Top 10 Best Psychological Manga

Consists of mostly reality mangas which really makes the best of it

The Top Ten Best Psychological Manga

1 Liar Game

Absolutely the best! best! best!... This manga promise you to be entertain and I love the message they want to portray in this manga. Totally one of the most underrated manga, it didn't even got an anime. I'm happy this website Liar Game ranks number 1 at least some intellextual people understand its value : )

As a fan of psychological genre, Liar game is the absolute best of them all (though the only flaw is its ending). Following by One outs and Death note.

Liar game is the best psychological manga I've ever read so far. Anyone would likely love this manga.

It's awesome but sad that it's completed. It was so interesting unlike other manga with like some chapters that are boring.

2 Death Note Death Note is a Japanese television drama series based on the manga series of the same name by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The show is centered around Light Yagami - a promising highschooler and aspiring detective with a strong sense of "justice".

Death Note is perfect from the start till the end. The twists and turns will keep you wanting for more and all the main characters will leave you baffled and in wonder. But the best part is how the author subtly brings out the theme of evil and good throughout the entire series - What may be evil to ones eye, may be good to the other and vice versa. This one is definitely for the ones who like books that will keep you guessing and leave you breathless in the end.

DEATH NOTE is a MASTERPIECE! Every single second that you read it incites your mind to think like they would making you think more about your own position in the world and making you understand where human corruption comes from.

This is perfection in its finest. The suspense is absolutely real and the strategic thinking of the characters keeps you guessing about what will happen next. For the thinkers.

Amazing! I wasn't a huge fan of the ending though...

3 Tokyo Ghoul Tokyo Ghoul is a Japanese dark fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Sui Ishida. It was serialized in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump between September 2011 and September 2014, and it has been collected in fourteen tankĊbon volumes as of August 2014.

Just finished reading the first book, already it's tied at number one with Sailor Moon.

One of the aspects of Tokyo Ghoul that I absolutely love is how Kanekis personality changes constantly though out the series and the way that it is depicted it amazing as well. Even so Tokyo Ghoul has many other amazing characters and we get to understand them and their motives even if they are just side characters.

Agreed! This manga is one of the best that I've ever read. The author is a genius and he knows what to do. Every characters are fleshed out, and I was able to connect with them. Re does not disappoint either.

No other manga out there that is even remotely similar to this. Tokyo ghoul is in its own league. The scenes are totally real and you directly feel the characters' emotions. Beautiful.

4 One Outs

I didn't read this at first because I thought it's a sport genre but I was so wrong big time. This work is one of the absolute best of the psychological genre along with liar game.

Tokuchi is a master manipulator and an exceptional reader of human behaviour and minds. How he takes these traits and creates an unbeatable strategist are worth the watch! Brilliant -9.5/10 (Those who understand baseball/sports), 8.5-9/10 (for people not into sports)

TRUE THIS! I love one outs!

Love this as much as I love liar game.

5 Usogui

Usogui doesn't have a strong start, but it's one of the very few manga that manages to be extremely entertaining even after 40 volumes. This manga is currently ranked 3rd but I believe it should deserve better. The lack of recognition of this manga is painful to watch.

The best, the way he exploit lies and how he is so sure about his gamble makes Madarame Baku in my opinion the smartest person in the psychological universe

Glad to see quite possibly the most underrated manga #3 on this list. Madarame Baku is the ultimate genius.

6 Oyasumi Punpun

Really an unconventional manga. I related so much to the character that I started questioning my identity. This manga makes you think about the world, and how living with depression is hell itself.

This manga helped me get through so many tough situations in my life. It made me see everything from a different perspective and helped me understand the human mind further more. It's definitely a perfect read.

This was one of the first psychological mangas I ever read and it like changed me as a person. It still gives me chills thinking about it. You discover a new perception of the world and it makes you understand and appreciate everything a little more and it plants your feet on the ground by filling you up with all these different emotions idek but it's the most beautiful manga I've ever read and I think everyone should put some time aside to read it thoroughly.

It was like I was seeing through the eyes of a depressed person. It made me question every single thing that I do. The protagonist is such the average person and yet all of that happens to him. And it's not all about him. This manga shows the perspectives of all the characters and you learn how they effect him and the other way around. My opinion is to read lighter psychological manga's first because this will be way to much for someone that is happy and satisfied with their life. I really question if people that had depression before will like this manga. Maybe because they can relate to it, but they probably might become depressed again. I wish there were more reviews on this manga cause I am still not sure what the different forms of his head meant. If anyone can explain that to me please do! Anyways it's a roller coaster for sure it has 141 chapters and it will tear your heart, mind and soul out :D

7 Monster

Monster is a beautiful manga whose every page kept me hooked. The characters and plot are so wonderfully done. It's miles better than Death Note!

Wow, I don't even know how to describe it. It was done so masterfully, as someone who has read and enjoyed both Death Note and Monster, I can say that this far surpasses Death Note, they are not even close to being in the same league.

There are so many climaxes in the manga which misleads you to thinking its going to end, but it just gets started. One of the best I've read.

