Top 10 Best Post-Hardcore Bands of All Time

These are the best post-hardcore bands out there. If you disagree, you're missing out.
The Top Ten
1 A Day to Remember A Day to Remember (often abbreviated ADTR) is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida, founded in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their unusual amalgamation of metalcore and pop punk. The band currently consists of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist... read more

A Day to Remember are a bunch of awesome bunch of normal people and played music an did what they loved. Their music is amazing, the lyrics so powerful, and their videos are so funny!

So you are telling me, ADTR is number 1 is post-hardcore but they are not even in the top ten in metalcore on this site? well, technically metalcore is a subgenre of post-hardcore so any subgenre of post-hardcore can be on this list, but they did many things for metalcore, so they should be number 1 in metalcore too if they are number 1 in post-hardcore too

2 Pierce the Veil Pierce the Veil is an American post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. Formed in 2006, the band was founded by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after the disbandment of the group Before Today, which was formed out of the San Diego punk rock scene.

Pierce the Veil is my favourite post-hardcore band of all time because, not only are they extremely talented lyrically and musically, but they're just a bunch of awesome guys with big hearts. They've helped me through tough times because their songs express what I have in my head perfectly. I honestly don't know what I would've done without them.

Pierce the veil is probably the best hardcore band I know of. I mean, their lyrics are decipherable (the screaming parts) and their songs are oh so very catchy. I would definitely recommend for anyone to listen to them, even if you're not a giant hardcore fan, they have some pretty good stuff. Collide with the sky is definitely my favourite album with their best song (in my opinion) "Kings for a day"
(Oh... And not to forget that Vic Fuentes is really cute, so... BONUS! )

3 Silverstein Silverstein (/ˈsɪl.vər.stiːn/) is a Canadian rock band from Burlington, Ontario, formed in 2000. Their band name is a reference to the famous children's author Shel Silverstein, whom the band had admired and whose work they had read as children. They have released a total of 11 studio albums, seven... read more

Could never really get into other post hardcore bands. Sleeping with sirens? No thanks. Bmth, ptv. I don't know just didn't suit my tastes. It all felt too.. scene. I don't know. Silverstein is cool. Their music makes sense to me and I'm no longer into post hardcore or emo music, but Silverstein is still good. They've stood the test of time and I can put discovering the waterfront on and sing along to every word like I'm in middle school still. Adtr and old escape the fate too, but only certain songs. A lot of the screaming is over the top in my opinion, and/or the singing is too whiny. Silverstein is the right combination of all the things. Love these guys.

4 Sleeping with Sirens Sleeping with Sirens is an American rock band from Orlando, Florida currently residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The band currently consists of Kellin Quinn, Gabe Barham, Jack Fowler, Nick Martin, and Justin Hills.

Sleeping With Sirens, with Falling In Reverse, Escape The Fate and Pierce The Veil are THE post-hardcore bands, for me. So it's pretty hard to choose, but I will have to go with SWS, their music just has some weird energy in it that makes it a bit better then the other. Probably it's Kellin's voice... And Jack's guitar.
by the way. I love BMTH and Asking Alexandria, but I don't consider them post-hardcore, although they sound a bit like that.

Kellin Quinn's voice is something that not a lot of artists have. His range is very big and his talent is amazing. That being said the rest of the band is awesome as well even though they're not as praised as Kellin. Even though their misic may be post hardcore and some people may find that their sound is brutal, their songs always have good messages

5 Asking Alexandria Asking Alexandria are an English metalcore band from York, North Yorkshire formed initially in 2008 by lead guitarist Ben Bruce along with former lead singer Danny Worsnop, bassist Joe Lancaster, keyboardist and synth player Ryan Binns, and current members drummer James Cassells and rhythm guitarist... read more

Best band EVER Danny worsnop ( vocalist ).
Can do it all sing he can do mid range screams
High, low deathcore screams.

Out of the 10 in this list they are the best.

No need to explain. AA is the best with danny worsnop.definitely
This band makes me get to this kind of music.

6 Of Mice & Men Of Mice & Men is an American metalcore band from Orange County, California. The band's lineup currently consists of lead vocalist and bassist Aaron Pauley, guitarists Phil Manansala and Alan Ashby, and drummer Valentino Arteaga.

The soul and metaphor poured into everything written by the band is so extraordinary I don't think any band has saved lives the way Of Mice And Men has. What Austin Carlile has been through and the strong unchanging outlook on life he has just puts such a firm grounding on the band. This band has given me personally such a firm structure on how to live life I don't think anyone could impact me the way this band has.

