Top 10 Most Overrated Blockbuster Movies of All Time

We all know blockbusters are the type of movies that most people go to see in theaters because they are usually made by famous companies like Disney, Dreamworks, etc. and since they are the movies that gross the highest it's no surprise most people think of blockbusters when they think of movies. However, not all blockbusters are the masterpieces people make them out to be. Here are the most overrated blockbuster movies. With that being said here is the list.
The Top Ten
1 Transformers

Transformers, Transformers, Transformers... This is a movie I will never understand the love for. When I myself first started to watch this movie, I was immediately bored and wanted to turn the movie off, but I wanted to see how it was, so I continued to watch it. Was this actually Transformers? More like "Humans (2007)". We don't get to see a single transformer until like an hour in the movie. That's right. What's in the title of the movie isn't the star. It's this whiny teeganer known as Sam Nitwit, oh I'm sorry, I mean Sam Witwicky and his oversexualized crush Mikaela Banes. It's honestly such an uninteresting movie I don't understand how it was such a huge blockbuster. Oh well, it's gotten more divisive as time went by. Doesn't mean it's not overrated.

This is a childhood favourite of mine so I disagree

2 Titanic

This is a similar case to Transformers. I will never understand the love of this movie really. It seems people love it for Leonardo diCaprio and that's it. I do think it's a relatively well-made movie but for frick' sake it's just another love story. There was a visitor comment on this site that explained this movie very well.. "They met, had sex, had romantic moments, and sinking". It's about as cliché as it can get honestly. There are so many other better Leonardo diCaprio movies such as Inception.

Not as overrated as Avatar, since this is a way better movie. Overall it gets the fame it deserves.

Never watched it, not interested.

Jack I never will let go

3 Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Maybe it's just me but I never saw why people think this is the best Star Wars movie ever. I mean it's pretty great but it appears I love it for completely different reasons than a damn line, and yes it seems people only love it for that. I'm sorry but one line can't make a movie a 10/10 instantly. Ok, so I guess people also like it because Luke's relatable. I guess I can somewhat understand the love for the movie. I personally love this movie because of the settings and planets, but man it's so overrated in my opinion. In all honesty, I preffered Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith over this movie by far. I'm also divided between thinking this or The Phantom Menace is better.

It's still the best Star Wars though

4 The Lion King

And here we have the pherhaps most acclaimed animated movie of all time, the lion king. Also one of the most overrated animated movies. Before Minions and Frozen, this was the big deal. And in my opinion, while it's a pretty great movie, it's certainly not one of the best (even though I used to think so). While animation is great and the plot is interesting it does have problems such as the characters. Mufasa is a big "animalist" (racist to other animals) hypocrite Timon and Pumba are annoying at times and Scar..., well he's a careless villian who got himself killed in the most pathetic way. Ok some of these are exaggerated. I still think Scar is decent for example. I think it's a great movie but overrated.

Not only the most overrated film, but also the most overrated franchise, since it spawned that awful Lion Guard show which is the worst show ever.

This movie ain't bad at all but the problem is that people praise it like it's the next coming of jesus. I mean come on. Good but not great.

5 Star Wars: A New Hope

And speaking of Star Wars: A New Hope, that movie also makes it to the list because really let's be honest what is so good about this movie? Like I can somewhat understand the love for the Empire Strikes Back, but Star Wars: A New Hope? Looking back this movie hasn't really aged that well. The plot is really basic, the lightsaber duel is pretty underwhelming, it can get boring quite fast and it didn't even have many of the characters we know today such as Yoda or Palpatine. I mean whenever you think of Star Wars, I doubt many think of this movie first because really the prequels and the later half of the original trilogy are what made Star Wars..., Star Wars. At least in my opinion.

