Top 10 Best Psychological Manga

The Top Ten
1 Liar Game

Absolutely the best! best! best!... This manga promise you to be entertain and I love the message they want to portray in this manga. Totally one of the most underrated manga, it didn't even got an anime. I'm happy this website Liar Game ranks number 1 at least some intellextual people understand its value : )

As a fan of psychological genre, Liar game is the absolute best of them all (though the only flaw is its ending). Following by One outs and Death note.

This really changes my life reading it. Although it does focus on Yokoya throughout the manga after the contraband game instead of Harimoto, it deserves a read. Before those in power take it down.

2 Death Note Death Note is a Japanese television drama anime series based on the manga series of the same name by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The show is centered around Light Yagami - a promising highschooler and aspiring detective with a strong sense of "justice".

Death Note is perfect from the start till the end. The twists and turns will keep you wanting for more and all the main characters will leave you baffled and in wonder. But the best part is how the author subtly brings out the theme of evil and good throughout the entire series - What may be evil to ones eye, may be good to the other and vice versa. This one is definitely for the ones who like books that will keep you guessing and leave you breathless in the end.

DEATH NOTE is a MASTERPIECE! Every single second that you read it incites your mind to think like they would making you think more about your own position in the world and making you understand where human corruption comes from.

3 Usogui

Usogui doesn't have a strong start, but it's one of the very few manga that manages to be extremely entertaining even after 40 volumes. This manga is currently ranked 3rd but I believe it should deserve better. The lack of recognition of this manga is painful to watch.

Glad to see quite possibly the most underrated manga #3 on this list. Madarame Baku is the ultimate genius.

The best, the way he exploit lies and how he is so sure about his gamble makes Madarame Baku in my opinion the smartest person in the psychological universe

4 One Outs

Now I pretty much think baseball is the most boring game ever, but this anime is amazing. They make baseball so fascinating and thrilling I can't predict anything next. Tokuchi is also my personal favorite characters out of all the anime I have seen, just because of his attitude, him screwing people over and being badass about it, his voice, his spiky hair, his evil eyes, basically from his personality, to mind, to character design I love!

The story about Tokuchi Toua the gambler to outsmart others including players, coaches and team owners in a very fascinating way. This will give you whole new perspective about the game as a person like me who didn't like baseball to begin with became completely addicted to it.

5 Mirai Nikki

Mirai Nikki at first was pretty much like a cliche manga where you could pretty much predict Yuno Gasai defeating otter diary owners for Yukkiteru Amano. But the more I read it the more surprises and thrills it gave, I love how thrilling it is and how it kept me hyped up wondering who would be God.

This was awesome. The plot was well done and the plot twist, oh my god. This is honestly my favourite manga of all time.

If your a girl you might not like it... BUT GUYS WILL! Very interesting, introduces crazy wifu-status girl... Whose really, really nuts. Read for the death

Cool-things

Thriller

And more importantly the plot... Both story plot and the non type story plot

6 Detective Conan Detective Conan, also known as Case Closed, is a Japanese anime and manga series created by Gosho Aoyama that debuted in 1994. The series follows the story of a high school detective named Shinichi Kudo, who is transformed into a child after being poisoned and adopts the name Conan Edogawa. The show... read more

Even though, Detective Conan is more suited to detective genre than a psychological, The Black Organization plot is must-read one to all the psychological fans.

Can't say this is psychological genre. A mere detective story with some romantic comedy for me.

Not much read on this one, but for me this will change your pace in your psychological interest, it doesn't reveal that much and the cases are not that complicated

7 Gamble Fish

Totally forget the story after finish it for a while. It doesn't leave much impression.

This is just some of hardcore gamblers out there and he will do anything to win, good read 8/10

8 Elfen Lied

In my opinion it is one of the best psychological manga I have ever read and the anime is good too

9 Tokyo Ghoul Tokyo Ghoul is a Japanese dark fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Sui Ishida. It was serialized in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump between September 2011 and September 2014, and it has been collected in fourteen tankōbon volumes as of August 2014.

One of the aspects of Tokyo Ghoul that I absolutely love is how Kanekis personality changes constantly though out the series and the way that it is depicted it amazing as well. Even so Tokyo Ghoul has many other amazing characters and we get to understand them and their motives even if they are just side characters.

My favorite manga of all tim. Brilliant symbolism, character development, and world building that seems to expand more and more with every read. Unbelievably well written and complex characters, especially our main, Kaneki. Easily #1 for me.

10 Oyasumi Punpun

It was like I was seeing through the eyes of a depressed person. It made me question every single thing that I do. The protagonist is such the average person and yet all of that happens to him. And it's not all about him. This manga shows the perspectives of all the characters and you learn how they effect him and the other way around. My opinion is to read lighter psychological manga's first because this will be way to much for someone that is happy and satisfied with their life. I really question if people that had depression before will like this manga. Maybe because they can relate to it, but they probably might become depressed again. I wish there were more reviews on this manga cause I am still not sure what the different forms of his head meant. If anyone can explain that to me please do! Anyways it's a roller coaster for sure it has 141 chapters and it will tear your heart, mind and soul out :D

The Contenders
11 Monster

A series that leave you wondering, and for every person it might have its unique appeal.
I for one was entranced by the "person without a name" part, but for my friend it was another part that hit close to home. That shows just how rich this. It's deep.

