Top Ten Post-Hardcore Bands of All Time

JamNamZamHam
These are the best post-hardcore bands out there. If you disagree, you're missing out.

The Top Ten

1 Pierce the Veil Pierce the Veil Pierce the Veil is an American post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2006, the band was founded by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after the disbandment of the group Before Today, which was formed out of the San Diego punk rock scene.

How are they not number 1. This whole list is ruined

Honestly pierce the veil has saved my life and I'm not joking it kills me to know that music has to save my life not my family or friends. When I'm close to doing it I think I gotta listen to them one more time before I go and so as I let blood drip off my chest and think about going for my wrists I feel like Vic warns me not to do it through his songs and I stop it's almost as if destiny sets the songs to stop me. The bring me into and out of depression and I love it now.

Pierce The Veil are a very underrated band. They deserve to be in the top spot. Each member of the band is EXTREMELY talented, and their music is unique. Their songs have very deep and meaningful lyrics and Vic Fuentes' voice is just... Wow. Words can't explain how amazing his voice is.

Pierce the Veil is my favourite post-hardcore band of all time because, not only are they extremely talented lyrically and musically, but they're just a bunch of awesome guys with big hearts. They've helped me through tough times because their songs express what I have in my head perfectly. I honestly don't know what I would've done without them.

2 A Day to Remember A Day to Remember A Day to Remember (often abbreviated ADTR) is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida, founded in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their unusual amalgamation of metalcore and pop punk. The band currently consists of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist ...read more.

Forget best best post hardcore band, this is just one of the best bands ever.

A Day to Remember are a bunch of awesome bunch of normal people and played music an did what they loved. Their music is amazing, the lyrics so powerful, and their videos are so funny!

They became my most listened band in my playlist since I discover them.

This is not post hardcore! Where do u people get that idea? The band wants to be but they're guitar is too double harmony metalcore/emocore and lyrics pop and no time changes. Drummer isn't outstanding either. And saddest thing is singer can't sing live without effects vocalizer. This band is the equivalent to my era Blink 182. They are pop punk. Just with a metal element. Most songs are punk though.

3 Bring Me the Horizon Bring Me the Horizon Bring Me the Horizon is a British rock band from Sheffield, Yorkshire. Formed in 2004, the group currently consists of vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls, and keyboardist Jordan Fish. They are signed to RCA Records globally and Columbia Records exclusively ...read more.

They used to suck before 2013 but Sempiternal and That's the Spirit are good albums. That's the spirit is Post Hardcore or Alternative Rick with Screamo influences while Sempiternal(Their best album) is Metalcore and Post Hardcore.-DarkBoi-X

If you listen to their first album don't expect anything like it in their later works. I love this band though. Ollie's lyrics touch home and the songs are tightly written. I guess you could call them post hardcore because of breaks downs and Vox vocals, otherwise they're pretty melodic in their later works, first albums straight metalcore

Bring Me The Horizon is NOT post-hardcore. They are METAL overall. Yes, the That's The Spirit album is post-hardcore, but if you think they're the best post-hardcore band, OOOH BOY, are you wrong. They are the best METAL band because of "There's A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It" and "Suicide Season" and "Sempiternal" album. Though they are one of my favorite bands, they should not be a top post-hardcore band.

Forget about the looks! This is about the music! I mean, their lyrics are deep and have a great meaning and the melodies are catchy and strong.

4 Silverstein

During I became a metalhead while grew older, Silverstein is the only emo/posthardcore band I still enjoy.

The first Post-Hardcore group I ever heard, and I'll never stop being a fan. for 20 years they've been staples of the genre, practically inventing it by fusing goth and emo sounds with experimental post-punk beats and grooves that helped cement the genre in the early 00's before metalcore overtook it and became the stigmatized norm it is now. When talking post-hardcore, we must remember that it has eras of sound that are very unique. from the post-punk originators of Fugazi, to the Post-hardcore sound most of us grew up with like Silverstein and Alexisonfire, to the glitzy pop-inspired sounds of metalcore bands like Escape the Fate and Sleeping with Sirens. When we combine all three into a single genre, its clear what bands stand the test of time and scrutiny.

