Most Overrated Classic Rock Songstheforgiventeen
The Top Ten
I don't see why this song is so popular. Sorry, but it just isn't number one on any respectable greatest songs list. I can think of a long list of Led Zeppelin songs that are better than this one, and a seven mile long list of songs in general that are better than this. But this song just drowns them out; never seen anything so absurd.
A lot of people say this has the best solo ever. I disagree. It's fast, but that's pretty much it. It's a good song, but certainly not the best rock song ever like a lot of people think. And when it comes to the solo thing, Comfortably Numb is miles ahead of this
We will rock you isn't Queen's best song, but it's not considered to be the greatest rock song of all time either. Stairway sounds beautiful the first 10 or so times you listen to it, but Led Zeppelin has written more rock-oriented and punkier songs than this.
To see everywhere this song at nr. 1 makes me vomit already. - somekindofaguyV 20 Comments
Not the most overrated rock song... but definitely not "Led Zeppelin's Best Song"... not even in the top 5 in my opinion. - AlphonsoRichardson
Two chords and a lot of fluff
I think a visitor is really concerned about how much chords are used in a song. If that'd be the case, then Blitzkrieg Bop would be one of the worst songs of all time. Am I wrong? - zxm
A copy of 2 songs, it still egts more credit than any demanding song... - somekindofaguy
Not rally good. It's late, My Melancholy Blues, Spread Your WIngs and All dead, All dead are far better from this album alone, let alone the entire court of magnifence from queen
It is alright, but far too minimalist... Too simplistic... Boring really. So many Queen songs better than this.
Why the hell is Paradise City #1? - Estranged
I mean from a standpoint its an anthem that can be sung accapella
that's what makes it a great song/anthem
but for some reason its ranked as one of the best songs out there - LeBustyBlonde
Journey is one of my favorite bands. But this song is SO overrated. Can't we hear "Only the Young" or "Separate Ways" or "Stone in Love" for once? I go bananas every time I hear this song
Separate Ways is better - Nickelstickman
Not that good... sorry journey :-(
Maybe you had to "be there". If you can't identify with the spirit of the song and the period, you probably can't appreciate the song
I love the beatles but I personaly don't think this is one of their best - RecklessGreed
Why do people like the beatles so much
the songs I only like
are Hey jude
and lucy in the sky with diamonds
i mean their musics good
maybe not the best or most unique - LeBustyBlonde
Ok Ozzy isn't classic rock. He's metal. And this is a great song with a great solo - Sabbath
The most overrated song ever, without a question. I know a long, long, long list of overrated songs, and a considerably long list of overrated songs by music artists that have done a lot better and have loads of underrated songs. Wonderwall, I have to say, is number one on both of these lists.
The song in itself is just uninspired drivel that people call music. What does anybody see in it?! It is a talentless song that deserves nowhere as much recognition that it got! It just cannot compare to other songs like it and cannot be called their best song. I can understand that Sweet Child Of Mine is the most popular Guns n' Roses song, even though my favourite is Paradise City, which shouldn't be on this list. I can understand that Gimme Shelter is the most popular Rolling Stones song. What I don't get is why Wonderwall is the most popular Oasis song!
Don't Look Back In Anger is no better. The second most popular Oasis song, and there's just nothing talented about it. It is ...more
Is it bad because it has fewer chords? Just joking. This song isn't classic rock. - zxm
This isn't classic. This isn't rock. It isn't even all that overrated. - hype
This song is terrible
Bohemian Rhapsody is hardly overrated! It's Way underrated in my humble opinion. Esp when you consider that a typical song has 3 chords, while Bohemian Rhapsody boasts SIXTY CHORDS! Plus the fact that it marries 2 such diverse genres of music as rock and opera; I mean, how Genius is that?! That's the genius of the great, the sublime, the one and only FREDDIE MERCURY.
Someone said, Bohemian Rhapsody is underrated. I've one question, when a song is considered as the best (I meant best, not one of the best) song of all time, how this song is underrated? - zxm
Queen has better song like innuendo
Overrated as hell... I don't mean it's bad because it's great... but if I were to choose the best Queen songs, the list would look like this:
1. "Don't Stop Me Now"
2. "I Want It All"
3. "Another One Bites the Dust"
5. "Show Must Go On"
6. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love"
7. "A Kind of Magic"
8. "Dead on Time"
9. "I Want to Break Free"
10. "Bohemian Rhapsody"
Yes, "Bohemian Rhapsody" is on 10th place... and it's barely better than "Save Me" (11th place), so why it was voted 1st on "the best rock song ever"? I don't understand...
On the other hand, it was a hard decision to vote on this in "overrated classic rock songs" category, because there is some serious competition for this one... "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions" are well... a bit weak, compared to the ...more
Actually I find Free Bird is hit or miss with a lot of people. The lead is amazing but I could see where folks might think it's long and repetitious. I like it because it's a tribute to Duane Allman, but even I think it's kind of drawn out in parts.
I don't like this song, but apparently everyone else does.
Definitely more than Run Like Hell
SCOM is overrated, Paradise City isn't. - somekindofaguy
This is nowhere near the Who's best work (Try "My Generation" or "Behind Blue Eyes" and you'll know what Classic Who is. ) -
Got to admit, I love this song. Not overrated at all! - PetSounds
An awful demonstration of Pete's post punk angst
This is undeserving of the top 10 of the best songs of all time. It's a heavy grunge song. And what now? - naFrovivuS
Yeah it's overrated, but it's not classic rock. - Gruunge
Should be at first. At least, stairway to heaven has better lyrics. - zxm
Here we are now in containers
Every single guitar newbie thinks they're so cool showing off that they can play only the first few notes of this song. Next time someone does that, tell them to play the solo.
Deep Purple is actually an underrated band. But this song of their's is overrated. The riff isn't that good that gets praised. I like some other songs like, Sometimes I feel like screaming, Soldier of Fortune, Child In Time etc more than this one. - zxm
Is a good song, but incredibly simple and is treated like one of the greatest songs of all time.
THIS? Was a hit single and one of Pink Floyd's most overplayed songs? -
The reason why this song is overrated is because this song is as good as hell! - VanHalen
Panama is UNderrated
A big hit in 1965, played ( and overplayed ) on the radios millions of times, known by everyone ( even by those who don't care of Rock music ). All that made this song so popular that it became " overrated ". But in a context, back in 1965, this was a really " Them against us " anthem! Just listen to those lyrics of " no satisfaction " for T.V., radio, ads, media, girl action... This was really a " revolutionary " song back in those days.
So obviously overrated...
Overrated as hell
This song is good as hell, so emotional and deep, not overrated
15 year olds should be banned from this site. This is not overrated at all - Jay_07
It might have been really ambitious in the 60's, but it doesn't hold up and I don't see how this song is better than songs like While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Here Comes The Sun
