Top Ten Questions About Rap Music to Ask Users of TheTopTens
Since this has been done for pop, rock, and even "bad" music, lets do it for rap.Yes, but only Nas, 2Pac, Biggie,... And some more.
You already know my answer.
Duh. Rap is the best. *dabs*
Kollegah when it comes to German rappers. His lyrics are so full of complexities that a full analysis would be difficult. First of all his rhyming, which is what he is arguably most famous for. A line with less than three rhyming syllables would sound extremely weird from him, and he usually has way more than that. And the other great thing about him is his word play. He does not simply make puns (which would be awesome on its own), he twists and turns idioms and phrases around, breaking them down to their literal essence, often using homophones nobody would ever think of, and then gives lines highly intelligent double meanings that may take a few seconds to realize.
SpongeBozz is very close to the throne still. His rhyming may be even better and longer (often he uses the same rhyme structure for an entire verse, or in "Zlatan Ibrahimovic" for an entire song) and he has an extremely sick machine gun flow Kollegah does not have (even when Kolle does double timing he ...more
My favorite is Eminem. But I'm sure you already knew that.
A tie between Eminem and Mike Shinoda for me.
I can't decide but between Tech n9ne, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Tupac.
I'm going with 2Pac. Biggie had some good themes in his songs, and I won't deny his hypnotizing flow, but 2Pac was better lyrically and left a bigger influence.
I actually like Biggie more, I mean his flow is wicked. I can't argue, though, that Pac had better lyricism.
Well, biggie has a better flow, but Pac is a better lyricist
The Notorious B.I.G, No question whatsoever.
Hm. A brilliant concept album or an even more brilliant album representing black culture? I'm going with To Pimp a Butterfly. No disrespect to GKMC.
Both of them are superb, but as far as bringing out some real feelings, I'd definitely go with TPAB
Hot take, I honestly think GKMC is better, though I believe both albums are 10/10 albums. GKMC just has a more interesting sound.
Pimp a butterfly
I love Lose Yourself, but Changes resonates with me more. It has a better theme and better lyrics.
My favorite song is lose yourself then changes
Lose Yourself. Both of them are good.
Lose Yourself.
They both are the best rap albums of all time, but I'll have to say The Marshall Mathers LP, since it has a mix of meaningful and funny songs
PROBABLY THE Marshall Mathers LP. I prefer the 2nd one. Not such a big Nas fan.
Marshall Mathers LP.
If you see my review on Ms. Jackson, you'll see why I think OutKast is the better hip-hop duo.
My story with rap is strange; at first, because even though I grew up in a bad area in Scotland, rap was looked down on in my culture, so I looked down on it myself. One day I decided that I wasn't going to judge it just by misconceptions in my culture that others had, so I threw myself in. Firstly I discovered eminem and tupac and other acclaimed rappers, and after hearing the music, discovered that rap had a connection with me. Now I am a hip hop head, and if I was from America and didn't have this accent I think I could make a good go of it
I didn't think it was good at first, I thought it was bad because of most of the mainstream new school rappers. But I've dived into it a lot and enjoy it
Overrated and didn't suit with me at first. But, it's actually grown on me recently. I find it somewhat enjoyable (the non mainstream stuff, apart from Eminem, Nas, etc).
I thought it to be a cool genre from my first listen, can't remember what I listened to first, however.
Not a lot of them but there's a few of them.
Slim Shady. Marshall Mathers can be a bit depressing sometimes but he still good.
This is a tough choice. In one corner, you have the controversial, humorous persona that is Slim Shady, in the other corner, you have the raw, emotional Marshall Mathers...
Close call, but I will go with Marshall Mathers.
Marshall mathers
Unfortunately, the guy known for raping goats for no reason exists. His name is Tyga and there is no song over a -1/5. Except...Gucci Snakes which is because Desiigner saved it...I loathe Tyga with every piece if my farts. Nothing about Tyga is good. Another example is a bunch of fools called Rae Sremmurd. They have ZERO flow in most of their songs. Their sings are boring like Tygas.
Lil Wayne. He can go hard here and there (ex. Believe Me) but when I hear his songs where he just talks a bunch of random crap it throws me off.
My least favourite rapper is 2 chains he sounds like a dying goat stuck in a fan
Drake he cannot rap at all or he can't speak when he raps.
Run the Jewels is great from what I've heard from them, but I have more experience with Death Grips, and they have such a unique sound. I'm definitely going with Death Grips.
Run the jewels
Why are you stupid enough to be aggressive over a person's taste in music?
Why are you stupid enough to add this item?
This sort of counts because both of them are rappers.
Sorry don't know them
Why is this an item? They both have nothing in common!
Dance with the devil wins it because of one line that I thought was genius: "there's no diversity because we're burning in the melting pot"
I've all way thought Stan is overrated dance with the devil
That's very difficult... I say Dance with the devil
I'd go with Endtroducing but slightly.
EXTREMELY Hard choice. They are both mediocre...Uhh I can't decide. Lil Wayne looks like he put in more effort into the Carter 3 than Eminem put in Encore. I'll go with the Carter 3.
If it was the Carter 4 then easily Encore. Screw the Carter 4.
The College Dropout is good but Graduation is better because it's more incling.
XXXTENTACION by a very light margin.
Both are respected rappers but Rakim.
