Immortal Technique

Felipe Andres Coronel, better known by the stage name Immortal Technique, is an American rapper and urban activist from Lima, Peru. He was born on February 19, 1978

He is more than just a rapper, he is a revolutionary. The man lives what he rhymes about. He reads constantly and speaks intelligently in his rhymes and interviews. Immortal Technique is the next level of a political emcee like Chuck D, and critiques the whole social order that we live under. He raps to spread truth, and not for money. Listen to songs such as "Dance With the Devil", "One (Remix)", "You Never Know", "Caught in a Hustle" and "Toast to the Dead" to understand why nobody today is with Immortal Technique on a lyrical level. He raps for higher purpose which is displayed throughout his rhymes. His metaphors are so deep, that you can hear every emotional twist that he adds to his songs for effect. He is vastly underrated because he is an underground rapper first and foremost. He came up through battle rapping, and carries a style that carries hard hitting complex metaphors. I give a lot of credit to the people that came before technique. krs-one, chuck d, grandmaster flash and so on. there are too many great rappers that helped lay the foundation for this man... but immortal technique takes it to the next level. He is the best rapper of the past ten years hands down.

I can't compare him to the people that helped create hip hip and the help further a movement. Its not fair to him or them.
He is rapping about complex ideas using words most people can't even think, never mind hearing those words uttered from their mouths, and yet he's rapping them.

Half the jokers on this list aren't rappers, they are recording artists pumping out hot garbage for the masses to swallow up. Its pop music, not hip hop.

50 cent, Jay-Z, Lil'Wayne and the like are traitors to their kind and should be ashamed of themselves. - jfhorsfield

He tells it like it is. Also very lyrically talented. He makes serious culture references in songs which make him less commercial yet the most thought provoking MC in the game. He is the best story teller of all time (dance with the devil and you'll never know. ) He also has some classic boasting raps such as obnoxious. Also his songs involve actual topics instead of some rappers who just rap over a beat about stuff that doesn't even go together. His work after his first two albums is not as good aside from bin laden. People insult his flow but that is because he wrote his first album in the underground with beats coming after the songs were already written.

Taking into consideration, intelligence, lyricism, flow technicality, voice (how listenable it is) and how good a person he is IT gets my vote. sometimes his production is a wee bit crappy but he has all the qualities without any apparent weaknesses and instead of spending his cash on gold chains and daft cars he builds orphanages and raises awareness for good causes and gets actively involved in left wing politics.

Immortal Technique has a lot of diversity in his lyrics, unlike the mainstream. He talks politics, wars, philosophy, religion and so on. He is very educated and dedicated to the community. He can freestyle and battle rap, unlike all the commercial rappers. He spits truth. I'm sure most mainstream rappers are too stupid to understand the topics of his lyrics or even his vocabulary. He is the most underrated rapper ever. But like he said about the industry rappers: If you go platinum it has nothing to do with luck, it just means that a million people are stupid!

I don't agree with a lot of the things he says and he's still one of my favorite rappers. Very well spoken, and despite all of the over the top lyrics, he has a lot of clever, and at times beautiful things to say, creating many thought provoking and quotable lines. And in my opinion his songs "Dance with the devil" and "You never know" are some of the most important songs in all of hip hop, "Dance with the devil" as the most haunting and one of the best, if not the best storytelling tracks in rap, and "You never know" as one of the saddest and most beautiful songs.

Immortal Technique doesn't only have some of the best lyrics in hip-hop history but he's a political activist who speaks out for the people all over the world who can't get their truth out. How they live their lives, and how America is lying about how they live. There should be more rappers in the hip-hop world like but sadly their isn't and the planet is rotting.

The fact that there are people like Lil Wayne and major industry rappers at the top while Tech sits down here makes me cry for music. IT is one of the best out there because of his untouchable flow and his music actually has substance. He is also a very smart individual and doesn't resort to lame stuff like saying, "Swag" and any ridiculous sayings that most rappers use.

The most underrated rapper ever. Seriously, no rapper alive can compare to his storytelling or use of vivid Imagery. He is just too good of a rapper to dumb his lyrics down for a mainstream audience. The realest rapper ever next to Pac.

