Top Ten Post-Hardcore Bands of All Time

These are the best post-hardcore bands out there. If you disagree, you're missing out.

The Top Ten

1 A Day to Remember A Day to Remember (often abbreviated ADTR) is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida, founded in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their unusual amalgamation of metalcore and pop punk. The band currently consists of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist more.

A Day to Remember are a bunch of awesome bunch of normal people and played music an did what they loved. Their music is amazing, the lyrics so powerful, and their videos are so funny!

This is not post hardcore! Where do u people get that idea? The band wants to be but they're guitar is too double harmony metalcore/emocore and lyrics pop and no time changes. Drummer isn't outstanding either. And saddest thing is singer can't sing live without effects vocalizer. This band is the equivalent to my era Blink 182. They are pop punk. Just with a metal element. Most songs are punk though.

Forget best best post hardcore band, this is just one of the best bands ever.

They became my most listened band in my playlist since I discover them.

2 Pierce the Veil Pierce the Veil is an American post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2006, the band was founded by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after the disbandment of the group Before Today, which was formed out of the San Diego punk rock scene.

Best post hardcore band ever! Check out "Bulls in the Bronx" or "King for A Day" for starters

Honestly pierce the veil has saved my life and I'm not joking it kills me to know that music has to save my life not my family or friends. When I'm close to doing it I think I gotta listen to them one more time before I go and so as I let blood drip off my chest and think about going for my wrists I feel like Vic warns me not to do it through his songs and I stop it's almost as if destiny sets the songs to stop me. The bring me into and out of depression and I love it now.

Pierce The Veil are a very underrated band. They deserve to be in the top spot. Each member of the band is EXTREMELY talented, and their music is unique. Their songs have very deep and meaningful lyrics and Vic Fuentes' voice is just... Wow. Words can't explain how amazing his voice is.

Pierce the Veil is my favourite post-hardcore band of all time because, not only are they extremely talented lyrically and musically, but they're just a bunch of awesome guys with big hearts. They've helped me through tough times because their songs express what I have in my head perfectly. I honestly don't know what I would've done without them.

3 Bring Me the Horizon Bring Me the Horizon is a British rock band from Sheffield, Yorkshire. Formed in 2004, the group currently consists of vocalist Oliver Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Matt Nicholls, and keyboardist Jordan Fish. They are signed to RCA Records globally and Columbia Records exclusively more.

Bring Me The Horizon is NOT post-hardcore. They are METAL overall. Yes, the That's The Spirit album is post-hardcore, but if you think they're the best post-hardcore band, OOOH BOY, are you wrong. They are the best METAL band because of "There's A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It" and "Suicide Season" and "Sempiternal" album. Though they are one of my favorite bands, they should not be a top post-hardcore band.

If you listen to their first album don't expect anything like it in their later works. I love this band though. Ollie's lyrics touch home and the songs are tightly written. I guess you could call them post hardcore because of breaks downs and Vox vocals, otherwise they're pretty melodic in their later works, first albums straight metalcore

Forget about the looks! This is about the music! I mean, their lyrics are deep and have a great meaning and the melodies are catchy and strong.

4 Silverstein

The first Post-Hardcore group I ever heard, and I'll never stop being a fan. for 20 years they've been staples of the genre, practically inventing it by fusing goth and emo sounds with experimental post-punk beats and grooves that helped cement the genre in the early 00's before metalcore overtook it and became the stigmatized norm it is now. When talking post-hardcore, we must remember that it has eras of sound that are very unique. from the post-punk originators of Fugazi, to the Post-hardcore sound most of us grew up with like Silverstein and Alexisonfire, to the glitzy pop-inspired sounds of metalcore bands like Escape the Fate and Sleeping with Sirens. When we combine all three into a single genre, its clear what bands stand the test of time and scrutiny.

During I became a metalhead while grew older, Silverstein is the only emo/posthardcore band I still enjoy.