I actually rank this higher than Death Note, but close. Death Note may have a more attractive characters art-wise, but no characters scared me like Johan Liebert do.

Wow, I don't even know how to describe it. It was done so masterfully, as someone who has read and enjoyed both Death Note and Monster, I can say that this far surpasses Death Note, they are not even close to being in the same league.

12 Berserk
13 Imawa No Kuni No Alice

Well, I don't even know from where to start, it was , luckily, one of the first mangas that I read, since then, I've never read something as good as this one manga. Many people said that Tokyo ghoul and many other well known mangas are psychological but I just couldn't relate when I read them after alice in border land.. like to me Imawa no kuni no Alice is the definition of despair, suffring, inner conflicts, dealing with hardships and surviving so to put it simple the word of "psychological" is exclusively made for this one. I know my comment sounds biased but this is how much impact this one manga has on me(I read it 3 times already). It's been a while since I started reading mangas, and this one was, is and will be my favourite manga ever!

14 Tokyo Ghoul :re
15 Gantz
16 Bastard

I just recently started to read it but it's so damn good, like I can't stop reading it! I totally love it!

Amazing, I couldn't stop reading. The artwork was especially well done!

Honestly this one grabbed my from the get go and now I can't wait to find out what is next

17 Doubt

This one, is the one that makes you almost disappointed in the end, its not that its bad but the way curves in the end is not just as pleasing as other

Ending was weird but I liked it!

18 Death Parade Death Parade is a 2015 Japanese anime television series created, written, and directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa and produced by Madhouse.

One of the best. Sincerely, if you are looking for a good psychological anime, I highly recommend this. Highly. Also Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni...my absolute favorite manga and the anime is great, considering length of the arcs and not being able to fit all of the details into the anime. But the prize are the visual novels. Umineko tak

Shiki, full stop...just...wow. The anime is amazing as well, with a majorly kick a $$ theme song by Buck-Tick.

It's yaoi, but Sakura Gari is amazing. Psychological? Oh hell yeah. You may need brain bleach and psychological /emotional counseling after, but damn...it's good. A personal favorite.

Umineko no Naku Koro Ni is Dante meets Agatha Christie...oh hell...just read everything from Ryukishi 07.

19 Boku Dake ga Inai Machi

I love this manga. I highly recommend this series for those who like mystery and some thriller. A guy who has some kind of magic powers that will change the course of the future of others around him and himself.

The artwork might not be that good and it gradually loses the thrills. But the first half is truly unforgettable.

20 Kurosagi

This is just some swindler on your service, got swindled? Call on this guy. Kurosagi is when you read it you feel a lottle "justice" on every read because the frauds there are the same on real life

I really, really, love this manga, I wanna buy it personally. But they didn't have volume one anymore as this manga is an old manga. Sometime I'm confused with politics this and that but as you understand it, you'll get hooked for sure -w-

21 Kaiji

First of all, what? art sucks? are you guys out of your mind? The art is excellent.
.. or do you mean the anime cause the art in the anime really sucks.

anyway, I can't wait for the next chapter of Kaiji.

What, kaiji for me is the most underrated anime of all time. yea sure the drawings are a bit annoying but the story line is unique. they said that the plot is predictable but the amazing quality on this anime is those games and tricks that are being pulled by the mc. psychological yet philosophical, this anime needs more attention. highly recommended! trust me on this

22 Btooom!

This anime is disgusting and SAO is better than this.

Was interesting, I recommend this to anyone who is also a fan of Battle Royal

25 Aku no Hana

Aku no Hana is one of Oshimi Shuzo's most popular manga. It also has an anime adaptation that faithfully follows the manga. So, if you want to watch the anime and then read the manga, then by all means, do so. This manga is about a boy who is being blackmailed by a rebel at school to do very disturbing things. By the way, the protagonist is nothing like the mainstream ones; he's not strong-minded or striving for anything in life, and he's definitely not a role model. However, the female characters in Oshimi Shuzo's work all have a dominant and powerful vibe to them. Anyways... The manga revolves around the breaking of principles and norms and challenges everything that shapes your identity. I put bunny ears because society plays a role in defining who you are. The anime's animation is unique, and the setting represents how society confines us. The unsettling atmosphere is accompanied by eerie music. In the end, all I can say is that it's definitely an anime worth watching. At first, you might be like, "What the hell am I watching/reading?" but then you'll be like, "Oh snap, uhuhu, I can't stop watching... Clicks to the next episode of Aku no Hana... Don't judge me." So, in short, WATCH THE ANIME. It's a lifetime experience, and get ready to be wrecked.