Could never really get into other post hardcore bands. Sleeping with sirens? No thanks. Bmth, ptv. I don't know just didn't suit my tastes. It all felt too.. scene. I don't know. Silverstein is cool. Their music makes sense to me and I'm no longer into post hardcore or emo music, but Silverstein is still good. They've stood the test of time and I can put discovering the waterfront on and sing along to every word like I'm in middle school still. Adtr and old escape the fate too, but only certain songs. A lot of the screaming is over the top in my opinion, and/or the singing is too whiny. Silverstein is the right combination of all the things. Love these guys.

Now this is post-hardcore, this list is ridiculous, the fact that sleeping with sirens is higher than them is beyond me, these guys have been around for almost 20 years now and never released any bad songs or albums

5 Sleeping with Sirens Sleeping with Sirens Sleeping with Sirens is an American Rock band from Orlando Florida. The band formed in 2009. SWS lead singer is Kellin Quinn

They're an amazing band with great lyrics. Kellin's voice is very rare. Their music helps you go through everything. They've changed my life and made me, me. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be the way I am now.

I love Sleeping With Sirens they have a good mix of screaming and singing and I like that

I love every single album, the variety, originality, and Kellin's unique voice. The acoustic versions and heavier songs are equally as good, with brilliant lyricism that sticks in my head all day. Without a doubt my favourite band.

I just can't even describe this, they're so good my words are just discombobulated when I try to describe just how good they are. they are full of meaningful lyrics and in my opinion help me when I'm down. they should be number one!

Best band EVER Danny worsnop ( vocalist ).
Can do it all sing he can do mid range screams
High, low deathcore screams.

This band became famous because bands like them are RARE because danny has a pure an clear singing voice and low screams

I love asking alexandria even ma girlfriend

Out of the 10 in this list they are the best.

7 Of Mice & Men Of Mice & Men Of Mice & Men is an American metalcore band from Orange County, California. The band's lineup currently consists of lead vocalist and bassist Aaron Pauley, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, and drummer Valentino Arteaga.

The soul and metaphor poured into everything written by the band is so extraordinary I don't think any band has saved lives the way Of Mice And Men has. What Austin Carlile has been through and the strong unchanging outlook on life he has just puts such a firm grounding on the band. This band has given me personally such a firm structure on how to live life I don't think anyone could impact me the way this band has.

Austin Charlie is an amazing singer! His vocals are just great! At first I didn't like their stuff but after listening to O.G. loko, I immediately fell in love with the catchi-ness of the "Meet my Dedication, Inspiration" part. Even the band members are great people!

Wow why is of mice and men so low that's my favorite band ever

Of mice and men have amazing vocals and great screams with amazing breakdowns.

8 Alexisonfire Alexisonfire Alexisonfire is a five-piece Canadian post-hardcore band that formed in St. Catharines, Ontario in 2001. The band consists of George Pettit, Dallas Green, Wade MacNeil, Chris Steele, and Jordan Hastings.

I'm shocked that AOF aren't in the top 3 of this list! Especially since that they're back together again! All of the other bands that are above have no clue what GOOD music is!

They were here before post-hardcore was popular - danimey

This is one of the best post hardcore bands to have existed. They are the reason these crap bands on top the list exist. They fused old post harcore and the new sound together to pave way for the horrible crap that is made today. There music was so powerful its sad they only played a handful of sold out shows before they broke up. And back together for the summer of 2015 tour they are only playing a handful again but hopefully to test the waters. We may have a true post hardcore band writing music again.

On of the few good Post Hardcore bands on the list. Also half of these bands are Metalcore

9 Ice Nine Kills

What the hell? Ice nine kills are amazing they should be in the top 5! I'm telling you TOP 5! They are an amazing band with amazing choruses and lyrics. Listen to what I never learned in study hall or jonathan. Both are great and I'd slap you if you think they're bad

These guys aren't that bad, but I don't like them as much as most of the others on this list. One of their songs that I've heard is good.

