The Top Ten

1 "Art used to be something to cherish. Now literally anything could be art. This post is art." - Unknown user of 4chan

Art is expression. Therefore, everything is, indeed, art. It may be a label you can bestow on anyone, but I don't want it losing its value either. Being an artist is hard, but I love it! - keycha1n

Art was once something so complex and beautiful; now, draw a squiggly line, and forever be known as an artist. - CatCode

2 "We are a society of notoriously unhappy people: lonely, anxious, depressed, destructive, dependent — people who are glad when we have killed the time we are trying so hard to save." - Erich Fromm

7 "Even the technology that promises to unite us, divides us. Each of us is now electronically connected to the globe, and yet we feel utterly alone." - Dan Brown

We don't even notice how there ARE things going on around us. We are one with the world, one with each other; yet we act as if we are the only ones left on Earth. - CatCode

8 "Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living. We have grasped the mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount." - Omar Nelson Bradley

The Contenders

11 "Today is like this simile. Not very good." - Unknown

What about the generation with the slavery? You're saying that's better? - SuperHyperdude

12 "Nostalgia is believing that the past is better than it really was because the present sucks" - Unknown

No, nostalgia is because we tend to remember the good times and every time we revisit the memory, we romanticize it even more because we modify memories to fit our mood. Which is why a person can say, go on a rollercoaster and spend the whole time terrified out of their wits, and retell the story like it was exhilarating and fun. It rather shows how our memories are unreliable emotion wise. - keycha1n

Don't say that. If you do it won't help. It's just gonna get worse if you think it. Be positive about the future. We know something good will come.

But the present still sucks, and the future will be even worse.

13 "Cause you fricking fricks just can't...ever...be quenched! Your...your fantasies can never be quenched, can they? You fricking fricks! When will you learn?! When will you learn, that your actions have consequences!? - Sammy Harbors
14 "This is the end, beautiful friend, the end, of our elaborate plans, the end, of everything that stands, the end" - Jim Morrison

That's a bit harsh, don't you think? I was rather surprised to see this on the list. I think Jim would have faith in my generation. Maybe a more accurate quote would be from Billy Joel.

"The good old days weren't always good, and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems." - PetSounds
