Top Ten Rappers in Their Prime in 2017

Top rappers that are in their prime and don't have their best days behind them.
The Top Ten
1 Logic Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, better known as Logic, is one of the most influential artists in the rap game today. He was Born on January 22, 1990, in Gaithersburg, Maryland and first gained major fame through making 2013's edition of the XXL Top-10 Freshmen List and has easily become the most successful in that entire class (Only Schoolboy Q, Joey Badass and Chief Keef come close). Logic even got more popular in 2017, when he released his song, 1-800-273-8255. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Music Video and the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. It also reached number 1 on the billboard charts. It was on his album, Everybody.

It's a five man race for the crown with Logic, Kendrick, Cole, Chance and Drake. However, logic is the best rapper right now his Lyrics are equal to Kendrick and Cole as displayed primarily in his albums Under Pressure, Incredible True Story, and mixtapes Undeniable and Welcome to Forever. He even shows his versatility and rivals Chance the Rappers creativity in his mixtape Bobby Tarantino and album Everybody.

His phone number-titled song is pretty popular. It saved the lives of millions, I hear

He is the goat

2 J Cole Jermaine Lamarr Cole is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. Born on a military base in Germany but raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cole initially gained recognition as a rapper following the release of his debut mixtape, The Come Up, in early-2007.

It surprised me that I had Cole this low... I could have had him anywhere from 1-5 but to me it came down to sound and personal enjoyment as his lyrics are at least equal to Logic, Drake and Kendrick as shown in all his albums from The Come Up to 4 Your Eyes Only. His is best album to me was Born Sinner, which I put just a little below the best from Kendrick(Good Kid M.A.A.d City), Logic(Under Pressure) and Drake (Take Care).

Cole is my favourite rapper but he ain't in his prime that was probably aroung 2014 forest hill drive

Cole is the best, not Kendrick. Damn was trash.

3 Kendrick Lamar Kendrick Lamar Duckworth (born June 17, 1987) is an American rapper and songwriter. Raised in Compton, California, Lamar embarked on his musical career as a teenager under the stage name K-Dot, releasing a mixtape that garnered local attention and led to his signing with indie record label Top Dawg ...read more.

Arguably the best lyricist in rap talks about actual issues in the world today... Has many amazing albums like Good Kid M.A.A.D City, Section.80, Damn, and to Pimp a Butterfly. he's been around for a while, but he's improved over time and found away to be more relevant than ever.

He hasn't been in his prime in years, he peaked back in 2011 when he dropped Section.80. Everything after that was just overrated and mediocre. Damn was trash.

Kendrick should be number one not this logic

Kendrick Lamar is the best not logic

4 Joey Badass Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, better known by his stage name Joey Badass, is an American hip hop recording artist and actor.

Youngest Rapper here. Just off of potential he's top ten not to mention what he's put out so far.

Kendrick Lamar is just a joke compared to this guy.

5 Chance the Rapper Chancelor Jonathan Bennett, known professionally as Chance the Rapper, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer from the West Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois.

Considering his age and the fact he is independent its surprising he is where he is which goes to his work ethic. I had trouble placing 3-5. His Coloring Book mixtape somehow was even better than Acid rap was and he has a very unique style and and personality.

6 NF Nathan "Nate" John Feuerstein, whose stage name is NF, is an American Christian hip hop rapper, singer and musician from Gladwin, Michigan.

Brings lyrics. Real. Talks about his tragic experiences growing up and he has had many breakthroughs on the billboard charts showing his growing influence.

Lyrics are insane, can rap really well and even sing.

He one of the greatest rappers alive

8 Denzel Curry Denzel Rae Don Curry (born February 16, 1995) is an American rapper and songwriter from Miami Gardens, Florida. He released his debut full-length album, titled Nostalgic 64 on September 3, 2013. His second full-length album, titled Imperial, was released on March 9, 2016. His third album, Ta13oo, came out in 2018, and his next album, ZUU came less than a year later.
9 Drake Aubrey Drake Graham, known professionally as Drake, is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor, born on October 24, 1986 in Toronto, Canada. He started his career on Canadian reality show "Degrassi: The Next Generation".

Somehow Drake has become underrated in the rap community. he has the lyrics, voice and talent. He has produced many amazing albums and each new one that he puts out we have high expectations. Brings a little more than chance so far and still has more potential in my opinion, but only slightly.

Drake's prime was way back in 2009-2010. Ever since he became famous his music has declined. More life was hardly even real rap music. Views was trash. God's Plan is annoying. The last good thing he did was IYRTITL and he had ghostwriters on that.

10 Black Thought Tariq Luqmaan Trotter, better known as Black Thought, is an American artist who is the lead MC of the Philadelphia-based hip hop group The Roots, as well as an occasional actor.
The Contenders
11 Big Sean Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, known professionally as Big Sean, is an American hip hop recording artist from Detroit, Michigan.

Underrated lyricist. Listen to his early albums and his prowess in that area can be seen and even some of his newer songs. Otherwise great creativity and vibe.

Just a mediocre rapper overall.

12 Rittz Jonathan McCollum, better known by his stage name Rittz, is an American rapper from Gwinnett County, Georgia.
13 Big K.R.I.T. Justin Scott, better known by his stage name Big K.R.I.T., is an American rapper and record producer from Meridian, Mississippi.

Too talented to not be on this list. One of the few artists that do everything (even videos and beats) himself. Best Albums: Ill Mind of Hopsin 5-8. Gazing at the Moonlight, Haywire, Raw.

15 Boosie Badazz

The oldest guy on this list, but he is justified being here because of the amount of mixtapes and albums he drops (6 in 2016) while battling cancer and incarceration. Brings the streets back to rap. Great story teller and lyricist.Best albums: Touch Down to Cause Hell, and In My Feelings and Bad Az.

16 Tyler, The Creator Tyler Gregory Okonma (born March 6, 1991), better known by his stage name Tyler, The Creator, is an American rapper, record producer, and music video director. He is well known for his hostile relations with his now deceased father, whom he addresses in multiple songs and albums telling the audience how much he distastes his father. Tyler has composed seven albums, which are Bastard (2009), Goblin (2011), Wolf (2013), Cherry Bomb (2015), Flower Boy (2017), IGOR (2019), and Call Me If You Get Lost (2021).
17 Jarren Benton Jarren Giovanni Benton is an American rapper from Decatur, Georgia. 20 Mick Jenkins
21 Lecrae Lecrae Devaughn Moore, mononymously known as Lecrae, is an American Christian hip hop artist, songwriter, record producer and actor. He is also the co-founder of reach records.

The best rapper in the game! Lecrae has the vibe, he has the voice, and most importantly, he brings substance to Hip Hop! The way it's supposed to be.

22 Earl Sweatshirt Thebe Neruda Kgositsile, better known by his stage name Earl Sweatshirt, is an American rapper, record producer, and disc jockey from Los Angeles, California.
