Top 10 Most Pointless Disney Movies

These are Disney movies that had absolutely no reason to be made.
The Top Ten
1 Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Why would they remake a movie that doesn't need to be remade? The original Beauty and the Beast was already perfect. In fact, in the remake, they barely even changed it. Yes, they added some new scenes, but they felt more like filler. Especially that awful magic book scene. What was up with that? And the stuff that they kept in from the original were either rushed or didn't have as much of an impact. In the original, the Beast showed Belle the library because he listened to her interests. In this movie, he basically says "I already read all these books so I might as well let you have them." This isn't a bad movie. It's not the worst remake to come out this year. Kong: Skull Island and Ghost in the Shell were much worse. But this movie didn't need to be made.

I feel like Disney is just repackaging their most beloved films with live-action actors and passing them off as "new" movies. There have been five live-action remakes this decade so far (Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent, Cinderella, Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast) and there are much more coming on the horizon. The Lion King remake is coming out in 2019, an Aladdin remake is coming, and a Mulan remake is coming as well. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually start doing remakes of the films they've made in the 2010s like Frozen, Moana, Zootopia, and Tangled. I just think that these remakes are just a giant cash grab for the studio. I definitely except more from a studio as prestigious as Disney. These remakes are the new Direct-to-DVD sequels.

I thought it was alright, but this was clearly made for money. At least The Jungle Book actually did some stuff right. The world was luscious and beautiful to look at and it managed to improve on the original. This...did not do that.

Why bother making a movie that didn't need to be made? This is pretty much the same thing as the animated one (the original). Although some lines are different, but still, this movie is pretty much the same as the original

2 Cinderella II - Dreams Come True

The prince finds the girl whose foot fits in the glass slipper, he and Cinderella get married, and they live happily ever after. The end. WRONG! That wasn't enough for them! They felt the need to tell us what Cindy and her prince did after marriage. Not just in one story, but in three. And they are all stupid! I watched this movie in elementary school because I guess my teacher thought kids will watch anything, and even back then I hated it! The first Cinderella movie had an ending that was both terrible and great. They should've just left it at that! I'm just glad that Cinderella 3 turned out to be better.

What's the point of a Cinderella 2 anyway? It's pointless

This is one of the worst animated movies I've watched.

3 Cars 2

Unlike some people, I like the first Cars movie. However, it was definitely Pixar's weakest movie at the time. And yet they made a sequel. Because money. They didn't even try with this movie. It's basically just one long toy commercial. Kids love spies and kids love cars. So they decided to combine the two in hopes of selling a bunch of toys! And admittedly the toys are better than this movie. I'm not gonna pretend like there was absolutely zero effort put into it. The animation is great and the action scenes are pretty cool. But the plot is stupid beyond belief. No one likes this movie! Except for some of the people on this site. From what I've read online, Cars 3 will pretend like Cars 2 never happened. That gives me hope. Because this is the kind of movie that makes me want to get run over by a car.

I can't be the only one who finds this series overrated. The first one was okay, but this entire series was made to sell toys. The Incredibles, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, and Inside Out were all better because they had an emotional aspect and they were way better as stories and movies in general. Why did we get a second one with very little effort put into it? I'm also not very hyped for Cars 3 because I feel like it's gonna be lazy. I don't know, but that's just me. We will see when I get into the theater to watch it.

I don't even know why this movie was ever made, the first one ended in a what this you really didn't need a cars 2, I was a really bad movie, it didn't even make any since, and all of the "james bond" crap was totally pointless.

Cars 2 made me went sleep it is the worst movie Pixar had ever made in my opinion. Cars 3 looks fine but, honestly they should have canceled it at part 1 because part 1 wasn't even that good to make a sequel

4 Big Hero 6

Intolerable plot with melodramatic rubbish and hackneyed characters.

The annoying behavior of Tadashi, Aunt Cass, Wasabi and GoGo pretty much ruined this film for me.

I agree, why is this on the list?

5 Brave

I don't like her I don't like her voice, idon't like her hair, she was a horrible princess, just plan sucky movie.

Sentimental rubbish

6 The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning

This movie was extremely pointless! At least Return to the Sea had a reason for existing! I don't hate this movie, but I can certainly see its flaws. Showing us how Ariel's mother died was a good idea. But that could've easily been used as a flashback in one of the other two films. I feel like this one scene was the reason why this movie was made. We don't care that King Triton banned music because of the death his wife. We didn't need to know that. We also find out how Ariel and Flounder met. Which, by the way, is a MAJOR plot hole! In the T.V. series, they showed us how they met and it was completely different from what they showed here. Everything else in the movie has no purpose. Wanna know why I don't hate this movie? Because Ariel is actually likeable for once! I also like that her sisters are included more. But this movie definitely didn't need to be made. On a related/unrelated note, Jodi Benson is gonna be at the D23 Expo this year.

