Top 10 Most Overrated NFL Coaches of the 2020-21 Season

As we are close to the off-season of this crazy year it’s time to look back. Some coaches get way too much credit for what results they give some have been fired others still have jobs for now. Who is the most overrated coach? Share your thoughts
The Top Ten
1 Doug Pederson

Who is more deserving of #1? Good lord did that Super Bowl get to his head. What didn’t go wrong for the Eagles this year? He completely killed off Carson Wentz’s confidence to the point where it broke him. The team itself was a dysfunctional mess and on top of that he was openly tanking in the final game to anger the team even more. It almost feels like that Super Bowl was a fairytale. Hard to believe it actually happened. He was fired which is honestly justified

2 Kliff Kingsbury

This dude, I never really liked. He was only hired because he coached Pat Mahomes and had the "air raid" philosophy on offense. When you miss the playoffs and let the damn Bears make it in with an extra playoff spot and a weak NFC, you have problems.

The Cardinals looked really good though at some points and he's a very ambitious coach which is interesting.

3 Jon Gruden
4 Dan Quinn

After years of failure, Atlanta has finally seen enough. This year was textbook Falcons, reinforcing stale narratives after stale narratives. Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Calvin Ridley have all been wasted. I have never seen a coach fail to utilize as much talent as he has had.

5 Matt Nagy

What has Matt Nagy done? He had one good year carried by his defense but other than that he’s been horrible. The Bears offense has been unwatchable it was that bad. Any bears fan I feel for you. But we’re rivals so not really. The fact he hasn’t been fired yet is hilarious. Part of me wants him to be the Bears head coach for an eternity

6 Zac Taylor

I was never fond of this guy from the start, literally, what does he have going for him? He's been pretty terrible and will only waste Joe Burrow's career. The only reason he is a head coach at all is because he worked alongside Sean McVay, and he has been subpar at best, and it shows he is nowhere near the "next McVay."

7 Mike Tomlin Michael Pettaway Tomlin is an American football coach who is the 16th head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League.

Tomlin is a respectable enough coach, but he has underachieved. Starting off 11-0 only to not win a playoff game is beyond unacceptable for any Steelers fan. On top of that, this team has become the soap opera of the NFL over the past few years. We had the Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell, and Ben Roethlisberger drama, and now Juju Smith-Schuster with TikTok dances. The fact that a certain Steelers fan has to make a soap opera called "Days of Our Steelers" is not a sign of a healthy locker room.

Na Mike Tomlin is a legend at this point.

8 Mike McCarthy Michael John McCarthy is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He previously coached the Green Bay Packers from 2006-2018. He led the Packers to a win in Super Bowl XLV against his hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
9 Sean Payton

Here’s the thing, he has had good success in the regular season, but he has underachieved in the playoffs. They missed the playoffs a few years, this year they overused Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas became toxic, and the defense became shaky. He failed Drew Brees. Sure, he won a Super Bowl, but that was during bountygate. Saints fans laugh at the Falcons all you want, but is this guy really any better? He’s wasted numerous chances to win Drew Brees another ring.

10 Vic Fangio
The Contenders
11 Mike Zimmer Michael Zimmer is an American football coach. He is currently the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League.

No, I'm not being biased against the Vikings here, but let's just say that it was a very disappointing season for the Vikings. They were 1-5 at one point, and by the time Justin Jefferson broke out into a legitimate weapon, it was too late. The Vikings' defense was very disappointing after having a decent defense. I think this team is the perfect representation of the Vikings, either subpar or good but not great.

12 Anthony Lynn

Anthony Lynn was also fired by the Chargers. He wasn't absolutely terrible, but good lord, his clock management was awful. I know the Chargers were bad, but he definitely cost them several games. Justin Herbert was good, and this is a playoff team on paper if Lynn was a good coach.

13 Bill Belichick William Stephen Belichick is an American football coach and the long-time head coach of the New England Patriots of the National Football League.
14 Sean McVay

Okay, so he's been okay, but I wouldn't say he's one of the best in the league. People like to hail him as this offensive-minded guru when he has been carried by Aaron Donald. You'd think that for an offensive-minded coach, he'd be able to help his quarterback improve, but Jared Goff really hasn't. In fact, he's regressed in some areas. And in the playoffs, he only made a Super Bowl appearance, but his offense didn't even score a touchdown.

15 Bill O'Brien
16 Pete Carroll Peter Clay Carroll is an American football coach who is the head coach and executive vice president of the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League.
17 John Harbaugh John W. Harbaugh is an American football coach who has been the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League since 2008.
