Hopefully I won't ever grow out of My Chemical Romance or Linkin Park. That's why I listen to them regularly, but also only from time to time, so they don't wear out their value
Believe it or not, I used to be emo. My phase was obsessed with this band and I only listened to the Black Parade. However it was on constant play on my Kindle for a while, before it was replaced. - MattAffterburner
I even have "phase" metal bands - I now wonder how I thought some metal bands were the greatest ever? But that was before I joined this site. - Metal_Treasure
This may be true for a lot of people, but I still really like this band and return to some of their songs every so often.

Although I was never a Pop Punk kid or an Emo kid(Especially not the latter) some of these were phase bands. But then again certain bands were too whiny for me(Simple Plan, Falling In Reverse, etc) - DarkBoi-X

I don't think there would be much point in denying that they are a phase band. Where did you come across that word? It occurred to me that perhaps a reason why boy bands tend to be short lived would relate to them being "phase bands" (their original fan-base grows out of them and instead of gaining new ones a newer band eg 5 seconds of summer (which I don't consider a pop rock band but more just a boy band) tends to take their audience). I think girl groups could apply just as well. By the way I have never hated One Direction or boy/girl bands in general I am just noting this. PS. Noticing Metal Treasures comment this does not surprise me I think probably any band could be a phase band for somebody but of course this list is about the most common ones.
I have never been a fan of them anyways. - RadioHead03
I never got into this “phase”. Yay! - Misfire

This band... lives up to the phrase "phase" band pretty damn well. I used to dig their music... but I really don't like it anymore. Chester's voice has aged poorly... and Mike Shinoda was the only decent aspect of their music. Also, it doesn't help that lots of their songs make me cringe now. There is some exceptions but very few... - BlueTelegraph
Not from the genres of the original list but they also apply pretty well how many older Linkin Park fans do you know?
