Top Ten Pokemon Characters with the Worst Fanbase

The Top Ten
1 Serena Serena has proven to be a kind and polite girl but she can also be openly rebellious towards her mother, Grace. In Kalos, Where Dreams and Adventures Begin!, she refused to wake up when Grace ordered her to, and gave a sassy response to her mother's call to watch the news. This tumultuous relationship was best demonstrated when Grace made her practice Rhyhorn riding, an activity Serena had hated doing. However, their relationship is also very loving as shown in later episodes. Although shown to have a strong will, Serena can be sensitive and insecure at times as seen in Battling with Elegance and a Big Smile!. When she was frustrated with her Pokémon, she lashes out when at her limit and leaves ...read more.

"Serena not knowing Ash is in Alola."

Literally stating a hard, objective fact, but of course, Amourshippers can't even take that. How is this even something to get triggered over? How is this statement 'anti-Amour?' They're so pathetically insecure and desperate for validation!

Also, Serena knowing about Ash going to Alola would reinforce her stalker reputation, if it turned out to be true. They clearly didn't keep in touch after Kalos, so there's no other reason for her to know his whereabouts.

She's SO overrated and is only popular because of her canon crush and 'hotness.' Amourshippers never cease being SUPER shallow in their views about relationships and romance. Amour is such a trashy, wish-fulfillment, self-insert, coddle ship!

Send death threats to those who criticize her. Go as far into bashing other characters and users. Give everyone false hopes by making clickbaits about her "returning". Make lewd art of her. Start flame wars. Have false misconceptions about her such as "Amourshipping is canon" and "Ash and Serena are childhood friends". Like her because of the shipping. All about the shipping
Her fanbase couldn't be worse than this.

I literally mentioned something about Serena not knowing Ash is in Alola on Twitter, and instead of someone just telling me that Brock also didn't know Ash was in Hoenn/Sinnoh as a counter argument, he started to go nuts on me.

Like chill maybe? You don't have to lose it over a tweet that wasn't even hating on Serena. Honestly trying to reason with him was like talking to a brick wall. This is an example why people come on this website to talk about Serena. You get bashed anywhere else. Even if it's not even negatively talking about her character.

2 Red Red is a Pokémon Trainer from Pallet Town, Kanto. He is the first character to be playable in the Pokémon series and his initial appearance is set in the Generation I main games. He has since then made various appearances in Pokémon media, including the Generation III remakes of Red, Green, Blue, ...read more.

Even though the battle in Gold was good (makes me wish other protagonists had cameos like that in other games... oh well) this guy is idealized a lot because he was from first gen. I get he's part of your childhood but you don't need to bash the other main characters to overrate him. Red's (and Mewtwo's) fans are basically genwunners: the fandom, and we all know how awful some of these genwunners are, childishly insulting anyone who doesn't worship first gen and hates every other gen, sometimes makes you wonder if they really grew up in the 90s or if they're 8 years old kids childishly insulting anyone who has a different opinion.

People always compare Ash with him.
Well he's simply the avatar of the player. He can be either better worse or as bad as Ash. Depending on how you play him.

Manga Red? He's the real deal. He's objectively a way better character than Ash.

He's literally a player character with no given personality and no voice. Sure, he's considered a legend but he's not the greatest trainer ever and I don't like how the fandom treats him like a God because he happens to be the very first protagonist to ever exist in Pokemon.

What's annoying with red is that everyone loves him for BEING THE BIGGEST MARTY STU OUT THERE IN THE WHOLE MEDIA. "Red is so col because he defeated every1 is strong gots mew2 & all kanto pkmn & is the strongest! 2! 1! 1! 1! 1! " Wow what a boring character. It's like people don't care about deep, complex characters that have to struggle to achieve anymore. He has no personality. Even in origins he's just this boring kid whose so hellbent on doing good that he refuses to accept a badge from a bad guy. There's nothing interesting or deep about his character. They just make him the biggest Marty Stu with typical shonenn main male character traits. BORING!

3 Misty Misty, known as Kasumi in Japan, is a character in the Pokémon franchise owned by Nintendo and created by Satoshi Tajiri. She’s the gym leader in Cerulean city & specializes in water Pokemon. In the games, she’s known as ‘the tomboy mermaid.’ ...read more.