Now this is post-hardcore, this list is ridiculous, the fact that sleeping with sirens is higher than them is beyond me, these guys have been around for almost 20 years now and never released any bad songs or albums

Silverstein is the best post-hardcore band there ever was and will be. All of their albums are solid and you just can't compare them to anyone lol they are on a whole other level than all these other bands.

5 Sleeping with Sirens Sleeping with Sirens is an American rock band from Orlando, Florida currently residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band currently consists of Kellin Quinn, Gabe Barham, Jack Fowler, Nick Martin, and Justin Hills.

They're an amazing band with great lyrics. Kellin's voice is very rare. Their music helps you go through everything. They've changed my life and made me, me. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be the way I am now.

I love Sleeping With Sirens they have a good mix of screaming and singing and I like that

I love every single album, the variety, originality, and Kellin's unique voice. The acoustic versions and heavier songs are equally as good, with brilliant lyricism that sticks in my head all day. Without a doubt my favourite band.

I just can't even describe this, they're so good my words are just discombobulated when I try to describe just how good they are. they are full of meaningful lyrics and in my opinion help me when I'm down. they should be number one!

6 Asking Alexandria Asking Alexandria are an English metalcore band from York, North Yorkshire formed initially in 2008 by lead guitarist Ben Bruce along with former lead singer Danny Worsnop, bassist Joe Lancaster, keyboardist and synth player Ryan Binns, and current members drummer James Cassells and rhythm guitarist more.

Best band EVER Danny worsnop ( vocalist ).
Can do it all sing he can do mid range screams
High, low deathcore screams.

This band became famous because bands like them are RARE because danny has a pure an clear singing voice and low screams

I love asking alexandria even ma girlfriend

Out of the 10 in this list they are the best.

7 Of Mice & Men Of Mice & Men is an American metalcore band from Orange County, California. The band's lineup currently consists of lead vocalist and bassist Aaron Pauley, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, and drummer Valentino Arteaga.

The soul and metaphor poured into everything written by the band is so extraordinary I don't think any band has saved lives the way Of Mice And Men has. What Austin Carlile has been through and the strong unchanging outlook on life he has just puts such a firm grounding on the band. This band has given me personally such a firm structure on how to live life I don't think anyone could impact me the way this band has.

Austin Charlie is an amazing singer! His vocals are just great! At first I didn't like their stuff but after listening to O.G. loko, I immediately fell in love with the catchi-ness of the "Meet my Dedication, Inspiration" part. Even the band members are great people!

Wow why is of mice and men so low that's my favorite band ever

Of mice and men have amazing vocals and great screams with amazing breakdowns.

8 Ice Nine Kills

What the hell? Ice nine kills are amazing they should be in the top 5! I'm telling you TOP 5! They are an amazing band with amazing choruses and lyrics. Listen to what I never learned in study hall or jonathan. Both are great and I'd slap you if you think they're bad

These guys aren't that bad, but I don't like them as much as most of the others on this list. One of their songs that I've heard is good.

They should be number two

Why isn't this band in top 5?

9 Alexisonfire Alexisonfire is a five-piece Canadian post-hardcore band that formed in St. Catharines, Ontario in 2001. The band consists of George Pettit, Dallas Green, Wade MacNeil, Chris Steele, and Jordan Hastings.

I'm shocked that AOF aren't in the top 3 of this list! Especially since that they're back together again! All of the other bands that are above have no clue what GOOD music is!

This is one of the best post hardcore bands to have existed. They are the reason these crap bands on top the list exist. They fused old post harcore and the new sound together to pave way for the horrible crap that is made today. There music was so powerful its sad they only played a handful of sold out shows before they broke up. And back together for the summer of 2015 tour they are only playing a handful again but hopefully to test the waters. We may have a true post hardcore band writing music again.

On of the few good Post Hardcore bands on the list. Also half of these bands are Metalcore

Woah, somethings wrong if these guys aren't in the top 10! Its a shame to see some of the bands ahead of AOF on this list. RIP!

10 Falling In Reverse Falling in Reverse is an American post hardcore band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2008, signed to Epitaph Records.

