Most Overrated Harry Potter Characters

He is extremely overrated. He's loved for one last thing he did, but otherwise he's such a creep, though a good character. Snape was a hypocrite, sure James was mean to him but he injured James at every opportunity and did everything he could to hurt him because of jealousy. Now, that's not terrible. It's understandable. What he did next was terrible. He tortured and murdered tons of people alongside Voldemort, probably enjoying it, too, until the woman he stalked and crushed on turned out to be in danger because of his horrible work as a death eater. He accidentally made an oath with Dumbledore to work with him, and he's been a terrible, biased teacher ever since, bullying people who are nervous around him and people who answer his questions. He always prefers his house's students like the jerk he is, he verbally abused and bullied Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville, actually doing enough things to them alone to earn a jail sentence. He was a horrible man with horrible personality traits, and he was eventually a good person in the end but that doesn't make up for his lifetime of crimes.

I know that Hermione's super smart and all, and I really like her, but she is so popular with everyone and overrated that it is starting to get too cliche too see her on top on best harry potter characters lists. I like Hagrid, Luna, Tonks, Harry, and Hedwig better. Some people ignore Hermione's faults. Like, being too logical. There is some particular scenes in the books where I am very, very, disappointed in Hermione. First, let's see, how rude she was Fleur. Fleur, a beautiful girl, was ridiculed by some jealous girls. Hermione. And Ginny. Fleur was not only beautiful, she was kind, gracious, brave, and loyal. But Hermione got jealous of Fleur and spoke quite harshly and in a rude manner to her. Mean. And when Hermione set birds on Ron... that was pretty terrible. She should have just talked to him, then Lavender in private. And that time in the third book where poor Lavender's poor baby rabbit Binky died and Hermione said to look at it LOGICALLY! Seriously, poor lavender did not want people telling her to look at her sweet rabbit dying logically. And that Hermione... she can be a bossy know-it-all who acts like she knows everything. Very narrow-minded. She only believes the hard, cold, stiff facts instead of like Luna, who's a creative and wonderful girl. Hermione is the anti-Luna. Luna is creative, open-minded, dreamy, kind, and weird, whereas Hermione is not creative, she sticks to only facts, she pays strict attention in class, she can be very, very, very sharp, and no one in their right minds would ever call Hermione weird. So Hermione is too overrated, and people should pay much stricter attention to Hermione's flaws.

I'm sorry, there are a lot of characters on here I like, so... forgive me. Yes, he never wanted to be death eater. Yes, He only helped Voldemort to save him and his family. But... he still is a jerk, bully, and several things I shouldn't say. He didn't make of much of sacrafice, honestly. I didn't see as much growth as there could have been. Certainly not be least favorite character, though. Still ok to me.

Why isn't he higher. Everyone only loves Draco because of his actor, so much they make Ron the evil psychopath and Draco the sweet angel.

Nah he was only in two books and mentioned in Order of the Phoenix. Please stop Twilight hate. There is Harry Potter fans that like Twilight, on Twilight message boards we have fans of Harry Potter. Sorry that Edward isn't Dracula.

Yes, I don't care that he's handsome, like it doesn't make sense if he was popular because he is handsome! He won the Quidditch match because Harry knocked over his broom! So I consider that a coward.

Ok lets be honest. He was handsome. A good guy. A good quidditch player and probably more deserving triwizard champion. But I think he has been overrated. I mea we don't get to see his "bravery".

I actually hate Harry himself quite a lot. If it wasn't for Hermione and some others like Dumbledore, he wouldn't have made it to the last book. He is slightly arrogant because he was the chosen one, he literally has no good ideas for himself and he has no self control. I just don't like his personality either, except maybe in the first book. Everything he does it purely based on luck and with other people helping him, he has no talent to be honest. If Hermione was the chosen one, Voldemort would be gone by the third book

Too overrated. When Ron and Harry went to save Hermione from the troll, he didn't even do anything except for being dumb and almost getting killed. Ron was the one who did the saving. He saved Hermione from being killed and saved Harry from being squished to death by the troll. Yet, it is Harry who gets most of the credit.

