Great way to get entroduced to punk, as a lot of their albums are melodic enough that it won't turn away people who aren't punk fans such as: recipe for hate, stranger than fiction and no control, yet they also have enough harder stuff like suffer and how could hell be any worse, in order to give fans a good introduction to hardcore.

This list it's to introduce punk music to novices, so I think, start with the classic bands, not from the 10th(? ) wave of punk. Most of the other bands here (besides NOFX and Anti-Flag, even so I like 'em) are acceptable. There ought to be Sham 69, SLF, Subhumans, 999, Buzzcocks, The Exploited (plus others) to represent old-school UK-Punk and New York Dolls, Patti Smith Group, The Weirdos, Fear, The Modern Lovers (+ others) for the US-Punk. And to show that it's not only UK and US, also incl. Slime, Daily terror, Nina Hagen Band (+others) for Germany, The Saints and Radio Birdman for Australia, Perkele, Asta Kask and Ebna Gron for Scandinavia, Panx Romana (Greece), Dezerter (Poland), Reazione (Italy), Berurier Noir (France), Colera and Los Violadores (South America), SNFU, Nomeansno, D.O.A., The Nils, Subhumans from Canada and many other countries.

The first punk song I ever heard was pretty fly for a white guy, I was 9 years old (1998), and that song changed my life. My parents bought me Americana and I just couldn't stop listening to it. Since then I haven't stopped listening to punk music. It's been 20 years now and I still believe the kids aren't alright is the best punk song ever written. So yes, based on my experience, this is definitely the best band to start listening to punk music.
