Top Ten Reasons Why Mind Reading is a Terrible Superpower

It would REALLY suck.

I'm drawing a lot of inspiration from Moon Rising, the sixth Wings of Fire book. The main character is a mind reader.
The Top Ten
1 You'd hear people hate you

I'd hear this many times

2 You'd probably go insane

I already am, so this won't be entirely true

If you couldn't drown it out.

3 You'd never get peace and quiet

There's a cat in Warriors who used to he able to read minds, but he could only do it when he was touching the other cat.

And that reminds me about how different Warriors is from Wings of Fire.

No you would not.

4 Crowds would be painful

All of the voices echoing in your head.

5 You'd know everyone's secrets

In Warriors, that could be useful, but I guess we're not talking about Warriors.

This can be a terrible thing.

6 If people found out, they wouldn't trust you
7 It could be hard to hear your own thoughts

Try talking in a loud stadium. You'll understand.

8 Some people think unpleasant thoughts

What if someone thought of stabbing your family to death?

9 You'd go to extreme lengths for quiet
10 You'd probably mistake a cruel thought for intention

It can be true. However, I can't be the only one who thinks about how me people around me could die.

The Contenders
11 You'd be shocked
12 It is nosy
