In 1940 saw something that has never done before. Opening Day is always the way to welcome back baseball. On April 8, the Chicago White Sox faced the Cleveland Indians whose starting pitcher that day is Bob Feller. After this game, baseball witnessed the first no-hitter in Opening day History, a 1-0 win by the Cleveland Indians pitched by Bob Feller. When 1940 ended, Feller won 27 games, 261 strikeouts and a 2.61 ERA, pitching's triple crown and with it Feller was named the Sporting News Player of the Year Award.

Hall of Fame historian Lee Allen said "Keefe was one of the first pitchers celebrated for his head work. Teaming with Smiling Mickey Welch, he assumed the Giants of a well-pitched game almost every day".

Led league with 28 victories in 1924; 22 in 1925. Won 15 straight in 1924. Pitched no-hit game against Phillies, 1925. Most Valuable Player N.L. 1924.