The movie was decent, but after return to the sea I wasn't bothered for more.

7 Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

It's clear that they've run out of ideas. I thought they would at least try to make it seem like a whole new film, but it uses the same formula as the other films. From the trailers, it looked like it would be awesome, but I left the theater feeling very underwhelmed. The action is pretty entertaining and there are great visuals, but it barely does anything new. There were also very few laughs in this one. They turned Jack Sparrow into a complete idiot! Yes, he was kind of an idiot in the other ones, but they go overboard (no pun intended) with it here! Also, there's a post credits scene that most likely hints at a 6th Pirates of the Caribbean film. Does there really need to be 6 movies? They really need to end this franchise.

Put this in the top ten over Cars please. This movie screams absolutely nothing except for "END THIS SERIES ALREADY! " I agree with MegaSoulHero about this: Jack Sparrow was an idiot in this movie. Typically he's meant to be comic relief, but they took it WAYY too far with this one. He killed the already unfunny humor in the movie because he essentially was all of it. Considering he wasn't funny at all, the movie got practically no laughs from me. Also, can we keep in mind that he SOLD his compass in this movie, causing all the bad things to happen...and then he basically does NOTHING for the rest of the film?! This movie was clearly for money, and the next one is too. Disney is the cash cow company.

Way better than on Stranger Tides.

why did they make so many of this movies, the first one was very good I have seen it a lot, but all of the other ones where not any good.

8 The Hunchback of Notre Dame II

The first movie ended with Esmeralda and Phoebus ending up together. Leaving Quasimodo without a girlfriend. It's a little sad, but Quasimodo still seemed to be happy. But apparently they really wanted to give Quasi a girlfriend, so they came out with a godawful sequel. This sequel only exists to give Quasi a girlfriend. Which ends up happening. Kind of weird that a hideously deformed person is able to get a girlfriend whereas I, a very handsome person, still can't get one. It's too bad that his girlfriend was working with the villain. Kind of like another Disney movie that I hate so much.

9 Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World
10 Zootopia
The Contenders
11 Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rogue One wasn't an awful movie. I didn't hate it, but it was kind of unnecessary. They basically took the opening crawl from A New Hope and decided to turn it into a movie. It was a good idea, but at the same time, it didn't really need to happen. We know that some rebels got the Death Star plans but we didn't need to know the entire story of how they got the Death Star plans. This movie felt more like a cash in on people's nostalgia. They just threw in a bunch of Star Wars related stuff to appeal to the fanboys. But one thing they did do right was Darth Vader. I still love that ending. Rogue One is better than Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, but it's a pretty underwhelming film for the most part.

It's ridiculous how unneeded this was. You can literally SEE the cash cow getting milked through the theater screen. There was no point in telling us how the Death Star plans were found because we could just assume. Throwing Darth Vader and other popular characters in here is also a play on people's nostalgia. In fact, that's why everyone still likes this series of movies now, even though it's getting really terrible. Speaking of which, this movie is terrible. They focused way too much on the story, which was dumb because, since we saw A New Hope, we already knew how the story was going to end. The characters are bland and undeveloped...then they die and nobody cares because we don't know them, meaning it can't resignate. They also threw in Characters from the T.V. shows that regular audiences know absolutely nothing about, so they will be confused with the film. Such terrible and overrated garbage. And here I was thinking that "Force Awakens" was a huge cash grab on people's ...more

There was a very specific point to this. Two if you count profit-making. Why the hell is this here?

This movie wasn't pointless in my opinion.

12 Frozen Fever
13 Monsters University

This movie sucks! Did people seriously want to know how Mike and Sully met? Did they want to know so badly that they wanted to see an entire movie about it? I'm not a fan of college films. This movie is basically just every college film made but with monsters. It does nothing new! I loved Monsters Inc. The way it ended made me think that a sequel was possible. But instead, they thought it would be a better idea to make a pointless prequel. I know people like this movie, but I absolutely hate it. Maybe one day they'll make an actual sequel to Monsters Inc.

Did people really want to know how Mike and Sully met? Did they need to know so badly that they wanted to see an entire movie about it? Of course not! But here it is! This isn't to offend anyone who likes the movie, but if you think this movie is good, you're wrong. It sucks. It's pretty awful. I've never been a fan of college movies. And this is pretty much just every college movie ever made but with monsters. It does nothing new. I loved Monsters Inc. And I honestly think they should've made a sequel. The ending really made me think that a sequel could work. But instead, they decided to make such a pointless and bad prequel.

