Top Ten Most Overrated Music Artists of 2017

The Top Ten
1 Kendrick Lamar Kendrick Lamar Duckworth (born June 17, 1987) is an American rapper and songwriter. Raised in Compton, California, Lamar embarked on his musical career as a teenager under the stage name K-Dot, releasing a mixtape that garnered local attention and led to his signing with indie record label Top Dawg ...read more.

I hate how he barely tries in songs like Humble and DNA but that is the only reason why he is so popular

Even if Damn wasn't a bad album, it isn't the best album from 2017, there's a few albums better than that one, and is not so great as GKMC and TPAB were

He's been the rave of this year, but he's not that good!

Let's just say he is not the best. Also, Humble is annoying.

2 Lil Pump Gazzy Garcia (known professionally as Lil Pump, born August 17th, 2000) is an American rapper, producer and songwriter. Gazzy began his career in 2016 with a collaboration freestyle with Smokepurpp, which was eventually posted in Soundcloud to popular success. He broke out to mainstream the following year with an eponymous debut album and the hit single "Gucci Gang", which peaked at 3rd in the Billboard Hot 100 .

Well actually, @princepretty is right because he is only 17 but inappropriate. And when I am typing this he is gonna be 19 this year but he started when he was 16.

Lil pump, more like Lol Dump, because he belongs in the trash... Tell the Gucci gang he just got put on notice

Say same words 100 times and be famous! Okay...

What? Lil Pump is good!

3 Taylor Swift Taylor Alison Swift is an American singer-songwriter. She was born on December 13, 1989, in Reading, Pennsylvania. Swift is best known for writing personal songs and has won 13 Grammy Awards... read more

How on God's green Earth is Kendrick seen as more overrated than Taylor Swift? Taylor has some of the most bland and unoriginal songs I've ever heard. "Look What You Made Me Do" was a lazy attempt at trying to make herself seem edgy, "Ready For It? " was Taylor showing her hypocrisy by saying "the old Taylor's dead" only to make yet another song about an ex-boyfriend, and the entire "Reputation" album was just mediocre to say the least.

I feel like she's REALLY overrated. I like her sound and taste for music, but she has too many vocal cliches and barely any of her songs are as unique as others. And she doesn't know how to dance very well, either.

4 Post Malone Austin Richard Post (born July 4, 1995), known professionally as Post Malone, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, record producer, and guitarist.

I don't think of Postey as underrated or overrated, because my opinion would be biased. Late in 2017, I had been dipping in and out of hip hop, and just when I was about to drop it I heard "rockstar" for the first time and it really drew me back in. He may not be my favorite but if it weren't for him I might be listening to pop trash so thank you Post.

Most Lazy repetitive lyrics ever, it's just annoying how little he puts into his Lyricism

Definitely over rated and depressing

I wish I did not know Rockstar.

5 Cardi B Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar (born October 11, 1992), known professionally as Cardi B, is an American rapper. Born and raised in New York City, she became an Internet celebrity by achieving popularity on Vine and Instagram. From 2015 to 2017, she appeared as a regular cast member on the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York, which depicted her pursuit of her music aspirations. She... read more

I HATE HER SO MUCH! She is SO OVERRATED as well as COMPLETELY TALENTLESS. Her abomination of a song B-B-Bod-dak Yell-o-ow (yes, I cringed while I put in the title) is one of the worst songs ever made (funny enough, it was either number 9 or 8 on the WatchMojo list of best songs of 2017). That song isn't even MUSIC. Cardi was just spouting stuff with her annoying voice ("I don't dance, I make money moves", SERIOUSLY?!?! ). Rap has SERIOUSLY gotten worse in 2017. COME BACK EMINEM, MAKE RAP GOOD AGAIN!

She drugged and robbed men and is only known as a sex symbol. I have yet to hear a single song that she is in that is even decent. Her personality is literally awful. Yes she's confident but that doesn't mean anything if you can't rap. If she is the face of the next generation of rap, we are all doomed. Also she feels entitled and like she is the next great thing and has no ability to stay humble.