They should be number two

Why isn't this band in top 5?

10 Falling In Reverse Falling In Reverse Falling in Reverse is an American post hardcore band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2008, signed to Epitaph Records.

God, Radke sucks. I can't listen to his voice for 5 seconds without wanting to shoot myself. Sad part is, he gets all of the attention and overshadows the rest of the actually talented band. Same for most bands like this one.

Ronnie Radke used to be singer for Escape The Fate but when he got kicked out it he made Falling In Reverse. FIR has catchy songs, awesome beats, beautiful melodies.

This band deserves a spot in the top 5. Theve over came the bs and got the job done. And I've seen them live and I must say Ronnie Radke has the best live performance in the music scene.

They deserve to be farther up. FIR is one of the best

11 Escape the Fate Escape the Fate

Awesome band. Just listen to The Guillotine.

Escape the fate has done an amazing job of creating a beautiful album... 4 times! They are so underrated and they deserve to be bigger that falling in reverse... no offense ronnie

Escape the fate is absolutely amazing. Enough said.

This band has best music and history so far...

12 Underoath Underoath Underoath is an American rock band from Tampa, Florida. Founded by Dallas Taylor and Luke Morton on November 30, 1997, in Ocala, Florida; subsequently its additional members were from Tampa.

Literally my all time favorite needs to be number 1

Underoath was one of my first hardcore bands and will forever be one of my favorites, the reason why they should be first is because of their raw emotion and beautiful rhythms and melodies. They were was before their time and had one of the most talented drummers I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. By the way why isn't Dance Gavin Dance on this list?

Should be number one, they were ahead of their time. Without Underoath we wouldn't be able to enjoy most of the bands we listen to now. They stayed true to their real hardcore roots while they were breaking down boundaries too step by step! Still, they were never really considered as a "sell out" band

Without this inspirational band I bet half these bands on this list wouldn't be here today. Underoath has made some of the the best Post-hardcore/Metalcore songs to date. They never sold out, they just kept getting heavier and heavier throughout their amazing career.

13 Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows

OK so I get the low ranking cause they only made one album but I mean come on it was good.

Yup.. the only album that they made was incredible.. probably the best album I heard in 2011

14 Enter Shikari

Sorry you're not a winner the best post hardcore song

Technically Electro Post-harcore but post harcore all the same. This band has been using electro and post harcore in their music since they started back in 2006. They are so popular overseas in Europe that they sold out tours for past 2 albums. They express political messages like most p-hdcore bands do and not about emo heartbreak. True post hardcore bands songs are usually so different its hard to classify into one genre, they also use time changes, sing/scream, experiment with ambient/techno/ or effects pedal sounds, and have amazing drummers that do off beats majority of the time. This band does all of that. The only band doing something truly out of the box before anyone else was.

15 Glassjaw Glassjaw Glassjaw is an American post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York. The band is fronted by vocalist Daryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck.

Glassjaw is the Godfather of Post-Hardcore. Just like a previous comment mentioned, no one else on this list would even be relevant if it weren't for the foundation this band laid out before the genre even started to blow up at the turn of the century

All these new fake post hardcore bands have nothing on bands like glassjaw. A true post hardcore band has ambient sounds, a great drummer that does off beats, experiments with sound, time changes, and meaningful lyrics not just about heartbreak. That's what glassjaw encompasses to this day. Glad they are back together.

None of those bands in the top 10 would be relevant without Glassjaw and At The Drive In. Tainting the Post-Hardcore legacy Glassjaw and At The Drive In created in the early 00's by not trying to be different to anyone else. Content with being generic

Amazing band that helped build the genre. I can't even believe they're not in the top 10. Daryl's clean and unclean vocals help create this genre.

16 We Came As Romans We Came As Romans We Came as Romans (abbreviated as WCAR) is an American metalcore band from Troy, Michigan, formed in 2005. WCAR is the best band. They should so be higher is the list.

WCAR are excellent. I saw them at Rockville and they were spot on.