14 Lady and the Tramp II: Scamp's Adventure

What was the point of making a movie about one of their kids? I hate Scamp so much. The way the first film ended was really nice. Lady and Tramp get married, have kids, and live a happy life. Couldn't they have just ended it there? It would've made a lot more sense. We didn't need to know what one of the kids did after the events of the movie. It's just another dumb sequel that didn't need to happen. Also, why is it still called Lady and the Tramp? They're barely in it! The title is very misleading! There are people who like this movie and there are people who hate it. I'm one of the people who hate it. It's a very bad movie! It did not need to exist and very little effort was put into it.

15 Toy Story 4

I don't care if it isn't out yet. I'm pretty sure no one wants another Toy Story film. They're just milking the franchise at this point. Kind of like how Dreamworks is milking the Shrek franchise. Toy Story 3 had such a perfect ending. I can't think of a better way to end the franchise. So why are they making a fourth movie? It makes no sense! And apparently it's going to be a love story between Woody and Bo Peep. I like Bo Peep but come on! When this movie was announced at the D23 Expo in 2015, I literally rolled my eyes. It was great seeing Randy Newman perform You've Got a Friend in Me though. By the way, who are they going to get to voice Mr. Potato Head?

And they're making a fourth one because...money needs to happen? Really Pixar? You are severely better than this. You already ended this series with a beautiful ending that hit me emotionally with Toy Story 3. Why do we need another one? Why are they making this a ridiculous romance? Why do you think making another sequel to a popular franchise is going to get you more money and praise? Doesn't work like that.

They should've just left it as a trilogy, it had a perfect ending, it's still one of the greatest animated movie trilogies of all time, just like Ice Age was, the first 3 Ice Age movies were fantastic, perfect ending, but no, Blue Sky just won't stop, and now because of 4 and 5, Ice Age has lost it's good reputation, Toy Story will lose it too... unless this movie is a surprise

To be honest I'm not excited for a 4th Toy Story Movie. While I haven't seen it and I might change my mind, we don't need a 4th movie.

16 The Lion King (2019)

I'm honestly surprised that the RT score is a 54%. It would have gotten like a 40% like Dumbo. This movie felt like a fan-made movie with nothing new but the same old repeated stuff (even the dialogue). It feels like 2 hours of staring at lions with voice-overs. The new stuff added are just terrible. In Hakuna Matata, they added a fart joke in there; Zazu's only funny moment was removed from the movie; and the Hula Song was replaced with Be Our Guest (the one from Beauty and the Beast). But what they did to Mufasa's death is unforgivable. It's laughably bad and Scar had to slap Mufasa in the face because reasons...

My point still stands that they are money grubbing jackasses. They are remaking practically every movie of theirs and putting it into live-action...but they're improving NOTHING. Did Beauty and the Beast's remake improve anything? NO, so clearly it was for money because Disney is stale on ideas. Zootopia and Moana were their most unique ideas so far, and these live action movies as well as the milking of popular franchises such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars lead me to believe that they are desperate. Pixar had more dignity than Disney.

Yeah, remaking TLK has got to be the dumbest idea ever and this is coming from someone who hates the whole franchise. (No offense to anyone who likes TLK, I respect your opinion) It proves that Disney is greedy and money driven nowadays and it seems that TLK is the only thing most Disney fans care about nowadays (and even non-Disney fans because for no reason TLK has this appeal to fans of non-Disney animated movies that the other Disney animated canon movies don't have). The only thing "live-action" about the new Lion King live action movie are the backgrounds, the rest will be CGI. (i.e. characters, animals) Even so, surprised they considered this to be live-action and not a CGI remake.

I didn't really like the cartoon one, so I really didn't like this one.

17 Ralph Breaks the Internet

Yes, Disney, we get it. You so woke, and so up on the latest trends (read: memes). *roll eyes*

18 The Lion King

The live-action one is gonna be bad, but why add this classic? You do realize this is the highest grossing traditionally animated movie right?

Well I would stop claiming it's great (not the best movie ever) if you would stop bashing over it. - PeeledBanana

This is literally the best movie ever

Why is this on here? It's a classic

19 Brother Bear 2
20 Cars
21 Mulan II

They somehow managed to make a movie with a plot that made absolutely no sense contradict itself. It is also a slap in the face to the original movie.

Garbage! This movie is literally a filler movie for more money!

This makes Home on the Range look like The Emperor's New Groove!

It's really good

22 Planes

I just want to go full Sid Phillips on every single copy of this movie by blowing them up into unrecognizable pieces!

This movie is pure cancer, and so is the comment telling the site to take it off the list.

This is a great DisneyToon movie of 2013.

This 2013 Disney movie is a good movie.

GET THIS OFF THE LIST.

23 The Fox and the Hound 2
24 Cars 3

Why a third one? Who even asked for this? I don't care if some people think it looks good. We don't need a third installment. Both Pixar and Disney are just a shell of what they used to be now.

We do not need a third Cars movie. Pixar is out of ideas.