She's just trash, Nicki Minaj might have been annoying but at least she had some kind of personality, this chick is just so bland, uninspired and forgettable. People always talk about how "she had it so hard growing up", but she doesn't put that into her music. One of the greatest mysteries of the world is how Bodak Yellow got to number 1.

6 Dimash Kudaibergen Dinmukhamed Kanatuly Kudaibergenov, commonly known as Dimash Kudaibergen (born May 24th, 1994) is a Kazakh singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Dimash is best known as a contestant of Chinese talent show "Singer 2017" where he was declared a runner-up. He is also known for possessing a wide ...read more.

I'm sorry, but barely anyone outside of TheTopTens has even heard of this guy. His songs have little to no views, and yes, he's good, but people worship him for no reason

We just "disagree with voting"? First of all, who is "We"? Also, the world is going to be a painful place to be if you cannot handle people voting differently than you do.
Dimash wins deservedly, end of story.

Dimash has an unique voice, model-looking appearance and very high human abilities

At least from recent music listings and votes going on right now.

7 Logic Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, better known as Logic, is one of the most influential artists in the rap game today. He was Born on January 22, 1990, in Gaithersburg, Maryland and first gained major fame through making 2013's edition of the XXL Top-10 Freshmen List and has easily become the most successful in that entire class (Only Schoolboy Q, Joey Badass and Chief Keef come close). Logic even got more popular in 2017, when he released his song, 1-800-273-8255. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Music Video and the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. It also reached number 1 on the billboard charts. It was on his album, Everybody.

I understand that the guy has a lot of great lyrics. It's great to hear new rappers talk about actual, meaningful things as opposed to bragging about money, strippers, and cars and mumbling while they do it. It's just that I don't think Logic is a good rapper. His flow isn't that good and his voice doesn't command your attention. There are plenty of better conscious hip hop artists out there. Just listen to Kendrick and J. Cole.

I like Logic but Everybody the album was kind of disappointing. When I first heard the song Everybody, I was thinking that this album was going to be the sickest, but sadly "Everybody" was the best that album had to offer.

8 Demi Lovato Demetria Devonne "Demi" Lovato is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. After appearing on the children's television series Barney & Friends as a child, she received her breakthrough role as Mitchie Torres in the Disney Channel television film Camp Rock and its sequel Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. ...read more.

At least she actually has talent. That's pretty rare for today's pop music standards. I'd take her over katy, selena, taylor, rihanna etc any day of the week.

Even though it was wasted on a few songs. At least she did not SMOOSH her talent. :/ Taylor Swift SMOOSHED half of her talent. While Demi smooshed only 1/8 (it's pretty rare). Why?

She should be #1 Sorry not Sorry was everywhere in 2017

This is my opinion okay?

9 DJ Khaled Khaled Mohamed Khaled, known professionally as DJ Khaled, is an American record producer, radio personality, DJ and record label executive.

Why do we give this guy attention? He just shouts his name 20 times. Avicii was a better DJ

This guy isn't even an artist.

10 Ed Sheeran Edward Christopher "Ed" Sheeran is an English singer-songwriter and musician. He sang songs such as The A team and Shape of You. He was born in Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire and raised in Framlingham, Suffolk.

He is overrated because most of his songs are just plagiarism, he has the most annoying voice and he tries to collaborate with other popular artists with the only purpose to increase his own more popularity. No respect for him.

Ed Sheeran has written the most perfect song, "Perfect" and I LOVE it. And his diction is so clear, unlike many other singers who mumble their songs plus even though I don't like rap, he deserves his success.

I kind of feel like he is underrated because people do not like Shape Of You, but there are much better tracks on Divide like Castle On The Hill.

He is overrated because of Shape Of You. But Divide had some amazing tracks like Galway Girl, Perfect and Barcelona.

The Contenders
11 Katy Perry Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, professionally known by her stage name Katy Perry, was born on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California. She is a singer, songwriter, actress and an ambassador on one of the most popular companies of now, UNICEF.