Austin Charlie is an amazing singer! His vocals are just great! At first I didn't like their stuff but after listening to O.G. loko, I immediately fell in love with the catchi-ness of the "Meet my Dedication, Inspiration" part. Even the band members are great people!

7 Ice Nine Kills

What the hell? Ice nine kills are amazing they should be in the top 5! I'm telling you TOP 5! They are an amazing band with amazing choruses and lyrics. Listen to what I never learned in study hall or jonathan. Both are great and I'd slap you if you think they're bad

These guys aren't that bad, but I don't like them as much as most of the others on this list. One of their songs that I've heard is good.

They may be newer but they're crushing it harder than I've ever seen a band do it. 10/10 is an understatement.

8 Alexisonfire Alexisonfire is a five-piece Canadian post-hardcore band that formed in St. Catharines, Ontario in 2001. The band consists of George Pettit, Dallas Green, Wade MacNeil, Chris Steele, and Jordan Hastings.

This is one of the best post hardcore bands to have existed. They are the reason these crap bands on top the list exist. They fused old post harcore and the new sound together to pave way for the horrible crap that is made today. There music was so powerful its sad they only played a handful of sold out shows before they broke up. And back together for the summer of 2015 tour they are only playing a handful again but hopefully to test the waters. We may have a true post hardcore band writing music again.

9 Falling In Reverse Falling in Reverse is an American post hardcore band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2008, signed to Epitaph Records.

The current members include the former Escape The Fate singer Ronnie Radke, Max Georgiev, Christian Thompson and bassist Wes Horton III. Former members of the band include Derek... read more

God, Radke sucks. I can't listen to his voice for 5 seconds without wanting to shoot myself. Sad part is, he gets all of the attention and overshadows the rest of the actually talented band. Same for most bands like this one.

Ronnie Radke used to be singer for Escape The Fate but when he got kicked out it he made Falling In Reverse. FIR has catchy songs, awesome beats, beautiful melodies.

This band deserves a spot in the top 5. Theve over came the bs and got the job done. And I've seen them live and I must say Ronnie Radke has the best live performance in the music scene.

10 Escape the Fate Escape the Fate is an American rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2005 and originally from Pahrump, Nevada. They are signed to Eleven Seven Music.

They don't just make a few good songs. All of their albums are enjoyable. This doesn't mean they have real nice songs. Picture Perfect, Ungrateful, The Aftermath (G3) are my favorites.

Escape the fate has done an amazing job of creating a beautiful album... 4 times! They are so underrated and they deserve to be bigger that falling in reverse... no offense ronnie

ETF is definitely better that sleeping with sirens. Craig mabbitt is so good at vocals ronnie was great too. ETF is innovative at every music it creates. Deserves to be in top 3 at least.

The Contenders
11 Underoath Underoath is an American rock band from Tampa, Florida. Founded by Dallas Taylor and Luke Morton on November 30, 1997, in Ocala, Florida; subsequently its additional members were from Tampa.

They were responsible for my transition into harder music. I don't like what they have become over the past 12 years but they are here on this list for the select albums we all know were the best. Spencer kept trying too hard to re-define the band's identity in my opinion. And he was successful to my disappointment.

Underoath was one of my first hardcore bands and will forever be one of my favorites, the reason why they should be first is because of their raw emotion and beautiful rhythms and melodies. They were was before their time and had one of the most talented drummers I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. By the way why isn't Dance Gavin Dance on this list?

12 Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows

Debut album is one of the best Post-Hardcore albums of all time and their second album is great as well!

OK so I get the low ranking cause they only made one album but I mean come on it was good.

Yup.. the only album that they made was incredible.. probably the best album I heard in 2011

13 Enter Shikari

Technically Electro Post-harcore but post harcore all the same. This band has been using electro and post harcore in their music since they started back in 2006. They are so popular overseas in Europe that they sold out tours for past 2 albums. They express political messages like most p-hdcore bands do and not about emo heartbreak. True post hardcore bands songs are usually so different its hard to classify into one genre, they also use time changes, sing/scream, experiment with ambient/techno/ or effects pedal sounds, and have amazing drummers that do off beats majority of the time. This band does all of that. The only band doing something truly out of the box before anyone else was.

14 Glassjaw Glassjaw is an American post-hardcore band from Long Island, New York. The band is fronted by vocalist Daryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck.

