Top Ten Most Overrated Christian Artists

The Top Ten
1 Chris Tomlin

I stopped listening to the fish because he’s on every single song. I heard, how great is our god, amazing grace, nobody loves me like you, resurrection power, forever, home, our god is greater, and 20 of the exact same songs in 1 hour of Atlanta traffic lol

I mean the lyrics he writes aren't bad. He does write pretty good songs, I just don't like his voice.

2 Mandisa

She doesn't sing, she screams. Most shallow lyrics I have ever heard.

Just...so overrated. I can't stand her songs

3 Skillet Skillet is an American Christian rock band formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996 and based in the United States.

Skillet is best though

4 TobyMac Toby McKeehan, better known by his stage name TobyMac, is a Christian hip hop recording artist, music producer, hip-hop and pop artist, songwriter and author.
5 Britt Nicole Brittany Nicole Waddell, better known by her stage name Britt Nicole, is an American vocalist, songwriter and recording artist.

I meant to vote for Chris Tomlin. Oops. Britt's good but she is overrated.

6 Owl City Owl City is an American Synthpop/Electronica project created in 2007 in Owatonna, Minnesota; it is the most successful of several projects by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Adam Young.
7 MercyMe
8 Casting Crowns Casting Crowns is a contemporary Christian and Christian rock band started in 1999 by youth pastor Mark Hall, who serves as the band's lead vocalist, as part of a youth group at First Baptist Church in Downtown Daytona Beach, Florida.

Casting Crowns had a very strong and challenging first album but from then on they have been phoning it in. There might be a good song here and there but they have become dreadfully boring and lazy in their songs.

9 Lecrae Lecrae Devaughn Moore, mononymously known as Lecrae, is an American Christian hip hop artist, songwriter, record producer and actor. He is also the co-founder of reach records.
10 RED Red is an American Christian alternative metal/alternative rock band from Nashville, Tennessee. The band was formed in 2002 by brothers Anthony Armstrong (guitarist) and Randy Armstrong (bassist), along with lead vocalist Michael Barnes.
The Contenders
11 Newsboys
12 Lauren Daigle

If you want to stay absolutely complacent and comfortable in your faith without being challenged or inspired, have I got an artist for you. Her group name should be "Lauren and The Milk Toasts"

I don't hold anything against her or her songs, it's just that she's so popular after 1 album. (I think Casting Crowns is underrated)

Boring, shallow lyrics.

13 Third Day
14 Matthew West
15 Plumb
16 Hillsong United
17 Jeremy Camp
18 Katy Hudson

Even more overrated now that she has left the Christian music world and changed her real name to a stage name everyone knows, Katy Perry.

19 Relient K
20 Family Force 5 FF5 (formerly known as Family Force 5, The Phamily, Ground Noise and The Brothers) is an American Christian rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. The band was formed in 2005 by brothers Solomon "Soul Glow Activatur", Joshua "Fatty", and Jacob "Crouton" Olds along with their two friends, Nathan Currin "Nadaddy" and Brad Allen "20 Cent" later replaced by Derek Mount "Chapstique". The group has released five studio albums, nine EPs, and two remix albums. They are often noted for their raucous, party-centric personae and eclectic mix of genres, ranging from rap metal to dance-pop.

Very overrated
