One of the most clichéd songs any big British blockbuster or American film set in our isles could play, so that a foreign audience can recognise where the film is set. Hell, there are even some cases where it causes historical inaccuracy within the film. The recent Conjuring 2 used this song, despite being set in 1977, two years before the song came out. Great song, but can't they play a different song instead to represent the United Kingdom?
