True that he was an NBA star for one of the Knicks championship teams, but he was also an excellent Senator later in life, who made a serious run for president. A shame he did not get further.

Patton as president would have been something like having Trump as president. Really good at getting certain things done, really good at getting respect, although not too good when diplomacy and a touch of finesse was needed.

Patton was one of history's greatest figures, but probably not really a good choice for president. It was inevitable that a WW2 hero would be made president, and I think that Eisenhower was the correct choice, he was a great president.
