Top 10 Most Overrated Symphonic Metal Bands

These Symphonic Metal bands aren't bad but they're somewhat overrated and get too much attention. I don't hate any of the bands on this list. I will also include Symphonic Death Metal bands for this list. However I'll be excluding bands that aren't symphonic metal like Evanescence.

1 Nightwish Nightwish is a symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and lead singer Tarja Turunen. It's currently formed by Tuomas, Emppu, lead vocalist Floor Jansen, bassist and vocalist Marco Hietala, multiinstrumentist and vocalist Troy Donockley, and drummer Jukka Nevalainen (currently on hiatus and replaced by Kai Hahto).

Great band but I have to admit that they's kind of overpraised. There's not that many sympho metal bands that are easily recognized like Nightwish, Epica, or WT

5 Therion Therion is a Swedish symphonic metal band founded by Christofer Johnsson in 1987. Its name was inspired by the Celtic Frost album To Mega Therion.
6 Xandria Xandria is a German symphonic metal band, founded by Marco Heubaum in 1997. The band's music combines elements of symphonic metal with light electronic elements.
7 Avantasia Avantasia is a German supergroup rock opera project created by Tobias Sammet, vocalist of the band Edguy.
8 Amon Amarth Amon Amarth is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Tumba, formed in 1992. The band takes its name from the Sindarin name of Mount Doom.

Hey, they aren't symphonic. They are about as symphonic as Slayer.

9 Children of Bodom Children Of Bodom was a melodic death metal band from Espoo, Finland. Formed in 1993, the final lineup consisted of Alexi Laiho, Janne Wirman, Henkka Seppälä, Jaska Raatikainen and Daniel Freyberg.

They are NOT symphonic. I won't even bother to comment on whether these 2 bands are overrated or not.