Ever since Tyler Carter left, they'll be different. But Hance Alligood is by far better and will make a great replacement. - JamNamZamHam

Black veil brides are not post hardcore they are hair metal

One of my favorite bands!

Are you serious 34 have y'all heard andy's voice and scream and the guitar solos and the meaningful lyrics?

THEY DESERVE TO BE AT LEAST IN THE TOP 10

19 Dance Gavin Dance

Dance Gavin Dance is easily the best post-hardcore band on this list. All of the vocalists (particularly Tilian) are incredible. Will Swan is amazing. All of their songs are catchy and so intricate I don't understand how you people can think My Chemical Romance is better.

So much catchy, it's like find order in chaos.

Should be Number 1

Great, all of the emos invaded this list and put asking alexandria and My Chemical Romance so high up. this band deserves more credit

20 Memphis May Fire

Matty Mullins sounds awesome no matter what! One of my favorite bands.

Matty mullins is great overall

21 Our Last Night

Real Post-Hardcore band.
Lots of bands on the list are mostly Metalcore but not really Post Hardcore

One of the best post hardcore bands I've listened to plus they do some of the best covers I've ever heard

A truly amazing band!

22 Fugazi Fugazi Fugazi is an American punk rock band that formed in Washington, D.C. in 1987. The band consists of guitarists and vocalists Ian MacKaye and Guy Picciotto, bassist Joe Lally and drummer Brendan Canty.

Fugazi essentially made post-hardcore a genre. The fact that they are this low on the list shows me that there is a significant rift between the original post-hardcore, and what is big right now. It is essentially like there are two or three different genres with the same name.

The Beatles of post-hardcore

Post hardcore fans, please, vote this band to be number one.

The only post-hardcore band that matters

23 My Chemical Romance My Chemical Romance My Chemical Romance was an American rock band from Jersey City, New Jersey, active from 2001 to 2013. For much of their career, the band consisted of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, bassist Mikey Way, and drummer Bob Bryar.

I hate their fanbase, but this band rocks! They were theatrical, incredibly talented, and just amazing. They will always be in my top 10 for sure.

They deserve to be way higher! This band is the most amazing band on the planet. They have saved thousands of lives including my own. The lyrics to their songs are very sinister yet meaningful. They have such a good sound to them and an amazing vibe.

They're not always post hardcore but when they are, they're pretty awesome at it..
My Chemical Romance is one of my favourite bands I think they deserve to be on here at least somewhere

This band definitely deserves to be in the Top 10. They are an awesome mix of post hardcore, emo, and pop punk. Definitely deserve to be in the Top 10

24 Alesana

I Love you the lyrics

Alesana should seriously be no. 1! They are the reason I love post-hardcore. They can put heavy and ballad in one song.. And they are kickass live..

ALESANA great awesome all of the time

A brilliant band, the one that got me into post-hardcore

25 A Skylit Drive

How are they not in the top 20? They deserve at LEAST that if not higher. Wires and the Concept of Breathing is one of my favorite albums of all time, and All It Takes For Your Dreams to Come True was the song that first got me into heavy music.

If I could kill for one voice, it'd be for the singer of this band. His voice is beautiful. And the screams are just amazing. - JamNamZamHam

Amazing mix of powerful (yet beautiful) vocals, Brian Whiite and the drummer's deep growls put together so pefectly... Nothing can beat it.

Eek bingit :D love it

26 Dillinger Escape Plan Dillinger Escape Plan

Dillinger Escape Plan is one of the first post hardcore bands and easily the standard of what the genre sound encompasses. Time changes, ambient sounds, and powerful lyrics sung/screamed by a talented singer. These bands have the best drummers in the scene. I first heard them when Mike Patton was the singer in 2000 at a show where he finished by taking a dump on the pa speaker. Needless to say I can see why they replaced him pretty soon after with the similarly looking new singer who is good if not better in my opinion but a lot like the old better.

27 In Fear and Faith

A hard decision it was, between IFAF and We Came As Romans, but I for the moment, these are the best.

