Top 10 Most Overrated Rock Albums of All Time
DISCLAIMER: I'm not by any means calling these albums terrible, but I think they get WAY MORE attention than necessary. So please don't overreact if your favorite album is on this list.... but I know that overreactions will be inevitable. Not even the band's best... hell Kurt himself and the rest of Nirvana hated this album for how polished it sounds.
In Utero is better.
The most overrated "rock" album by the world's most overrated "rock" band. Also the Beatles are more of a boyband than a Rock band if anything... hence when I used quotation marks.
I miss some Led Zeppelin albums on this list, especially their first 2-3 albums that had many rip offs but the albums are viewed like the Second Coming.
Personally I think "Let it Be" is worse, but this is definitely overrated.
@ Billyv : Your accurate facts and intelligence continue to astound me. Bravo.
Why do you people love this band so much? They mean absolutely nothing to the music industry whatsoever.
This album isn't Linkin Park's best... and in general hasn't aged well at all.
In my opinion it is the best LP album. In fact it's my favourite album but I respect your opinion.
Meteora is better
I agree. Paranoid has to be the most overrated metal-related album (by the way, the album title is Paranoid and not War Pigs).
And yes, I said metal-related album and not a metal album. Because there's no single metal song on this album. The title track isn't a metal song but many believe it's the best metal song of all time (proves how overrated it is). War Pigs isn't a metal song, either, and so on.
Also, many claim this album started metal. What?! If anything, their debut album that came out before Paranoid at least had one doom metal song on it - Black Sabbath. Was doom metal the birth of metal? Not sure, but at least the debut album had a song from a genre that is still considered metal - doom metal.
Overrated?
This is joke.
Paranoid was milestone of guitar music.
It gets praised like it's one of the best things to happen to music...and well that's a bit of a stretch.
Highly perceived as the "greatest album of all time," yet I personally don't really see it. It's a good album, no doubt, but I've found myself more interested in a number of other Pink Floyd albums: Meddle, Atom Heart Mother, and Animals for example.
I agree that this album is quite overhyped, still topping this website's "best albums of all time" list.
I think it deserved its praise.
One of the most overrated and overplayed metal records of all time. Not bad, but compared to their first 4 albums and most other albums from metal bands released around the same time as this (Rust in Peace, Cowboys From Hell, etc), it kind of feels inferior, especially with the more simplified radio-friendly sound of the album. Still better than what we got in 2003 and 2011 respectively and unlike some people, I think MoP deserves the hype it gets
Not a terrible album by any means, just ridiculously overrated.
One of the most overrated modern rock albums in existence... and in general the hype it gets is pretty annoying just like the hype for A7X itself...
Not as overrated as Hybrid Theory... but still pretty up there.
The movie's release has caused another massive does of this being overplayed.
I will probably get hate for adding this, but I personally think it's highly overrated.
I prefer Revolver
Not a bad album, but in general I think they've done better than this especially with the two albums that came before it.
Not a bad album but not Metallica's best.
More overrated than American Idiot and again while not being a bad album... is fair from their best.
I like this album but admittedly it's kinda overrated.