Bash all the other girls and overrate an abusive bully. Also genwunners who insult anyone who likes another Poke Girl or ship, ship an abusive toxic relationship, "Lana is a bad copy of Misty!1!" just because they both love Water type, at least Lana is likable.

Also people who rage about Ash getting Totodile or Squirtle, as if she was entitled to every single Water type (especially considering she literally doesn't do anything with her Pokemon, people rage about Brock getting Mudkip because he doesn't do anything with it compared to Ash, yet they want Misty, an even more useless character to get another starter). These are not better than the fans who whine about Ash not getting an Eevee that was never set up to go with him in the first place.

We get it, you hate the Anime now because your red haired water waifu is gone. Just please just up and respect people's opinions already! What's so darn bad about May and Dawn?! At least they didn't take half of a season in order to become likable!

From all the pokemon fanbases I've come across, pokeshipper have the most and biggest jerks. even when you politely give your opinion about pokeshipping vs another ash shipping and not knowing that they're pokeshippers, because it is never stated or implied yet. And they immediately start insulting me in the most childish way.

I love the fact that Ash keeps destroying Misty about the fact that she is arrogant and the complete opposite of beautiful.

4 Gardevoir Gardevoir is a third-generation Pokémon species originally introduced as a Psychic type creature in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.

... Why is it when there's a good looking character (or humanlike creature, in this case) people ruin it immediately with perverted crap! Besides this is a Pokemon not even an human, it's so gross and sick. I like the Pokemon, a lot, but I tend to stay away from the fanbase lol. (also, Hatterene and Gothitelle are pretty bad too, would people stop making Pokemon p0rn already?!)

Why did you have to ruin this beautiful Pokemon, internet?

As much as I was deciding to vote for Serena, this one takes the g-damned cake. The (millennial) internet has always over sexualized this Pokémon because "it's 'acceptable'". ENOUGH! NO MORE! WHERE TF ARE YOUR PARENTS, YOU G-DAMN PERVERTS?!

If people are going to draw these disgusting pictures of pokémon, they should at least keep them off the internet!

5 Blue

Blue is a good character in the post kanto games. However, in the Kanto games, he sucks. HARD.

No everybody, he is not the best rival. Maybe in terms of Challenge, he is, but in terms of overall character, he is actually by far the worse. BY. FAR.

He never learns his lesson. he is not funny. He is just a triggered ten year old who claims to be better than Red no matte rhow many times Red beats him down. people hate Hau for healing your Pokemon before battle, and Love Blue for challenging you when your half drained. WHAT?!

Blue challenging you when your half dead and on your way to the Pokemon Center is not the rival thing to do. hau healing your team is. Hau wants to fight fair with you. He wants to beat you when your at your best. With Blue, even if you crush him, despite half of your team being completely dead and the othe rhalf being poisoned, he still has the audacity to call himself better than you.

Blue is not a rival, people, he is just a triggered ...more

I don't get where people say he doesn't give you a chance to heal? The only time where I can think of where he challenges you at an inconvenient time (where you have to go out of your way to get to a Pokemon center) is the S.S Ann and the silph co (but you can eaisy see him before he is able to challenge you & have a place to quickly go back to to heal). But even then you have a good chance of being able to heal before challenging him. The rest of the time I can think of is you where just too lazy to go scroll through nurse joy's text & didn't bother healing yourself before moving on (aka your fault).

Also him being a 'jerk' seems extremely over exaggerated. The worst he did was told red that he can stay home because he doesn't need him. But blue's main character trait was always just over confident/having an over inflated ego. That does make him annoying, but not a bully/jerk/jack@$$/@$$/etc... there are even times where his friendly around him via telling him how many Pokemon ...more

Blue is responsible for people bashing and hating all the other rivals (Except for Silver) for not being an ass you want to punch in the face like where does it say you have to be an ass to be a rival?

Ok so people hate him because he's a jerk. And yet they hate the nicer rivals in the new games and asked for mean rivals. Such hypocrisy. In fairness, his hatebase isn't any better.

6 Charizard Charizard, known in Japan as Lizardon, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. Created by Ken Sugimori, Charizard first appeared in the video games Pokémon Red and Blue and subsequent sequels. They have later appeared in various merchandise, spinoff titles and animated and printed adaptations of the franchise. Shin-ichiro Miki, the actor who voices James in the original Japanese version of the Pokémon anime, voices Charizard in both the Japanese and English-language versions of the anime. An orange, draconic Pokémon, Charizard is the evolved form of Charmeleon and the final evolution of Charmander. It has two other forms, Mega Charizards X and Y, which are its ...read more.

