Top 10 Most Overhyped Things from the 1990s Decade
In memorandum of probably THE most overglorified decade ever.
Meh...that's all I can really say about this artist (besides Kurt Cobain's death, which probably makes up at least half of the entire reason why they got so famous in the first place)
That, and nearly EVERY other highly regarded grunge/alternative band from the decade alone was easily at least an entire LEAGUE above them (yes, even the Stone Temple Pilots, whom many people think were just a wannabe ripoff of Nirvana)
Yuck, this band sucks
For the ones that I can name off the top of my head:
GOOD ONES: Playstation (aside from completely overhyped garbage like the original Parappa The Rapper and its obviously massive library of shovelware), Sega Saturn (mostly just for its time), Sega Dreamcast (well, you know, while it lasted, at least)
BAD ONES: Jaguar (aside from Tempest), 3DO (aside from Street Fighter), Sega CD (aside from Earthworm Jim: Special Edition and MAYBE Sonic CD), CD-i (because Youtube is where the poop is), etc

Nonsensical and ridiculously overinflated storyline (more so than MOST games in the series, amazingly enough), cardboard-cutout characters, flat-out racist African American stereotypes (Barret), combat system that is actually dumbed down compared to most of the series' previous games, god-awful graphics even for the time, cheap final boss that relies far too much on status ailments to make itself difficult, an EXTREMELY excessive amount of permanently missable items, immensely long and unskippable summoning cutscenes during combat, probably THE most overrated non-Nintendo villain in gaming history, et cetera, et cetera, ad nauseum
Long story short, FF6 and Chrono Trigger (and FF9, and Chrono Cross, and Xenogears, and probably even FF8) were FAR better overall

Super Metroid was WAY too easy and short,
Chrono Trigger was much of the same,
Kirby Super Star speaks for itself,
Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario RPG (and Yoshi's Island and Secret Of Mana and Mortal Kombat II) focused WAY too much on visual spectacle,
Final Fantasy VI was quite nearly AS pretentious as VII and almost as broken as a Bethesda game,
Super Mario World (as well as Super Castlevania IV) was home to easily the SINGLE most overpowered item/weapon in the entire series (cape in SMW's case; 8-directional whip in SCV4's),
Earthworm Jim and Aladdin were both better AND longer on Sega Genesis,
Street Fighter II is good but not as good as Alpha 3, even when playing its definitive versions,
Earthbound required basically no strategy,
Star Fox and F-Zero (and Super Mario Kart) aged like raw milk on a hot summer day, etc

Basically what Nostalgia Critic said; its concept, action scenes and special effects were pretty much the only things salvageable about this film in retrospect
And yes, it also leaves you with nothing BUT questions, just to add insult to boredom

If you're the type of person who views music as actual MUSIC and not the massively pretentious abstract-art projects that Yorke seems to treat his songs as, Radiohead pretty much only WAS good during the 90s (more specifically The Bends and OK Computer, both of which I will gladly admit rank EASILY among THE greatest albums ever produced in musical history); pretty much the entire rest of their discography is just that, okay
(however, it's admittedly largely because of HOW insanely good those two albums were that I can't bring myself to rank this higher on the list)
Somehow managed to get MORE overhyped with each game
Don't even ASK me about Skyrim

The ONLY things from the 1990s Nicktoons lineup that I honestly think still hold up in retrospect are Hey Arnold, Rocko's Modern Life, Classic Spongebob, Angry Beavers, and certain bits and pieces of Ren & Stimpy (you know, the parts where Ren goes utterly bananas); REALLY not a fan of everything else
As for the 2000s, we have Avatar/Korra, Invader Zim, Fairly Odd Parents, Harvey Beaks, My Life As A Teenage Robot, and certain bits of pieces of Modern Spongebob (and MAYBE Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, depending on what type of nostalgic mood I'm in)
Yeah, that's pretty much it

Don't get me wrong, I AM totally fine with this show being the best of its kind; I just expected a much more sophisticated kind than this, to put it lightly

To the site's notorious TLK hater;
This certainly WAS a great movie, just not THAT great (and I honestly feel pretty confident in saying that after seeing films like Spirited Away, Beauty And The Beast, and especially Iron Giant and the Incredibles)
Also, seriously, what was with Pumbaa's JonTron voice (not that I'm complaining, but seriously, what)
Still not nearly as overrated as Frozen, however,
so I will gladly let it slide

It's very dumb that fans hyped this game as the first 3d platformer when it wasn't.

An overrated game in general

Oh god why Sonic

The movie was actually pretty great in my opinion, but the actual show was "eh" at best

Decent show at times but absolutely pales (overall) when compared to its Rocko contemporary if you ask me

South Park was more affiliated with the 2000s rather than the 90s, seeing how it only had one season before the 90s ended.

At least the fan-modding community that it inspired lives up to its hype

Pretty much the most overrated console of it's time. How did this beat the Sega Saturn?

This show is so good, because it has Batman and his complex, sympathetic rouges gallery.
Batman had always been overhyped.

The most overrated sequel made before the 2000s.

Yes its good, but is it that good?
