Top 10 Most Overrated Animated Disney Characters

The most overrated animated characters from Disney! Not every character on this list has to be a bad character. Why do I already get the feeling that someone is going to add a Frozen character?
The Top Ten
1 Ariel (The Little Mermaid) Princess Ariel is a fictional character and the title character of Walt Disney Pictures' 28th animated film The Little Mermaid.

Ariel is disobedient. If you read my comment, Ariel is the worst person in the sea. She is not inspiring, kids.

Cure Sunny / Jordan Green

I CAN'T STAND ARIEL! SHE IS TERRIBLE! ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE CAN LIKE THIS CHARACTER! SHE IS A COMPLETE IDIOT! NO REDEEMING QUALITIES! SHE GIVES UP HER VOICE JUST TO BE WITH SOME GUY! SHE ENDANGERED THE LIVES OF PEOPLE AND HER OWN FATHER! AND YET SHE STILL GETS WHAT SHE WANTS AND DOESN'T LEARN ANYTHING IN THE END! Honestly, Ariel is not a good role model. She pretty much shows that even if you act like a spoiled brat, you still get what you want. That's not something that I would want my children to learn. If I ever get any. The worst part is she's the main character. I'm not saying she ruined the movie for me, but she is still the worst character. Can somebody please tell me why everyone likes her so much? I'm waiting.

2 Anna (Frozen) Princess Anna of Arendelle is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Animation Studios' 53rd animated film Frozen.
3 Judy Hopps (Zootopia) Officer Judy Hopps is the protagonist in Disney's 2016 animated feature film Zootopia. The first rabbit to be in Zootopia's police force, Judy is determined to make the world a better place while breaking preconceptions about other species. Teaming up with a fox named Nick Wilde, she sets off on her first case but discovers a sinister conspiracy is at play.

Most overrated and blandest character ever

4 Hei Hei (Moana)

It really bothers me that people hate Olaf but love Hei Hei. One complaint that people have about Olaf is that he didn't contribute anything to the plot. Wrong. He showed Anna and Kristoff to Elsa's castle, he helped Anna out of a locked room, and he told Anna about true love. Now tell me something. What did Hei Hei do in Moana? Nothing! Nothing at all! He was there for comic relief and ONLY comic relief! And the thing is, he's not even funny! He's just a stupid chicken! If you want to put in a character for comic relief, that's fine. But at least have him do something to help with the plot! You're probably gonna say that he grabbed the heart before it fell into the ocean during the climax. First of all, that was just luck. Second of all, the ocean is a character! If the heart fell in the ocean, the ocean could've just given it back to them! I know they wanted to give Moana an animal sidekick, but why did it have to be the chicken? Why not the pig? The pig is a much more tolerable ...more

I don't know why, but I like him. He's useless though.

Absolutely, utterly useless. Annoying as hell.

He's so annoying that even PhantomStrider doesn't know his name.

5 Joy (Inside Out) Joy is the main protagonist of the 2015 Disney/Pixar animated feature film "Inside Out". She is one of the five emotions inside of Riley Andersen's mind and serves as the leader. Hence her name she is very positive and optimistic and wants nothing more but for Riley to be happy.

Amy Poehler is such an annoying actress. Like REALLY annoying! In Inside Out, she plays a main character and this takes place in San Francisco. Kind of like that Nickelodeon show called Mighty B in which Amy Poehler played a main character and it took place in San Francisco. Strangely enough though I actually find Joy to be somewhat tolerable. She can be annoying at times, but it's perfectly in character for her since, well, she's Joy. But what I don't like about her is that she's kind of a jerk to Sadness. At one point, she tries to leave Sadness behind while attempting to go back to headquarters. I know at the end she learns that people need to be sad sometimes, but she was still a jerk through most of the film. Another thing I don't like, and this just a nitpick, is that why didn't Joy just have the maintenance workers send the core memories back up to headquarters. Pete Docter said that it was because Joy didn't want the memories out of her sight. But I still think that would've ...more

Bruh she should be dead by now. She is ugly without a nose. Will she ever breath again?

6 Elsa (Frozen) Queen Elsa of Arendelle is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Animation Studios' 53rd animated film Frozen.
7 Lightning McQueen (Cars) Lightning McQueen, typically referred to by his surname McQueen, is a anthropomorphic stock car in the animated Pixar film Cars, its sequels Cars 2, Cars 3, and TV shorts known as Cars Toons.

He's an arrogant jerk with an over-inflated ego and an annoying sense of entitlement. You'd think that what happened to him in, "Cars 3," would have humbled him. Nope! Didn't happen. I will never understand why so many people like him.