The haters are just as bad. Nevertheless, the fanboys are the very reason why the haters of my very favorite Pokemon even exist in the first place, in my opinion.

Not going to lie, I always liked the other two starters more than Charizard.

People whining all over the internet

7 Brock Brock is a character from Pokemon and is created by game freak & Nintendo. He was the first gym leader in pewter city, and specializes in rock Pokemon . ...read more.

Clemont is better than Brock in my opinion. And depending how the Pokemon Sun and Moon series goes, Kiawe may also be better than Brock because he became one of the best characters in the show just from episode 11 alone.

8 Mewtwo Mewtwo is a psychic-type Legendary Pokémon from Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon media franchise. Designed by Ken Sugimori, it made its first appearance in the games Pokémon Red and Blue. It was created by Dr. Fuji using gene splicing in an attempt to clone Mew. In the Pokémon games, it's infamously known as the most powerful Pokémon among all species. Mewtwo is capable of evolving into two forms - Mega Mewtwo X (using Mewtonite X) and Mega Mewtwo Y (using Mewtonite Y)
9 May

This annoying pathetic character always have her flaws overlooked in the favor of not being Misty and Serena that the hatedom likes to screw all the time.

I don't like May but fanbase kept insisting she is some kind of 'no wrong' person. To be fair she was very mean to Ash ketchum. Remember that episodes in which May and the gang meets crazy Norman (May's dad) fans. She physically assaulted Ash in that episode. And on a latter episode also insulted Ash even though Ash never said anything bad to her. And even risked himself for her... Serena maybe a log but she was never mean to Ash. Misty maybe harsh but she saved Ash from dying twice. May on the hand was there to be saved by guys instead of doing anything on her own. Yes Dawn was greater coordinator than her. Iris was physically strong. But my favourite character will always be 'Sapphire '

This AdvanceArcy aka the user Liinde, seems to have only one thing to do here, "bring Misty everywhere and bash her." Even if the post is not about Misty.
Okay we get it, Misty is the worst person from whom Ash got his life handed to him TWICE. But your precious May is no angel. She was a dick to Ash too.

I hate may. Her fanbase is always rude and biased. People have all rights to not like a character if they don't want to. she's basically a damsel material and I am tired of this stupid argument that Ash will end up with her because he saved her. By that logic Ash should end up with Pikachu and Serena the most. Besides may never saved Ashs life. so it can be also said that she won't end up with Ash solely because if saving=ending up
Then
Not saving = not ending up.

10 Dawn Dawn is a character from Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. In the games diamond, pearl, and platinum version she was one of the playable characters you can choose from. She will be an assistant for professor Rowan if you choose her male counterpart, Lucas. ...read more.

Some are nice but others are fanatics who are convinced Dawn is surperior to the other girls because she got a co-star status in the anime. The pearlshippers are worse, though, but they are not as bad as other certain fans

Mostly what I've seen from her fanbase were people defending her with logical reasoning. Though I heard the pearlshipping fandom can be god awful but nowhere close to Amourshipping and Pokeshipping hell

A lot of thirsty fans tend to oversexualize Dawn. Of course, she isn't the only victim, but isn't it weird to call a 10 year old hot?

I love dawn, but the other fans need to chill

The Contenders
11 Lusamine Lusamine is a fictional character introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. She is the head of the Aether Foundation.

People are willing to ignore she's a horrible person because she's a hot MILF and claim she's the hottest female in Pokemon Sun and Moon which I honestly disagree with but whatever.

12 Drew

Contestshippers are so evil. Even after having their shipping and Drew being bashed abused by toxic advanceshippers, they never target advanceshipping and Ash ketchum to write a bashful story. By making Ash a evil rapist monkey which moronic advanceshippers do to a friendly protective rival like Drew.
So yeah I think contestshippers are evil and very very aggressive. How dare they defend themselves for being mindlessly bashed by rude mean Drew haters. Ugh totally evil.

Shippings are stupid in general. Besides Ash and Drew never hated each other. They never bickered. Remember Drew has even saved Ash. And always protects May from that Cacturne cosplayer. Sure he was a Gary 2.0. But Gary was far more ruder than Drew ever was.