All these new fake post hardcore bands have nothing on bands like glassjaw. A true post hardcore band has ambient sounds, a great drummer that does off beats, experiments with sound, time changes, and meaningful lyrics not just about heartbreak. That's what glassjaw encompasses to this day. Glad they are back together.

Glassjaw is the Godfather of Post-Hardcore. Just like a previous comment mentioned, no one else on this list would even be relevant if it weren't for the foundation this band laid out before the genre even started to blow up at the turn of the century

15 We Came as Romans We Came as Romans (abbreviated as WCAR) is an American metalcore band from Troy, Michigan, formed in 2005. The band has gone through one name change and multiple lineup changes, and signed to Albany, New York label Equal Vision Records in 2009. We Came as Romans is managed by Outerloop Management and... read more
16 Dance Gavin Dance

Dance Gavin Dance is easily the best post-hardcore band on this list. All of the vocalists (particularly Tilian) are incredible. Will Swan is amazing. All of their songs are catchy and so intricate I don't understand how you people can think My Chemical Romance is better.

Just fell in love with the old and new. Wasn't impressed at all when I first heard them years ago.

So much catchy, it's like find order in chaos.

17 Fugazi Fugazi is an American post-hardcore band that formed in Washington, D.C. in 1987. The band consists of guitarists and vocalists Ian MacKaye and Guy Picciotto, bassist Joe Lally and drummer Brendan Canty.

Fugazi essentially made post-hardcore a genre. The fact that they are this low on the list shows me that there is a significant rift between the original post-hardcore, and what is big right now. It is essentially like there are two or three different genres with the same name.

Absurd they're this low. All of their albums are good (not a single bad release), they're very diverse and invented the genre. Undisputed #1.

I personally don't understand why the top ten looks like that. Fugazi, Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbreaker, Jawbox, Rites Of Spring, Glassjaw and Thrice deserve to be up there!

18 Memphis May Fire Memphis May Fire is an American metalcore band formed in Denton, Texas and currently signed to Rise Records.

Matty Mullins sounds awesome no matter what! One of my favorite bands.

19 My Chemical Romance My Chemical Romance is an American rock band from Jersey City, New Jersey, active from 2001 to 2013, and again from 2019 to present day. For much of their career, the band consisted of lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero, bassist Mikey Way, and drummer Bob Bryar.

They deserve to be way higher! This band is the most amazing band on the planet. They have saved thousands of lives including my own. The lyrics to their songs are very sinister yet meaningful. They have such a good sound to them and an amazing vibe.

They aren't post hardcore. They're drummer doesn't do any time changes or any off beat drum skills just basic stuff I can play after only playing 5 times. And lyrics are all emo pop. I liked 1st album which was the epitome of emo, "vampires, honey" but after that it went straight pop emo with songs like imnotokay.
Someone told me the band was a bunch of rich snobs back in high school at least compared to those that went to that school in nj.

20 Our Last Night

Real Post-Hardcore band.
Lots of bands on the list are mostly Metalcore but not really Post Hardcore

21 A Skylit Drive

How are they not in the top 20? They deserve at LEAST that if not higher. Wires and the Concept of Breathing is one of my favorite albums of all time, and All It Takes For Your Dreams to Come True was the song that first got me into heavy music.

If I could kill for one voice, it'd be for the singer of this band. His voice is beautiful. And the screams are just amazing.

Amazing mix of powerful (yet beautiful) vocals, Brian Whiite and the drummer's deep growls put together so pefectly... Nothing can beat it.

22 At the Drive-In

People claiming that any of the top ten bands are post-hardcore should die. My Chemical Romance saved your life? Please. They didn't. If 'Na Na Na' seriously stopped you from committing suicide you should go see a psychiatrist.

23 In Fear and Faith

A hard decision it was, between IFAF and We Came As Romans, but I for the moment, these are the best.

24 Alesana

Alesana should seriously be no. 1! They are the reason I love post-hardcore. They can put heavy and ballad in one song.. And they are kickass live..

Great band! One of my favourites and definitely my favourite post hardcore one.

25 Bullet for My Valentine Bullet for My Valentine are a Welsh metalcore band from Bridgend, formed in 1998. The band is composed of Matthew Tuck (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Michael Paget (lead guitar, backing vocals), Michael Thomas (drums) and Jamie Mathias (bass guitar). Former members include Nick Crandle and Jason James;... read more

This band is so underrated, should be higher, definitely...

Wow! There a great band. Should be more higher then 31!
