Top Ten Pokémon Sprites In Pokémon Crystal

Pokémon Gold and Silver. In terms of sprite art, this is where things got a LOT better. Though, there where still some errors in some of the Pokémon's sprites. That, and there where still some that where a little but rough around the edges. Pokémon Crystal, however, got the sprites spot-on. It changed some of the Pokémon's poses, making them more dynamic, and fixed the colours of all wrongly-coloured Pokémon. Let me present to you, the best sprites Pokémon Crystal has to offer.
The Top Ten
1 Gengar Gengar, known in Japan by the same name, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Gengar's sprite wins this, by a landslide. It looks so dark and menacing, just like Gengar should be. I gotta tell you, the first time I fought Morty in Pokémon Gold, Gengar scared the crud out of me. This is probably still my favourite Gengar sprite in any Pokémon game, and that says something.

2 Snorlax Snorlax, known in Japan as Kabigon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Snorlax just looks so lovable in Pokémon Crystal! Just look at it, it looks as if it's just waking up from a really nice dream. Had a nice sleep, Snorlax? I hope you did.

3 Umbreon Umbreon, known in Japan as Blacky, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

If you ask me, Umbreon's sprite is the only good one from the Eeveelutions in Pokémon Crystal. Just like the other Eeveelutions, it has the adorableness going for it. Even though, being a Dark-type, it also looks creepy in a way. Or at least intimidating. And that's something I never thought I'd think of any of Eevee's evolutions. This is still a favourite sprite of mine.

4 Scizor Scizor, known in Japan as Hassam, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. It is a Bug - Steel type, and was first introduced in the Gen 2 games (Gold and Silver) in 1999.

The way it just stares straight at you while its throwing its steel claws is awesome. Add that beautiful crimson coat and cool physique and it's a no-brainer that Scizor takes the cake as the best sprite in the game

The colours... The menacing badassery... The proportions and the almost three-dimensional view of it's left claw... This Crystal sprite just screams amazing-ness! It helps that Scizor is an amazing Pokémon, too.

5 Typhlosion Typhlosion, known in Japan as Bakphoon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Typhlosion just looks ready to kick some tail in Pokémon Crystal. It looks pissed, and it's pose looks menacing and like it's ready to fight! Oh man, how I hated to go up against my friend's Typhlosion in the Pokémon Center Coliseum... ^^'

6 Gyarados Gyarados is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. It evolves from one of the weakest Pokemon, Magikarp. But Gyarados has a high attack power (as of gen VII, mega Gyarados is ranking #19 for highest attack stat & would rank #10 if legendary Pokemon aren't included), and ...read more.
7 Feraligatr Feraligatr, known in Japan as Ordile, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
8 Hitmonlee

Man, I love Hitmonlee's sprite in Pokémon Crystal. I love the dynamic pose of its kick, and its leg which is bent, and aimed right at your Pokémon's face. Better do something quick, or it will HI JUMP KICK your poor creature into a painful oblivion.

9 Slowking
10 Miltank Miltank, known in Japan as ミルタンク, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. It was introduced in Generation II of the series and is a female only species categorized as the Milk Cow Pokémon. It is a Normal type Pokémon.

Until Generation VI, Miltank was the only known Pokémon that could learn Milk Drink. This move is used to allow Miltank to restore half its own HP in battle, or prior to Generation VII give up some of its HP outside of battle to restore the HP to other Pokémon in the party. ...read more.

The body proportions are really accurate, that's already a lot more than most of the Pokémon in Gold, Silver, and Crystal can say for themselves. But what I liked best about Miltank in generation 2, is the eyes, and just the overal pleasant look Miltank gives you. Fits Miltank to a T.

The Contenders
11 Spinarak

Okay, so Spinarak really doesn't look all that good or cool in comparison to most of the others on this list. Still, I really like Spinarak's sprite in Pokémon Crystal. The best thing about it is that Spinarak is finally green! The idea in Gold and Silver was that you saw it in the dark, since Spinarak is a nocturnal Pokémon, but that was just silly. I guess Game Freak thought so too, and decided to make this welcome improvement.

12 Jigglypuff Jigglypuff, known in Japan as Purin, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
13 Aerodactyl Aerodactyl, known in Japan as Ptera, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
14 Meganium Meganium, known in Japan as the same name, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
15 Ninetails

I was going to place either Ninetails or Arcanine on the list, but I guess Ninetails just won this for me. Arcanine looks quite big an intimidating, but so does Ninetails. What's more, Ninetails also had the majestic look going for it, something that Arcanine just lacked in the second generation. Especially in Pokémon Gold. Just... That Gold sprite of Arcanine... Ugh.

16 Espeon Espeon, known in Japan as Eifie, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
17 Yanma Yanma, known in Japan as Yanyanma, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

Okay, first thing's first: Yanma is terrible. That doesn't say anything about how good it looked in the game though. I guess I'm a sucker for insects, but it just looks like it comes at you with it's big eyes, saying "Hi, potential trainer! PLEASE use me! I promise I'll be good! " Poor Yanma.

18 Azumarill

It's just so cute!
