Top Ten Reasons Why There Needs To Be More Girl Groups

The Top Ten

1 The only commonly known modern ones are Little Mix and Fifth Harmony

Some people love Beyonce, and of course, some know she's from Destiny's Child. As for genres outside of mainstream pop, some of them have female singers but males in the band as well, and the girl groups for those genres have all faded into obscurity. - ResonatingScreamS

2 There aren't a lot of girl groups

If you include K-Pop there are actually too many.

Well, aside from K-pop. - CloudInvasion

We used to have Spice Girls, Pussycat Dolls, and others...We also have a few Japanese girl groups, but that's it. I mean, there are a lot of good all-male bands of every genre, but... - ResonatingScreamS

3 It would be an opportunity for female singers to collaborate

I kind of want a girl group consisting of Melanie Martinez, Halsey, Marina Diamandis, and Lana Del Rey. - ResonatingScreamS

4 It could be other genres, not just pop

There's nothing wrong with making pop music, of course, but what about the other genres like rock, alternative, heavy metal, even country! There are some bands like these with females as lead singers, but there are also males in the band for most of them. (Paramore and Evanescence) There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but there needs to be more girl groups in each genre. - ResonatingScreamS

5 Several band name opportunities

Any band can name themselves pretty much anything, not depending on their gender. Imagine a girl band named The Kidney Stones. - CloudInvasion

6 Even popular girl groups are fading

We've barely heard from Fifth Harmony since Camilla left, and they've decided to take an indefinite hiatus! And as for Little Mix, well...I don't know. Meanwhile, there seem to be more K-Pop and J-Pop girl groups on the rise. - ResonatingScreamS

7 Girl groups are fun

Whatever genre you choose, pop, rock, alternative...it's gonna be a wild ride! Sure, it'll take hard work and stuff, and you might have a feud with another celebrity, but as long as you love your music, then keep on pushing through!
Okay, that was really cliche. But still, as all-male bands (I don't want to use the term boy bands since those usually refer to mainstream pop) and male-female bands can be great friends and pretty popular, why not let all-female bands have their chance in the spotlight? - ResonatingScreamS

8 It could be a good opportunity for feminist activist musicians

I'm not trying to sound like a Social Justice Warrior here, but why can't you empower women through song with your friends singing along with you? - ResonatingScreamS

9 Several girl groups have broken up

Little Mix has denied rumors of a breakup, but Fifth Harmony...I don't know. Oh, and remember TLC, the Spice Girls, and Destiny's Child? (Well, I don't know if TLC really broke up, but...) We need more girl groups. - ResonatingScreamS

Too bad we have Cimorelli. - StevenUniverseIsAwesome

10 It's a creative idea

Heck, maybe you could do acapella, even though this isn't Pitch Perfect. - ResonatingScreamS