No one can match the lyrics, ruthlessness, or ideology of immortal technique. He is one of the only rappers ever to care enough about their cause to sacrifice fame and a record deal to keep rapping about what they really care about, in his case mostly politics. - dude5600

I have tried listening to everyone in this list. Nobody currently in the top ten comes close. I typically listen to a variety of music, but the majority of it is metal because in my opinion takes more skill. Immortal Technique, Aesop Rock, some Eminem, Louis Logic, Tupac, and Black Thought are the only rappers that I have heard that I regard as legitimate poets. And Immortal Technique's style and sound is unique and helps you weigh each word. Should be top three at least.

To me he should be top 10! He is original in so many ways. Delivery, format, rhyme scheme, and top.. All his songs make you think.. Make you want to replay because you missed something he said. Mainly, the guy doesn't change for anyone.. He's not in it for money, just for word of mind.

Lyrically revolutionary. No rapper has done anything like this guy. Its like listening to an Encyclopedia twist words into a lyrical / poetic masterpiece.

Tech is in my top 3 with is Bone, Tech, Pac I really like others and it makes it hard to pick one over the other but they have done a lot for music and tech speaks the truth so do all my favorites I think Eminem is close to any of my top 3 and is for sure 4th maybe better would have to listen to all and have but do it before I decide. Would not change these 4 being the best ever in rap.50 is great also and should be in the top 10 for sure I'd say 5 or 6 them J-Z.

This guy is one of the only rappers who raps about hardcore materials and tells stories about it like he was there. He also is as politically moving as Bob Marley and Public Enemy were. I'm surprised he is not as big as he should be.

the rawest best lyricist of all time. cause of death bangers freestyle exposes the illuminati and freemasons rap for the people revolution true peoples rapper underrated hasnt sold out like most of the other even tupac. used to say bad things like bitches but now doesn't great rapper WOW he lyrically shakes you

He is one of the best rapper, he should be in the top 10 list. He always sings about real things, his songs always have deep meanings. Just listen to DANCING WITH THE DEVIL SONG you will know what I mean.

Intellectually blessed and kind, the man is the only rapper who cares for third world countries and made his album for free. This guy knows better than any other fake rapper who sings for making money, IT is the best rapper ever in the entire mother f universe

The realest if not one of the realest rappers out there. One of the only rappers with a respectable political opinion. Also you have to respect that he is an immigrant who grew up in harlem but yet doesn't try to blindly "rep" his hood and the crime that goes on in harlem.

They will slice the heads of everybody above them on this list off for dissing them, and use their dead bodies to write their names in calligraphy. These guys rip.

This list was made by people obsessed with mainstream pop culture trash. Technique destroys the mike with just about every song he makes and, in a freestyle tournament, he would eat Lil Wayne alive. Everybody who listens to Immortal Technique knows this for a fact. Just to let you know, LilWayne is higher on this list than Tech and that should change. Please do this so that people would actually know that there are some out there who actually know what talent is. Thanks. - bishop.moore07

This guy is underground not many people would of heard of him but he speaks the truth... If you like Eminem, you'll love immortal technique

I think that this guy should kick Lil Wayne out of his current spot in this list. Although "Dance With The Devil" debuted in the wake of 9/11, it is no doubt in my mind that this song is a MASTERPIECE. Who else would much rather listen to this over listening to junkie rappers with Auto-Tune and reverb? I would.

I hate how underrated this guy is. He is a lyrical genius. Just listen to dance with the devil and I bet you that it mind will be blown! Also listen to Peruvian cocaine, Harlem streets, industrial revolution, etc. There was never anyone who could be as much as a lyrical killer as he is. I don't get why he is so underrated. The only rapper who beats him is mayb tupac. But one other thing is that this man doesn't only rap about drugs alcohol weed and partying. He raps about real and he ain't afraid to voice his opinion. Ok just to get to the point, he is probably the greatest lyricist to ever live. Done

How can you even compare everyone else to him, hip hop will never be dead as long as true rappers like Immortal Technique exist. Listen to THE 4th BRANCH! TECHNIQUES LYRICISM PROBABLY SAVED MY LIFE AND OPENED MY MIND TO THE WORLD AROUND US, THE DUDE IS A GLOBAL HUMANITARIAN TOO...Immortal Technique is about supreme intellect, chilling lyrics, narration at its peak and most importantly THE TRUTH. UNCOMMPARABLE.
