Most Overhated Metal Subgenres

The Top Ten
1 Nu Metal

Yeah, Limp Bizkit and Dope may be bad or corny at times but Linkin Park (Older stuff), Korn, System Of A Down, Slipknot, Rage Against The Machine and Disturbed (Some of their stuff) are all awesome.-DarkBoi-X

I like some early Korn stuff, System of a Down, and Slipknot's first two albums pretty well.

How can you hate a genre that has Limp Bizkit? They are awesome.Linkin Park's older stuff,System Of A Down,Korn and Rage Against The Machine are better than stupid real metal.-DarkBoi-Z

2 Glam Metal Glam metal is a subgenre of heavy metal that features pop-influenced hooks and guitar riffs, and upbeat rock anthems.

The only bad thing about Glam is really it's name "Glam Metal" because most bands in the 80's and early 90s that were "Glam" were Hard Rock bands, although there are some Glam bands that did play metal (Ex. Dokken, Pantera, Stryper, Quiet Riot) and also pretty much every Glam Guitar solo are metal solos, and usually they are very good as well.

It's good and the bands in this genre were very talented. I would much rather listen to it than death metal or metalcore.

I agree with this list mostly, I like some glam bands and to say there’s no talent behind all of it is absurd.

3 Alternative Metal Alternative metal is a music genre that infuses heavy metal with influences from alternative rock and other genres normally associated with metal.

I actually enjoy this subgenre a lot, bands like Helmet, early Tool, Chevelle, Deftones and such.

4 Christian Metal

If you can get past the lyrics, (which are so awful) their are some good songs

5 Death n Roll

Entombed and Carcass, two of my favorite Death Metal bands have made some great Death n Roll music.

The hell is this?

6 Metalcore
7 Idol Metal

Specifically Babymetal. Can't you see that they are just having fun?! They aren't hurting anyone! They're having a good time.

8 Speed Metal

I hate it when people use the term, "Just because it's fast doesn't mean it's good." These are usually the same people who enjoy thrash metal and fast death metal.

Don't know too much except early Blind Guardian but this genre seems pretty solid and definitely influential

9 Melodic Death Metal
10 Djent
The Contenders
11 Deathcore
12 Technical Death Metal

I love Nile, Obscura, a bit of Cryptopsy. Sure you have some of your wankery bands, but there are some solid bands here.

13 New Wave of American Heavy Metal
14 Black Metal

Hated by hypersensitive religious nutjobs who have no idea what black metal is. They hate it to bandwagon and do it because "others are doing too!". Wish these immature haters knew how embarrassing they are.

15 Kawaii Metal
16 Power Metal

Some people hate it because "It's Cheesy" I will agree many bands are Cheesy but not all bands in the genre are like this

It isn't geekier than any other metal genre

17 Goth Metal
18 Emo Metal
19 Punk Metal Punk rock is a subgenre of rock music. It usually has rebellious lyrics and down stroked power chords played on guitars. Bad Religion, Sex Pistols, and Green Day (actually pop-punk, which is still punk in a way) are a few punk rock bands. The subgenre influenced thrash metal because of it's down stroked guitar playing and other factors.
20 Scene Metal
21 J-Metal (Japanese Metal)
22 K-Metal (Korean Metal)
23 C-Metal (Chinese Metal)
24 Latin Metal
25 T-Metal (Taiwanese Metal)
