The Top Ten

1 The Raven

This is a masterpiece. Simply the internal rhymes are enough to make it #1.

I wish that a form of audio recording was available in Poe's time. His recital of The Raven was claimed to have been brilliant.

Pretty good poem, with a little horror in it, just one of Poe's great works.

Very good poem in my opinion. - HeavyDonkeyKong

2 The Charge of the Light Brigade
3 O Captain, My Captain
4 Paul Revere's Ride
5 The Road Not Taken

My second choice today: hard to resist. Good list. - Billyv

6 The Song of Hiawatha
7 I Wandered Lonely As a Cloud
8 Annabel Lee
9 Ozymandias
10 There Will Come Soft Rains

The Contenders

11 Nothing Gold Can Stay
12 The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Great poem! I also enjoy the song based on this poem, by Iron Maiden.

13 Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Most beautiful poem I've ever read.

16 Mariana
17 The Wreck of the Hesperus
18 The Eve of St. Agnes
19 Song Of The Moon (Cave Story: Moonsong)

"You are not alone! We are here for you! We're the spirits of the children killed by robotic men like you! Show us all your strength, and your bravery, and save our people from living life in slavery! "

20 Funeral Blues
21 One Christmas
22 Gunga Din
23 Rain Over Me
24 Watermelon - Charles Bukowski
25 Strange Meeting - Wilfred Owen
26 The Star-Spangled Banner - Francis Scott Key
27 The Lovesong of J Alfred Prufrock

Elliot's poety, whilst slightly confusing (and very ambiguous) is nonetheless phenomenal. His use of melodies, music and strangeness in this poem make it an absolute masterpiece. Sensational poet that could encapsulate an entire being into one poem, which Eliot achieved with such finesse with Prufrock. Wonderful poem. - Pb206

28 And Death Shall Have No Dominion
29 A Psalm of Life
30 Invictus
31 The Waste Land - T. S. Eliot
32 Caged Bird
33 Divine Comedy (Dante Alighieri)
