Top Ten Problems with Social Media During the COVID-19 Outbreak

Oh no oh no oh no, another COVID-19 list, crap. BUT we are taking notice of what social media brings us as well as what people say on it! Let's see what has been said that is terrible.

The Top Ten

1 People blame Trump for the virus

This is just dumb and idiotic. The virus ORIGINATED IN CHINA, but people blame Trump for it. Now I know someone is gonna say they are going to blame Trump for his inconsiderate response to combating the virus, and I say this. He's not the only one in the US being inconsiderate about it. - NuMetalManiak

I was actually the first person on TheTopTens to make a Coronavirus related list, and it was actually about why the New York Times Calling the Coronavirus the "Trumpvirus" is Stupid. Figures. - EvanTheNerd

2 People are getting suspended on Twitter over political opinions about the virus

Not to be unexpected, but one of the biggest issues is how left-leaning Twitter has been. They somehow DON'T REMOVE TWEETS THAT THREATEN THE PRESIDENT, but any tweet that talked about the benefits of hydroxychloroquine, a drug that has somehow proven effective in treating Covid-19 patients, had to be removed for "promoting suicide". What and why? - NuMetalManiak

3 The general selfishness of many accounts
4 People yelling about other media outlets to stop covering Trump, yet they continue to talk about him

It's quite hypocritical how much people pay attention to this guy. And I say this since they beg for the media to stop talking about him, yet they themselves talk about him much more. - NuMetalManiak

5 Too much fear-mongering

6 People are justifying panic buying

There was a time that #panicbuying was trending, and while most opinions of this were highly negative, some were offering ADVICE about panic buying. Thank god this trend was over quickly even if the stores aren't as stocked as they were before. - NuMetalManiak

7 The dumb things that Trump says during speeches end up trending just to make him look bad
8 The social media trends barely talk about problems in other nations

They do at times, especially if they have hit national news, but a lot of the focus is on the US more often than not. Just because we have the largest number of cases doesn't mean that others are suffering too. - NuMetalManiak

9 Too much overall negativity
10 People reposting fake news stories

The Contenders

11 Racism against China

They keep calling it "Chinese Virus" which is why racists are blaming on China. No need to do that, no sir. - TechnicallyIDoComics

12 People saying how long it is going to last
13 Racism against Asian-Americans