God, Radke sucks. I can't listen to his voice for 5 seconds without wanting to shoot myself. Sad part is, he gets all of the attention and overshadows the rest of the actually talented band. Same for most bands like this one.

Ronnie Radke used to be singer for Escape The Fate but when he got kicked out it he made Falling In Reverse. FIR has catchy songs, awesome beats, beautiful melodies.

This band deserves a spot in the top 5. Theve over came the bs and got the job done. And I've seen them live and I must say Ronnie Radke has the best live performance in the music scene.

They deserve to be farther up. FIR is one of the best

The Contenders

11 Escape the Fate Escape the Fate is an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2005 and originally from Pahrump, Nevada. They are signed to Eleven Seven Music.

Awesome band. Just listen to The Guillotine.

Escape the fate has done an amazing job of creating a beautiful album... 4 times! They are so underrated and they deserve to be bigger that falling in reverse... no offense ronnie

Escape the fate is absolutely amazing. Enough said.

This band has best music and history so far...

12 Underoath Underoath is an American rock band from Tampa, Florida. Founded by Dallas Taylor and Luke Morton on November 30, 1997, in Ocala, Florida; subsequently its additional members were from Tampa.

Underoath was one of my first hardcore bands and will forever be one of my favorites, the reason why they should be first is because of their raw emotion and beautiful rhythms and melodies. They were was before their time and had one of the most talented drummers I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. By the way why isn't Dance Gavin Dance on this list?

Should be number one, they were ahead of their time. Without Underoath we wouldn't be able to enjoy most of the bands we listen to now. They stayed true to their real hardcore roots while they were breaking down boundaries too step by step! Still, they were never really considered as a "sell out" band

Without this inspirational band I bet half these bands on this list wouldn't be here today. Underoath has made some of the the best Post-hardcore/Metalcore songs to date. They never sold out, they just kept getting heavier and heavier throughout their amazing career.

These guys deserve to be number one simply because they have been around the longest, without them who would've inspired other bands on this list and may I remind everyone how amazing there fourth album they're only chasing safety is

13 Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows

OK so I get the low ranking cause they only made one album but I mean come on it was good.

Yup.. the only album that they made was incredible.. probably the best album I heard in 2011

14 Enter Shikari

Sorry you're not a winner the best post hardcore song

Technically Electro Post-harcore but post harcore all the same. This band has been using electro and post harcore in their music since they started back in 2006. They are so popular overseas in Europe that they sold out tours for past 2 albums. They express political messages like most p-hdcore bands do and not about emo heartbreak. True post hardcore bands songs are usually so different its hard to classify into one genre, they also use time changes, sing/scream, experiment with ambient/techno/ or effects pedal sounds, and have amazing drummers that do off beats majority of the time. This band does all of that. The only band doing something truly out of the box before anyone else was.

15 Glassjaw Glassjaw is an American post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York. The band is fronted by vocalist Daryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck.

Glassjaw is the Godfather of Post-Hardcore. Just like a previous comment mentioned, no one else on this list would even be relevant if it weren't for the foundation this band laid out before the genre even started to blow up at the turn of the century

All these new fake post hardcore bands have nothing on bands like glassjaw. A true post hardcore band has ambient sounds, a great drummer that does off beats, experiments with sound, time changes, and meaningful lyrics not just about heartbreak. That's what glassjaw encompasses to this day. Glad they are back together.

None of those bands in the top 10 would be relevant without Glassjaw and At The Drive In. Tainting the Post-Hardcore legacy Glassjaw and At The Drive In created in the early 00's by not trying to be different to anyone else. Content with being generic

Amazing band that helped build the genre. I can't even believe they're not in the top 10. Daryl's clean and unclean vocals help create this genre.

16 We Came As Romans We Came as Romans (abbreviated as WCAR) is an American metalcore band from Troy, Michigan, formed in 2005. The band has gone through one name change and multiple lineup changes, and signed to Albany, New York label Equal Vision Records in 2009. We Came as Romans is managed by Outerloop Management and more.

Definitely deserve to be higher on this list

WCAR is the best band. They should so be higher is the list.