Harry Potter is a great character, but honestly, I think he's kind of a Mary Sue. He is the only one to survive Voldemort and the Avada Kedavra curse, the youngest Quidditch player to join in a century, the master of death, captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, the "Chosen One", etc. He had a tragic backstory and a lot of characters risked their life for him and some died because of it. He's super famous, and sort of the "leader" in the "Golden Trio" (Harry, Ron, & Hermione). He was a horcrux, which allowed him to read Voldemort's thoughts, and could speak Parseltounge, a rare ability. His parents were also somewhat famous and almost everyone loved them. He was bullied by Draco (another overrated character) mainly because Draco was jealous of him, and most characters treat Harry Potter differently than they would treat anyone else. He has a cool lightning-bolt scar on his forehead, and kind of looks like a typical fantasy-book protagonist if you think about it. His "flaws" mainly just draw attention to him or make other characters sympathize him (bad temper mainly either creates drama or makes his friends sympathize with him, not remembering what happened when his parents got killed made Rita Skeeter write lies about him in the daily prophet) and he has a whole bunch of good traits (brave, clever, modest, friendly, selfless, etc.) and at the sorting hat ceremony, when the sorting hat was trying to decide which house to put him in, the sorting hat was basically just complimenting him ("Plenty of courage, not a bad mind either, blah, blah, blah"). Anyway, I'm not saying I don't like Harry Potter, I'm just saying that I don't like Harry Potter himself that much. The series itself is great, I just don't like the main character very much.

He ain't even a strong wizard! He only pretends, finding people's weak places and not knowing love or friendship!

people are saying he is the hero because he killed a snake! Are you kidding me?!? Harry did way more he did just he the first book. And killed a basilisk + destroyed a horcruxe when he was 12. He sacrificed his life at the end!
Neville barely accomplish anything until the last book, and what he does accomplish is really not that impressive (not to mention Harry is the one who told him to kill the snake) and people act like he's such a big shot. lol
HE SUCKS!

I like Neville as a character, but somehow I think his character development was a bit rushed and he's kinda overrated.

Forget about the movies and focus more on the books.

Ginny was not a fan girl she is not Romilda Vane. She was overexcited to see Harry Potter in the first book. Second book she struggled to talk to him. Fourth book, she couldn't wait around forever so she became herself in the fifth.
You don't like a girl for being herself and behaving like a teenager.

She had a lot going for her, like being related to several major characters and having a unique and rare ability, but in the end all that mattered was that she had a uterus.

She called Harry a "little boy" in the fourth book.
She was snobby through the fourth and most of the sixth to the end when she redeemed as a nice character.
But is overrated.
Ginny was behaving like a 15 year old because she was.

He doesn't have smarts to know that Bellatrix is better than him. He's almost like Bellatrix--underestimating everyone.
Bellatrix underestimates Molly. Sirius underestimates Bellatrix.
Bellatrix underestimates Dobby. Sirius underestimates Snape.
Being smart isn't Animagus-Potion brewing. Being smart is knowing your weaknesses.

I HATE HER. I don't understand how people can say "Oh she's such a badass she's so cool" because SHE ISn't. She killed Sirius, Dobby and Tonks. She tortured Hermione and Frank and Alice Longbottom and she is a HUGE moldy voldy supporter. How can people like her?

She is overrated and Ginny is overhated.
Luna appeared in the fifth book. A dotty character who the trio didn't really like till the sixth book. Yeah Harry and Luna had a little conversation at the end of the fifth but they became friends in the sixth.
Hermione couldn't stand her in the fifth with her talking about imaginary creatures for example Crumple-Horned Snorkack.
Harry didn't want to know what Nargles where in the fifth book when Luna said mistletoe was infected with them, when he jumped away from it and she said good thinking.
Ron said to Luna I s'pose we're going to ride on the back of the Kacky Snorgle or whatever it is? when they where going to fly to the ministry of magic.
Ginny said Loony Lovegood once but not in a nasty way she said to Neville she's alright and was then polite to Luna.

Ginny asked Luna if she had a nice summer, after saying "Loony". Oh and everyone was calling her Loony. Harry was in his head when he wished Cho hadn't seen him with Neville Longbottom and Loony Lovegood, Harry again called her Loony to Cho when they were under the mistletoe. Ron was calling her Loony until after the second Quidditch match in the sixth book.