Monster is the absolute best of them all. I mean, come on, Light Yagami doesn't eve compare to Johan Liebert

8 Detective Conan

Not much read on this one, but for me this will change your pace in your psychological interest, it doesn't reveal that much and the cases are not that complicated

Even though, Detective Conan is more suited to detective genre than a psychological, The Black Organization plot is must-read one to all the psychological fans.

Can't say this is psychological genre. A mere detective story with some romantic comedy for me.

Best manga I ever read

9 Berserk

Best is the best manga ever.

10 Mirai Nikki

Mirai Nikki at first was pretty much like a cliche manga where you could pretty much predict Yuno Gasai defeating otter diary owners for Yukkiteru Amano. But the more I read it the more surprises and thrills it gave, I love how thrilling it is and how it kept me hyped up wondering who would be God.

This was awesome. The plot was well done and the plot twist, oh my god. This is honestly my favourite manga of all time.

If your a girl you might not like it... BUT GUYS WILL! Very interesting, introduces crazy wifu-status girl... Whose really, really nuts. Read for the death

And more importantly the plot... Both story plot and the non type story plot

Mirai Nikki is so good Yuno is the best character (i prefer her to the main character)

The Contenders

11 Gamble Fish

This is just some of hardcore gamblers out there and he will do anything to win, good read 8/10

Totally forget the story after finish it for a while. It doesn't leave much impression.

12 Doubt

This one, is the one that makes you almost disappointed in the end, its not that its bad but the way curves in the end is not just as pleasing as other

Ending was weird but I liked it!

13 Kurosagi

I really, really, love this manga, I wanna buy it personally. But they didn't have volume one anymore as this manga is an old manga. Sometime I'm confused with politics this and that but as you understand it, you'll get hooked for sure -w-

This is just some swindler on your service, got swindled? Call on this guy. Kurosagi is when you read it you feel a lottle "justice" on every read because the frauds there are the same on real life

14 Tokyo Ghoul :re
15 Gantz

-sci fi
-blood gore
-serious like no jokes! I've read it two times there is no funny scene!

16 Boku Dake ga Inai Machi

I love this manga. I highly recommend this series for those who like mystery and some thriller. A guy who has some kind of magic powers that will change the course of the future of others around him and himself.

The artwork might not be that good and it gradually loses the thrills. But the first half is truly unforgettable.

17 K

K as in Project K?

Though I'm not a fan of supernatural/psychological this one has a great plot and action packed too you should read this one and it's just not Naruto that determination surpress all thing action

18 Elfen Lied

In my opinion it is one of the best psychological manga I have ever read and the anime is good too

19 Imawa No Kuni No Alice

Very smartly written and original. The characters were very interesting and the plot was thrilling. I loved the set ups for the games. It really shows the different variations of human nature in a survival game.

It's the best psychological manga in my opinion. The setting of the survival games in this manga is really interesting. I've read this manga three times already.

As a psychology student, I recommend this one

It's got everything that a shounen /seinen manga these days hope for: A powerful mc (in his own way), thrill of plot, no nakama power to help all problems (in the start of the series, all of his friends are...), and still got moral value inside inspite of that.
Its full of trick, the quests are sometimes drawn in a way that make the reader want to guess the outcome. The later ending are a bit monotonous, but overall still a very good read.

20 Bastard

Amazing, I couldn't stop reading. The artwork was especially well done!

I just recently started to read it but it's so damn good, like I can't stop reading it! I totally love it!

Honestly this one grabbed my from the get go and now I can't wait to find out what is next

I was sceptical at first but found it very engaging

21 Death Parade Death Parade is a 2015 Japanese anime television series created, written, and directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa and produced by Madhouse.

One of the best. Sincerely, if you are looking for a good psychological anime, I highly recommend this. Highly. Also Higurashi no Naku Koro absolute favorite manga and the anime is great, considering length of the arcs and not being able to fit all of the details into the anime. But the prize are the visual novels. Umineko tak

Shiki, full The anime is amazing as well, with a majorly kick a $$ theme song by Buck-Tick.

It's yaoi, but Sakura Gari is amazing. Psychological? Oh hell yeah. You may need brain bleach and psychological /emotional counseling after, but's good. A personal favorite.

Umineko no Naku Koro Ni is Dante meets Agatha Christie...oh hell...just read everything from Ryukishi 07.

Yeah, it's good, but this is a manga list and isn't this an anime?

One of the best psychological anime I've ever watched

I feel like it is super underrated.

22 Kaiji

Ranking kaiji at 22nd makes me doubt this list...
My top recommendations are
Liars game, death note, kaiji, one outs

Well, the art sucks ass and the plot is expectable, but still a good read for starters

The plot is genius, and the art is amazing and unik

Wow... the art sucks... I can't think... ARAA and the plot?.. sorry but... ARRAAARARARARAR! RFSUSAFGADU

23 xxxHolic
24 Aku no Hana

If you want a great read then go ahead. This honestly started off really slow for me but it began picking up and getting me into the dark threads of the circle. Highly recommended

Really good one. About stupid things people should do to change them selves, and grow up into something new.