Just trash, her music is complete trash and it always was. Now days she's just in the media and it's annoying hearing about her all the time, but her music is hardly played on radio now (yes! )

Katy Perry. PRISM was good but in Witness, she SMOOSHED her ENTIRE talent that it isn't even on the radio anymore. At least Taylor Swift only smooshed half of her talent and Demi Lovato a few.

She have little to no commercial success. Bon Appetit didn't even crack top 40. And she have 8 #1 song before. Witness is the biggest flop of 2010s.

Both Tay and Demi are both on the radio! Never heard any of Katy's main songs once!

12 21 Savage Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph (born October 22, 1992), better known by his stage name 21 Savage, is an American rapper. He received attention for projects such as Free Guwop (2015) as well as Savage Mode (2016, with Metro Boomin) before going on to release his debut album, Issa Album (2017). He is best known for his songs "Bank Account" (2017), "No Heart" (2016), and "X" (2016), and for his feature on Post Malone's single "Rockstar", which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Should be much higher. I think his voice is incredibly boring and that he's really uninspired and overrated

Most boring, uninspired rapper ever. It's no surprise that he and Cardi B made a song together.

13 P!NK Alecia Beth Moore known professionally as P!NK, is an American singer, songwriter, dancer and actress.

How is she only 53?! What About Us, which in my opinion is already an annoying and overly melodramatic song to begin with, was playing literally everywhere in late 2017 and early 2018, to the point where it drove me insane! Not to mention that there's a whole bunch of people on here who act like Pink is someone EVERYONE has to like, even after that song.

What about us annoys me, but honestly all of her songs have annoyed me over the years.

how is she overrated, shes so irrelevant these days

14 Quavo Quavious Keyate Marshall, known professionally as Quavo, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. He is best known as a member of the former rap trio Migos.

Sick of this guy popping up on everyone's songs. He has a really awful voice with auto-tune, he sounds like if Gucci Mane sang with auto-tune. Yuck.

15 Kesha Kesha Rose Sebert (formerly known as Ke$ha) was born on March 1st, 1987 in Los Angeles, United States. She is best known for her hits like Timber, Tik Tok, and We R Who We R. Kesha is an animal rights activist and she works for H.S.I. (Humane Society International). Kesha also stands up for L.G.B.T. rights in America

I do not understand why everyone thinks she is the best, but they can think that if they want, I just won't agree.

16 Migos Migos is an American hip hop trio from Lawrenceville, Georgia, founded in 2008. They are composed of three rappers known by their stage names Takeoff, Quavo and Offset.

I'd say they deserve more credit. Some members may be better than others but the Migos are strong together. Seriously though, when's Takeoff going to get his solo career because he is straight FIRE!

17 Camila Cabello Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao, or professionally Camila Cabello (born March 3, 1997) is an American-Cuban musician. Camila left Fifth Harmony in December, 2016. In her solo career, Camila became a huge hit again with her songs Havana and Senorita which reached no. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Well hey, at least her music is better than fifth harmony's.

18 Kelly Clarkson Kelly Brianne Clarkson is an American singer, songwriter and children's book author. She rose to fame in 2002 after winning the inaugural season of the television series American Idol, which earned her a record deal with RCA Records. It was followed by the release of her debut album, Thankful (2003), which debuted atop the US Billboard 200. Trying to reinvent her image, Clarkson decided to part ways with Idol management and her second album, Breakaway (2004), featured a pop rock sound. It sold over 12 million copies worldwide and earned Clarkson two Grammy ...read more.

Love So Soft was a disappointment compared to her older songs. I am very sure that she is on The Voice now because of that song.

Sorry, but I am not down with a white supremacist stealing black music.

Linkin Park is a great band , and even if they made an album in 2017, I've never seen One of their new songs on TV ( except for heavy, that I've seen only One time ). They were played more in 2000s

I ain't gonna swear but HECK YOU for even considering Linkin Park to be on this list.

Yeah, pretty much. More so overrated as a celebrity, but she didn't release any music in 2017 (thankfully)

Always overrated. So sick of her being rubbed in my face all the time.

Most overrated artist ever

Overrated every year.
