Top 10 Reasons Why the 2010s is the Worst Decade for Music

The Top Ten

1 No talent in modern pop music

Everything is just explicit. Most rappers just mumble the lyrics.
They also need autotune because they cannot sing.

Every music decade has their flaws though. No decade is perfect. What I think is that most Modern Pop songs are too cheesy and some singers hide their real talent with autotune. Not all Modern Pop songs are bad, but most of them sound the same and singers use ghost writers. ~ Userguy44

I'm not going to call you out on this list, or say that you're wrong. I'll just leave you a recommendation of a good modern artist you will like. Check out Porcupine Tree (or just Steven Wilson in general), if you like Floyd, you'll like them. - cjWriter1997

Yes, this is true, but only in some cases. There are some songs that I do like that have been on the charts. But the overwhelming majority of modern pop is terrible. - CrunchyMemes6789

2 Everything is auto-tuned

Not everything is autotuned.

3 It's all electronic music instead of rock n' roll

Not really besides Rock isn't the only music genre ot he only good music genre out there.

Rock and metal were killed by all this pop/rap bull - NickelbackLinkinPark4Eva

4 No instruments are played

This is false but I'm not going to waste my time making a ten paragraph argument of why I disagree.

5 All artists sound the same

No diversity in post 2009 music whatsoever.

Take a shot every time you turn on your local hits station and hear the common sad indie pop girl wailing away through the airwaves

True. You can only tell a boy apart from a girl these days - NickelbackLinkinPark4Eva

6 Nobody writes their own songs anymore

FALSE there are people that still write their own songs.

7 Lack of variety
8 Everything is written about love and partying
9 The music videos always have unnecessary skits at the beginning
10 No innovation or creativity.

Today's music industry is going through what Hollywood went through in the 1950s. No innovation or creativity has happened in music since the late 2000s.

The difference is that in the 1950s it was the Second World War that led to Hollywoods setback, it took until the late 1960s for Hollywood to get back on its knees.

Just as a test, name 5 movies from the 1950s which aren't musicals or westerns (those genres were ubiquitous in the 1950s). Now name 5 big artists from the 2010s who aren't either autotuned pop or EDM. Exactly my point.

In the 2010s the music industry is so damn greedy that labels are more interested in making money than making good music, at best it's forgettable, at worst it's horrible.

But just like Hollywood's dark age, there is light at the end of the tunnel. It may take a while but the dark age of popular music will come to an end and something great will come next. Every art/entertainment form has it's dark age and the 2010s has been the ...more

But musicals and westerns are some of my favorite genres. - Stalin

The Contenders

11 It'll be dated in the next 5 to 10 years

It will age as badly as the synthesised music of the 1980s. I don't think anymore needs to be said.

*and will not be remembered - NickelbackLinkinPark4Eva

And then more terrible music will be made. - CrunchyMemes6789

12 Most of the songs are fake
13 It's overrated