6 Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Here we go again. This movie is a rehash on Star Wars: A New Hope. However..., that's far from the only reason I personally find this movie to be bad. so..., overrated. 93% on RT? Then again, that site is biased towards Disney so who gives a ####? Anyways this movie is just..., well it's unoriginal to say the least. I'll give it this, the cliffhangers in this movie are polished to death. They are very interesting and you are eager to know what will happen next. Unfortunately Rian Johnson flushed 'em away in The Last Jedi but that's a whole other story. Anyways..., Starkiller Base = Death Star, First Order = Galactic Empire, The Recistance = Rebel Alliance, Plot = A New Hope. Need I say more? Also BB-8 was just complete ####. Why could we not just have R2? Anyways onto the next one.

Worst movie eva!

Very overrated!

7 Jurassic World

Remember what I said about The Force Awakens being a remake on A New Hope? Well at least you could tell the differences between the movies. Jurassic World on the other hand is an exact carbon copy of Jurassic Park and no one pointed that out except MegaSoulhero (and some more maybe). Now this was the first movie in the series I saw so I still like it and I've always liked the four raptors for some reason but on an objective standpoint this movie is nothing more than a rehash on Jurassic Park. It really doesn't deserve this much praise.

It's a super great movie.

8 Avatar

Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time and yet no one knows who the characters are. Lmao

Well it is the 2nd Highest Grossing Film of All Time.

Pocahontas in space. Wow! So original (sarcasm)!

9 Black Panther

Personally I actually find this movie to be somewhat overhated. I really liked the movie because the setting and plot is on the whole very distinct from most MCU movies and it made this movie a lot more interesting if I do say so myself.

Overrated, enough said

10 Minions

It's pretty much tied with Frozen as the most overrated animated blockbuster movie of all time. After all, both are the highest-grossing animated movies of all time. Although Frozen has currently lost its popularity now and is pretty irrelevant (that is until Frozen 2 is released), Minions is still pretty relevant compared to Frozen. My guess is because it's already part of a franchise and based on something kids have an obsession with while Frozen was the first movie in its franchise. But in all honesty. I don't hate this movie, in fact I think it's quite enjoyable and fun but seriously why are people so obsessed with it? It's not that good and no, it's not funny at all. When I first saw the movie I did not laugh in the slightest. I thought it was more epic than "funny".

The Contenders
11 La La Land

Really this movie is about as boring as it can get. The pacing is incredibly slow and the plot is incredibly uninteresting. This is another movie I will never understand the love for. It's in a nutshell really only just another romance musical. It's a somewhat similar case to Titanic in which it's well-made but really that doesn't excuse it's so boring.

I like the songs.

12 Avengers: Endgame

This movie is awesome but there are movies better from 2019 like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Infinity War is more overrated but both are good but not the best movies ever.

13 Gravity
14 Jaws
15 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2
16 Spider-Man: Homecoming

Tom Holland's Spiderman isn't that good. He only wants to use his powers to impress female classmates and the Avengers (especially Tony Stark who is dead now sadly). What happened to Uncle Ben? Does he not exist in this universe? Or does he mean nothing to Peter? Also This spiderman barely has any consequences for his actions. He suceeds in school other than being "bullied" by Flash, He has everything handed to him by Tony Stark, I guess you can say Him losing the suit Is a consequence yeah for like 30 minutes and then he ends up getting it back. Liz moving may be a consequence too but it isn't necessarly Peter's fault her dad decided to be a criminal. Tobey Maguire portrayed the character the best and is the most comic book accurate one.

This was definitely overrated. I liked it but Far From Home was steps ahead.

17 Shakespeare In Love
18 Independence Day
19 The Lego Movie

Good but the franchise has already been milked too much to the point these movies are relying less on the story and on the toys instead.

20 Spider-Man: Far from Home

Overrated and not that funny. Too many annoying side characters like most of Peter's Classmates. Mysterio scenes were excellent though.

21 Zootopia
22 Crash
23 Ralph Breaks the Internet
24 Moonlight
25 Captain Marvel