28 At the Drive-In

Great music, great attitude, the core of post hardcore

People claiming that any of the top ten bands are post-hardcore should die. My Chemical Romance saved your life? Please. They didn't. If 'Na Na Na' seriously stopped you from committing suicide you should go see a psychiatrist.

Them and Fugazi are the only good ones

If only because of Relationship Of Command

29 From Autumn to Ashes

Great band but not exactly post hardcore

30 Senses Fail

Best of it original post hardcore tone for "those bands"

Always a classic to listen too.

One of the best bands of all time in my opinion. James "Buddy" Nielson's lyrics are so powerful and people can really connect with them. So amazing.

This is not post hardcore. I love them but they are emocore if anything. 90 percent these bands aren't post hardcore. The drummers suck in half these bands that's how you can tell.

31 Dream On, Dreamer

Such an amazing, inspiring bands. I love these guys.

32 Bullet for My Valentine Bullet for My Valentine Bullet for My Valentine are a Welsh metalcore/emo band from Bridgend, formed in 1998. Wow! There a great band. Should be more higher then 31!

33 The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is an American rock band that was formed in Middleburg, Florida, in 2003. The band is best known for their 2006 single "Face Down" from their major-label release Don't You Fake It and has released five studio albums to date.

Sure they had one good album. But it was a really good album and they're one of the only ones here to have a top 40 hit. Possibly the only one at all

Uh this is pop and definitely not post hardcore. Someone put this up as a joke right.

Probably one of the only post hardcore bands on here, you people make me laugh

34 Chiodos

Honestly this lists suck so bad and are completely inaccurate and chiodos should be in the top ten. like, ring ring hello CHIODOS IS 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE WHO LIKES POST HARDCORE!

Best post hardcore band of all time. Just listen to there's no penguins in Alaska and is it a progression if a cannibal uses a fork. Number 1

I can't believe chiodos is not in the top tens... Damn. Craig Owens is amazing and so is the rest of the band.

Better than bmth for sure

I wish they would stick with the same members for good but I love them all the same - JamNamZamHam

They sing better, they're quite similar to Asking Alexandria, but way better!

Horrible not post hardcore

38 La Dispute

This is my favorite band. All their songs are very poetic. It had meaning that many people can relate to. His voice take a while to get used to, but you'll eventually love it.

La Dispute is the only post hardcore band I listen to and they deserve to be in the top 10. Their lyrics are poetic, deep and intelligent. The singer has a raw yet distinctive voice which makes this band so unique. Underrated band, for sure.

Such an amazing band with beautiful music and lyrics! La Dispute is and always will be my favorite band, I bet if half of the people in Michigan knew about this list it would at least be in the top 15

39 A Midsky Surrender

Unknown but amazing all the same. - JamNamZamHam

40 Suicide Silence Suicide Silence Suicide Silence is an American deathcore band from Riverside, California. Formed in 2002, the band has released four full-length studio albums, one EP and eleven music videos.

They metal or death metal. W/e u want to call it. But either is number 1 on this list a big joke this list is. Ad2r is pop and nowhere near hardcore that is what the band thinks they are but its not.

Come on... how is suicide silence not number 1, let alone not even in the top 10, this is unrelated to suicide silence, but how is peirce the veil, sleping with sirens and a day to remember even in the catagory of psot hardcore, I think the twelev yearolds spelt alternative rock wrong...

45 Blessthefall

They're number one of metalcore & post-harcore

So underrated! Check them out.

Insanely awesome band...

I voted Ice Nine Kills before I saw GS was on here great band though

These guys rule if you like Escape The Fate and Black Veil Brides you'lol love these guys 💖

47 Hands Like Houses

59? Really? Has anyone ever listened to them? I haven't found any other band that sounds like them. They truly have a sound of their own and deserve top 10s at least. Ground Dweller is one of my all time favorite albums and Trenton sings so well.

Crown The Empire should be higher on this list... they are incredible.

CTE is at least above blessthefall. Best example of the right amount of screams and clean vocals. Look above who doesn't know them, worth looking up, I promise

Crown The Empire should be in the 20s. There so cool best band in the world. Vote for Crown The Empire!