I manly don't like the ContestShippers. Not because I am a partial Advanceshipper, which I am, but because ContestShippers are extremely aggressive towards Advanceshippers. Not as much as Pokeshippers and then also Amourshippers though. Thank God.

Love Drew. Loathe contestshipping.
Because I am a overprotective respectshipper

13 Lillie Lillie is a fictional character introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. She serves as one of the player character's allies and traveling companions during the course of the game.

Her anime counterpart is a spoiled brat.

14 Ash Ketchum Ash Ketchum, known as Satoshi in Japan, is a fictional main character in the Pokémon franchise owned by Nintendo. Ash is training to be a Pokemon Master, with his buddy Pikachu. Ash tries to stop the evil Team Rocket from stealing his Pikachu.

Ash receives a lot of hate, and, while sometimes justified, a lot of this hate is plain stupid and seems just there to hate for the sake of hating (like how he isn't interested in girls or Serena/Misty in particular, or how he 'abandoned' Greninja or Goodra despite the fact he released them upon the Pokemons' demand because he doesn't want to trap them with him if they want to stay somewhere). So I can understand why some of the fans might be defensive.

However, something I can't stand about his fanbase is how they tend to hate any character that is either a little rude to Ash or gets a glory moment/something they think Ash should get! I understand Misty, she's a bully and she's generally mean and unlikable to everyone so it's easy to dislike her. But come on!

Iris playfully calls him a little kid? What a dislikable brat! Alain beats him at the League? This cheating Gary Stu (while I'm not going to deny Alain may come off as a Gary Stu... so does Ash at times, yeah?) ...more

Ash is boring as hell, but his rabid fandom is stuck on him remaining the main character because "muh nostalgia." Ugh...

"Muh crappy ass childhood character I grew up with." Ash is a loser. He's weak. I just want to see the writers get rid of him.

This guy has a blind, biased, rabid fanbase. Which gave birth to his haters

15 Lucario Lucario is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. Created by Ken Sugimori, Lucario first appeared as a central character in the film Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, and later appeared in the video games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and subsequent sequels, also appearing ...read more.
16 Professor Kukui Professor Kukui is a fictional character introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. He is a Pokémon Professor from the Alola region, as well as the founder of Alola's Pokémon League.
17 Greninja Greninja is a Water/Dark type Pokemon introduced in Gen 6. It is the evolved form of Frogadier and the final evolved form of the water starter Froakie. Aside from the usual Torrent ability all Water starters have (Which raises the power of its Water moves), it also has the ability Protean, which changes it's typing to the latest move it used. In Sun/Moon, Greninja also has the ability Battle Bond, which transforms him into his stronger form Ash-Greninja after defeating a Pokemon. Greninja's signature move is Water Shuriken. Not only does it hit up to 5 times, it also allows Greninja to attack first.

Greninja is amazing but its fanbase is awful..

The reason Delphox is so underrated. And Greninja is so OVERRATED! I HATE GRENINJA SO MUCH!
I always beat it up in smash bros.

18 Mallow

It's always nice to see people who like Mallow since she seems to have a small fanbase and pretty large hatebase, but for Arceus' sake PLEASE stop making gross fanart of a darn TEN YEARS OLD KID you ped0s!

Like with Gardevior, it's hard to find art of Mallow that isn't disgusting and sexualized to all hell. Lay off Mallow, holy crap.

19 Braixen Braixen is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in the Pokémon franchise's sixth generation. It evolves from Fennekin and is characterized by its witch-like appearance and the twig it carries. Braixen's twig can be used to cast spells and generate flames for attacks. Its design reflects its potential for both offensive and magical abilities in battles.
20 Iris Iris is from the Pokemon bwhite version & Pokemon black 2 & white. She ether was the gym leader in Opelucid city in white version. She first appeared to aid Bianca, Burgh, and the playable character when Bianca's Munna was stolen, & acted as a bodyguard. In Black 2 & White 2, she was the champion. Iris specializes in dragon types. ...read more.
21 Zoroark Zoroark is a dark type Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game freak's Pokémon franchise. It evolves from zorua at level 30.

Mistaken as a werewolf by many when it's a fox. It's an "Illusion Fox Pokemon" for crying out loud, and werefoxes do exist in fiction. So why see it as something it isn't? Let's not forget that the haters are bad, too.

22 Acerola
23 Incineroar
24 Wicke
25 Decidueye Decidueye, known in Japan as Junaiper, is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise.