Aku no Hana is one of Oshimi Shuzo most populair manga. It also has an anime that follows the manga very well. So if you want to watch the anime and then read the manga then by all means do so. This manga is about a boy that is being blackmailed by the rebel in school to do very disturbing things. by the way the protaginist is nothing like the mainstream ones, so not strong minded or striving for anything in life and especially not a role model however the female characters in Oshimi Shuzo's work all have a dominant and powerful vibe to them. Anyways... The manga revolves around the breaking of principles and norms and everything that makes you "who you are". I put bunny ear because society builds who you are. The anime's animation is like no other and the setting of it represents the way society boxes us in. The questionable atmosphere is accompanied by very creepy music. In the end all I can say is its defiantly an anime to watch. At first you will be like " The hell am I ...more

25 Btooom!

Was interesting, I recommend this to anyone who is also a fan of Battle Royal

This anime is disgusting and SAO is better than this.

The manga is amazing. The author exceptionally portraits what people are capable of when pushed into a corner. The manga is gory and dark, with the perfect amount of hope. You will be swept off your feet.9/10

26 Goth
27 Psyren

good manga

28 Alice in Borderland

Great survival manga a the challenges are a lot like the ones in "liar games" not the best but definitely top 20. 7/10

It's one of the best survival game mangas.

There are 4 kinds of survival games in Borderlands. Out of all the kinds, the psychological games are the most feared and diffucult ones.

ps lol sorry for the caps did it realise till too late

29 Eden: It's an Endless World

Dystopian. Similarity to George Orwell's fiction.

30 Tomodaichi Game

Great plot twist

31 Sundome
32 Real Account

Gosh dang this is a good one

I am very recommend it if you like psychological death manga~

33 Goodnight Punpun

Goodnight punpun and oyasumi punoun are the same manga. but anyway, very great manga, makes you think.

34 Ajin: Demi-Human

Amazing manga and anime. The best anime I've ever seen. The main character is super cool, bad and clever. I am in love with him! And the manga is even better!

This bad boy is extremely underrated in my opinion. The manga focuses on a battle between humans and an immortal species called the Ajins. Battlefield: Bad Company-styled actions combined with high level, realistic tactical maneuvers and politics, makes you crave for more. There are a lot of scenes when the Ajins used unthinkable tactics with their immortality to achieve maximum effect in a battle. Highly recommended.

35 Parasyte -the maxim- The anime was simulcast by Crunchyroll outside of Asia. Aside from the manga and anime, the series also has two live-action film adaptations. The Chinese Ministry of Culture blacklisted Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu as well as 37 other works on June 9, 2015. more.

For heavens sake Parasyte is like the best ever, it talks about which species should survive, which shouldn't, what it means to be human, what it means to be a mother figure... It even adds in science fiction, comedy, romance, and action into the story.

36 Bokura no Kiseki
37 Arisa
38 Lost + Brain
39 Cage of Eden

One of the best survival manga that was ever made.Just awesome. Truly unravels the human psyche.Fun to read but not hardcore psychological in my opinion. 8/10

40 Enigma

I read it because I had nothing better to do but... Wow, I would give it 9/10

41 Deadman Wonderland

I honestly can't tell you how phycological this is, in my opinion. This manga series is not only way better than the anime but the overall story, characters, setting is just so amazing, gory and really something else. I really would go on for hours about how great this manga is so go see for yourself what at I mean. (Weird messed up disturbing shiz doesn't get real until later volumes)

42 Tenkuu Shinpan

43 Usotsuki Mii-kun to Kowareta Maa-chan: Totteoki no Uso

The best liar ever coupled with the cutest yandere. very addicted.

44 Golden Boy

That guy is just so damn cool.a great slice of life manga but not psychological in my opinion.but awesome nonetheless.the manga is all about life lessons a lot of harem kinda spoils the mood and art is a lot like dbz

45 Lookism

This one manga so cool

46 Multiple Personality Detective Psycho

One of the best police and psychological manga out there. It may be confusing sometimes though mostly due to the fact that the main protagonist has multiple personalities(MPD) and changes randomly which is good for the story but confusing at the beginning but you will get the hang of it.It's not that hard to find it either and it's a good read. However it contain mature WAY mature content but give it a try.

47 Neon Genesis Evangelion Neon Genesis Evangelion, commonly referred to as Evangelion or Eva, is a Japanese animated television series produced by Gainax and Tatsunoko Production, and directed by Hideaki Anno.

Shows you the raw, unfiltered emotion of the hurt human and teenage angst... just skimming through the anime, but am currently waiting for the first 4 manga volumes in the mail!

48 Kubera

Definite pick. It has my stomach twisted in knots. Amazing.

One of my best manga ever
So damn good

49 Dragon Head

I'm surprised no one put this on the list as this is one of the best psychological manga out there. The thrill and the story just so good and the art really adds up to the story. Couldn't recommend you enough to read this one.