8 Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) Aurora is a fictional character from the popular Disney Film, Sleeping Beauty and the 2015 Live Action Release, Maleficent. She is commonly known as Sleeping Beauty and is one of the group Disney Princesses. She is a unique Disney Princess as in her film, Sleeping Beauty, she has a total of 18 minutes ...read more.

She is only there for 18 minutes . She is
SO overrated by the fans. Prince Phillip fights all the monsters while Lazy Aurora sleeps.

Love, from Cure Sunny / Jordan Green

What's the title of the movie? It's Sleeping Beauty. How long is the movie? 75 minutes. How long does Aurora appear in the film? 18 minutes! The entire movie is about Aurora and she is barely even in it! She has little to no character development! So how are we supposed to care about her? She pokes her finger and gets put into a permanent sleep, but why should we care? We didn't get to know her well enough to care about what happens to her! She has more development in Maleficent than she does here! That movie still sucked but at least Aurora was more of a character! The reason why she's so popular is because she's part of the Disney princess lineup. Other than that, they don't take the time to show us more about her! She's just a stereotypical damsel in distress who needs a kiss to be saved! Seriously!

She spends a lot of time lying around or just being displayed. She doesn't get to be active or develop into a fully-fledged character. Unfortunate.

Her purpose in the movie is to sing, twirl, cry, prick her finger, and get kissed. I'm so glad princesses in Disney aren't written like this now.

9 Baby Groot (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2)

Baby Groot is a CGI character in a live action film. So he counts as an animated character. I liked Groot in the first movie. He helped out a lot and still gave us some humor at the same time and they gave him more of a personality. In Vol. 2, however, well, I don't hate him, but he's not as likeable as he was in the first movie. In the sequel, he's no longer an adult. He's a baby. And that's pretty much his entire character. The fact that he's cute. Which he is, but he's mostly used for marketing purposes. It's like his whole existence was to sell toys. He does still help out at certain parts of the movie, but people mainly like him for his cuteness. Causing people to say that he's better than Adult Groot. Which I disagree on. Adult Groot was awesome! And remember that scene at the end of the first movie with Baby Groot dancing? Well, they decided to do something like that again at the beginning of the sequel. He dances while the rest of the Guardians are fighting a monster. And it ...more

He's only there for money. He does very little in the plot and he exists for cash. Did anyone see the dancing Groot commercial? Proves our point completely.

10 Mater (Cars) Tow Mater, or simply Mater, is a character in Cars and its sequels, Cars 2 and Cars 3 as well as Cars Toons. He is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy and inspired by a 1951 International Harvester tow truck.

Mater is an okay character and can sometimes be kind of funny. But when you have too much of something, it tends to get old really fast. I like Mater in the first Cars movie. But I must admit that he can get pretty obnoxious at times. And apparently this character was so popular that they decided to give him his own movie. In this case, Cars 2! John Lasseter's fan fiction that was accidentally leaked into theaters. I get that kids like Mater, but making him the main character of a movie is just ridiculous! He is way too annoying! According to people who already saw Cars 3, Mater is barely in it. So that's great. Mater is a decent character, but can get too annoying if we get too much of him. John Lasseter is the George Lucas of Pixar.

He was way overused in the second movie.

The Contenders
11 Megara (Hercules) Meg is a heroine from the Disney movie Hercules. Meg is the love interest for, the protagonist, Hercules. Meg sold her soul to Hades for her boyfriend's freedom. However, the (soon to be ex) boyfriend ended up cheating on her. Meg is scared of getting hurt again. However, once she sees how genuine Hercules's feelings for her are she learns to let herself love again.

I watched this movie again recently with my cousin. She quoted nearly every line of dialogue that Meg said. This movie still sucks. Every character in the movie is overrated (except Hades) but Meg really gets on my nerves. She's not the worst character in this, but she still gets on my nerves. Not because she was working for the villain since I know she didn't have a choice. I just really hate the way she acts throughout the film. The tone of her voice is stupid. I really hate her attitude. And she's too skinny. That kind of sounded like a complaint that IGN would say. I have no idea why Hercules decided to stay on Earth with Meg. She sucks. She's not attractive, she has terrible and unfunny lines, and she's not a good singer! Which is weird because she's voiced by Susan Egan! But I guess it's kind of hard to sing while still doing that voice. Meg makes me really angry sometimes. Terrible character and terrible movie.

