Did you see how many times Ash tried to defeat her. She didn't have too much to do with the story, but she apperead for a good amount of episodes, I sure felt Ash trying to take out that Kingdra.
Korrina is a fictional character in the Pokémon Series as the Shalour City Gym leader in the XY series, in the anime she's a cheerful girl with a explosive personality she has a Lucario who she raised and grew up with from when it was a Riolu, she was later tasked by her grandfather Gurkinn with finding the elusive Lucarionite which would allow for her Lucario to mega evolve. She had a significant mini-arch which is generally what makes some gym leaders like Clair so great. The fact that she had a Mega Lucario was awesome. I'm glad she actually used Lucario in the gym battle instead of Hawlucha, who wouldn't be so exciting.

Well, this choice is quite interesting. Fantina had several apperances throughout the diamond and pearl series, she was always not at her gym, which annoyed Ash very much. And I love her accent! Magnifique!

This might be a bit bias because I really like Volkner in the games. But he's cool in the anime too. He has a great team and I'm glad they used his team in platinum. I would have been disappointed to see an Ambipom on his team in the show.
I know the Best Wishes series isn't too popular, but I liked some things like Ash's battle with Roxie. She used three Pokemon while Ash used six. And still almost won. Her Koffing was so amusing since it was so strong.Overall I loved the Virbank Gym Battle.
Like Korrina, Maylene had some Lucario issues. Her Lucario gave up on her when she got REKT by Paul. She only realized why Lucario lost her trust while battling with Dawn.
She isn't too popular but I like to think she has a significant plot as she predicted the supposed "Zygarde Disaster" where Kalos is engulfed by green flames. Even Diantha consulted her in XYZ 25