WCAR are excellent. I saw them at Rockville and they were spot on.

17 Woe, Is Me

Ever since Tyler Carter left, they'll be different. But Hance Alligood is by far better and will make a great replacement.

18 Black Veil Brides Black Veil Brides is an American rock band currently consisting of Andy Biersack (vocals), Jinxx (guitar), Jake Pitts (guitar), Christian Coma (drums) and Ashley Purdy (bass), that formed in 2006 in Ohio. more.

Black veil brides are not post hardcore they are hair metal

One of my favorite bands!

Are you serious 34 have y'all heard andy's voice and scream and the guitar solos and the meaningful lyrics?

19 Memphis May Fire

Matty Mullins sounds awesome no matter what! One of my favorite bands.

Matty mullins is great overall

20 Dance Gavin Dance

Dance Gavin Dance is easily the best post-hardcore band on this list. All of the vocalists (particularly Tilian) are incredible. Will Swan is amazing. All of their songs are catchy and so intricate I don't understand how you people can think My Chemical Romance is better.

Should be Number 1

So much catchy, it's like find order in chaos.

Great, all of the emos invaded this list and put asking alexandria and My Chemical Romance so high up. this band deserves more credit

21 My Chemical Romance My Chemical Romance was an American rock band from Jersey City, New Jersey, active from 2001 to 2013. For much of their career, the band consisted of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, bassist Mikey Way, and drummer Bob Bryar.

They deserve to be way higher! This band is the most amazing band on the planet. They have saved thousands of lives including my own. The lyrics to their songs are very sinister yet meaningful. They have such a good sound to them and an amazing vibe.

I hate their fanbase, but this band rocks! They were theatrical, incredibly talented, and just amazing. They will always be in my top 10 for sure.

They're not always post hardcore but when they are, they're pretty awesome at it..
My Chemical Romance is one of my favourite bands I think they deserve to be on here at least somewhere

This band definitely deserves to be in the Top 10. They are an awesome mix of post hardcore, emo, and pop punk. Definitely deserve to be in the Top 10

22 Our Last Night

Real Post-Hardcore band.
Lots of bands on the list are mostly Metalcore but not really Post Hardcore

One of the best post hardcore bands I've listened to plus they do some of the best covers I've ever heard

A truly amazing band!

23 Fugazi Fugazi is an American punk rock band that formed in Washington, D.C. in 1987. The band consists of guitarists and vocalists Ian MacKaye and Guy Picciotto, bassist Joe Lally and drummer Brendan Canty.

Fugazi essentially made post-hardcore a genre. The fact that they are this low on the list shows me that there is a significant rift between the original post-hardcore, and what is big right now. It is essentially like there are two or three different genres with the same name.

The only post-hardcore band that matters

Wow, people here have no idea of what post-hardcore is.

Post hardcore fans, please, vote this band to be number one.

24 Dillinger Escape Plan The Dillinger Escape Plan was an American metalcore band formed in Morris Plains, New Jersey, in 1997.

Dillinger Escape Plan is one of the first post hardcore bands and easily the standard of what the genre sound encompasses. Time changes, ambient sounds, and powerful lyrics sung/screamed by a talented singer. These bands have the best drummers in the scene. I first heard them when Mike Patton was the singer in 2000 at a show where he finished by taking a dump on the pa speaker. Needless to say I can see why they replaced him pretty soon after with the similarly looking new singer who is good if not better in my opinion but a lot like the old better.

Uhh not exactly phc? they're metalcore for the most part, but I can't think of a time when they were anything like post hardcore

25 A Skylit Drive

How are they not in the top 20? They deserve at LEAST that if not higher. Wires and the Concept of Breathing is one of my favorite albums of all time, and All It Takes For Your Dreams to Come True was the song that first got me into heavy music.

If I could kill for one voice, it'd be for the singer of this band. His voice is beautiful. And the screams are just amazing.

Amazing mix of powerful (yet beautiful) vocals, Brian Whiite and the drummer's deep growls put together so pefectly... Nothing can beat it.

Eek bingit :D love it
