Hermione Granger was as stated 'One of the most powerful witches of her age'. Also she knew much more spells than anyone else in her year and she was an immense part of Voldermorts downfall.
She was a master at charms and spell that took no meaning/feelings. But with spells that took more than flick and swish, like a patronus or the killing curse Ginny is better at.
She is clever, yes. But powerful, no. Hermione+Ginny+Luna all together could do nothing against one Bellatrix in a duel.

But you can see, as a mother, she cared for Harry because in her eyes he was a child, who, like her son, was forced to grow up too fast. She defied the most ruthless, most evil wizard who would kill without a second thought because of her mother's love.