Everything in Hercules is overrated I never understood why everyone considerate this movie as an underrated, so many people love that film and talk about it and also the disney company has started to produce some new merchandise for Hercules, it's the only famous non disney princess movie. For me It's neither good nor bad, it's just mediocre, besides there aren't bad disney movies. The story has nothing with the greek mythology, they didn't keep anything from the original story, at least I wanted to keep some parts. The only good about Hercules is Hades and the two songs go the distance and I wont say I am in love.In my opinion Meg is overrated, she is the only heroine who is very famous just like the official disney princesses, she has a unique attitude, some good quotes and a catchy song but overall I don't understand the hype.I respect her fans and the reasons to love her but come on, don't stick with Meg she is not the only heroine! There are also so many super cool heroines who ...more

12 Pocahontas (Pocahontas) Pocahontas is a title character in Disney's 33rd animated feature film Pocahontas, and its direct-to-video sequel Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World.

Pocahontas isn't a horrible movie by any means, but the titular character is very bland. There's nothing interesting about her! I'll admit she's kind of hot, but she has a boring personality. Her singing voice is great, but that's about it. Not much to say about her. She isn't very memorable. Well I mean, the most memorable thing about her was the fact that she was able to learn English from THE WIND! Can you think of lazier writing?

13 Dory (Finding Dory) Dory is a major character from the film, Finding Nemo and its sequel, Finding Dory. She is a blue tang known for her short-term memory loss and tends to forget almost everything, even the fish that she knows personally. This makes the mission to find Nemo even more difficult for Marlin.
14 Tinker Bell (Peter Pan) Tinker Bell is a fictional character from J. M. Barrie's 1904 play Peter Pan and its 1911 novelization Peter and Wendy.

Tinker Bell is hot. Everyone knows that. But her personality is not very good. In Peter Pan, she's kind of a jerk. She is very mean to Wendy just because she's jealous of her and that she's stealing Peter from her. Of course, the relationship between Tink and Peter doesn't work because how do you have sex with a fairy? Also, her anger problem is very irritating. I have an anger problem, but at least I don't take it out on other people. I express my anger through swearing. Like recently when I was so close to getting tickets to the red carpet premiere of Cars 3 but I was too late and they sold out. When D23 does an event like that, they need to announce it before they start selling tickets! Seriously! And that's not the first time that has happened to me. They really need to understand that not everyone can be checking the D23 website 24/7! Some people have jobs or just like to sleep in! It's not fair! Hopefully next time they'll make things easier. I was so frustrated. Now where was ...more

I think she is overvalued.

15 Simba (The Lion King) Simba is a fictional character who appears in Disney's The Lion King franchise. Introduced in Walt Disney Animation's 32nd animated feature film The Lion King (1994), the character subsequently appears in its sequels The Lion King II: Simba's Pride (1998) and The Lion King 1½ (2004).

Agreed so much. Simba is a brat and does not fit the protagonist role too well. Also very overprotective of his own daughter for no reason.

16 Stitch (Lilo & Stitch)

I don't hate Stitch but he is a perfect example of a character who people only love because of his cuteness. I feel bad for the people over in Walt Disney World. They have such a terrible theme park attraction based on this character. In fact, the existence of that attraction is the reason why he's on this list. Stitch is funny, cute, and a good friend to Lilo. But sometimes he can get a little too obnoxious. And a little gross. I know in the movie he was learning how to be a model citizen, but we spend a lot of time in the movie watching him go crazy and stuff. It gets annoying after a while. Lilo and Stitch isn't one of the best Disney movies. And part of the reason is Stitch. I like him but he kind of dragged the movie down a little bit.

Sure, complain about how annoying and overmerchandised Olaf is but buy everything that has this guy's not-so-cute face on it. I'm tired of Olaf myself but I have to give Stitch a pass even though I'm just as if not more (which speaks volumes, I know) tired of him?

17 Shank (Ralph Breaks the Internet)

Please, she only cared about getting people to play her dumb Grand Theft Auto ripoff and saw Vanellope as a means to that end!

18 Nick Wilde (Zootopia) Officer Nicholas Piberius "Nick" Wilde is a male red fox and the deuteragonist of Zootopia. He is the son of Mrs. Wilde. He was voiced by actor, Jason Bateman.
19 Lilo (Lilo and Stitch)
20 Tiana (Princess and the Frog) Princess Tiana of Maldonia is a fictional main character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures' 49th animated feature film The Princess and the Frog.
21 Sitka (Brother Bear)
22 Ed (The Lion King)
23 Mulan (Mulan) Fa Mulan, a character inspired by an actual historic figure is a character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures' 36th animated feature film Mulan, as well as its sequel Mulan II.
24 Nani Pelekai (Lilo and Stitch)

Nobody gave a cr@p about her until they suddenly remembered Lilo had a sister when Frozen got popular

25 Tadashi Hamada (Big Hero 6) Tadashi Hamada is a fictional character who appears in Walt Disney Animation Studios' 54th animated feature, Big Hero 6. The film is inspired by a Marvel comic book of the same name.
