Japan is ostensibly the most overrated nation. However, South Korea is actually more overrated since the disparity between perception and reality is greater. Korea has recently become more popular as a result of their entertainment industry. It has created the illusion of a Korea that does not and has not ever existed. South Korea is more similar to China than K-pop and K-dramas let on. Pollution, unhappiness, corruption, racism, overworking, social exclusion of foreigners, and a generally depressing environment is all-too-familiar to Korea. I highly encourage you to read more on Korean culture and life in South Korea in order to have an unadulterated view of the overrated nation that is South Korea.

Polluted air which they blame on the Chinese, while there are coal plants all over Korea. Technology which they pretend is their own, but have stolen from US, Japan, Finland, etc. Lastly, not a free country. Bloggers are jailed, newspapers are monitored by the state, dissent gets citizens jailed.
Simply put, this is a country constructed by lies which has never worked hard to achieve anything. They have been propped-up by other countries since the Korean war. Real ignorant racists here, too.
Source: Have lived in various cities in Korea for almost ten years. Am married to a Korean. Have worked fro various companies.

Expensive and useless food, expensive and useless Condos and expensive and useless Restaurants...What's so good about this Gimmick of a Country?

Philippines is absolutely overrated, perhaps one of the most overrated countries in the world. People would even say that Philippines is one of the safest countries in the world when it’s far from it. There are many scammers, drug addicts, pickpockets, and other criminals in Manila. Manila is a filthy congested city full of slum areas. These poor people would try to steal unsuspecting tourists’ belongings. The drivers don’t even drive properly and the public transportations are dirty and overcrowded. Especially Mindanao which is full of ISIS terrorists who will kidnap and kill anyone. Honestly, Philippines is not even a good country, it just receives too much undeserved attention.

Philippines always receives too much attention, to the point where the endless attention Philippines receives becomes undeserved. Honestly, it makes no sense that people keep on worshiping Philippines, it’s just an unsanitary country full of poverty and lack of education. There are other countries way better than Philippines.

Philippine Islands are very popular.
