No they weren't the were only the 70s

Led Zepplien beats AC/DC by a long shot. AC/DC music is cool, but Led Zepplien's music means so much.

4 Guns N' Roses

Whoever put this, Led Zeppelin, Poison, Metallica, and Green Day here is a retard. They were not active during all four decades.

G-n-R were good from 1987 to 1993, then Axl totally fell apart mentally and vocally. They definitely don't qualify for this list.

I love this band song.. Rovember rain is one of the best song of Guns N Rose

Three words put at one-case in sight queen is the best rock band of the 70s or 80s and sadly not 90s

The first settled line-up consisted of Brian Jones (guitar, harmonica), Ian Stewart (piano), Mick Jagger (lead vocals, harmonica), Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass) and Charlie Watts (drums). more.

This is the best pick for this category. They've played hard rock since 1962, and they still active. Also this is the band with largest discography, maybe except of the Beatles, and they've played good for all that time. Listen to "Paint it Black", "Get off of my Cloud", "Sympathy for the devil", "Gimme Shelter" and you'll know why you have to vote on them.

You call hard rock wrong there classic rock n roll and still great

The Contenders

11 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

These guys actually began in the 1960's, and are still very going today.
They fight with each other a lot, and Neil Young usually ends up stomping out in the middle of things, but the music is so incredibly good, it seems to be worth the aggravation for them.

The members of this band know how good they are together, which is why they have broken up and re-united more often than any other group.
Interestingly, all of the members are in the RRHOF anyway, separately from this group! This was indeed the first "Supergroup". Check out The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Hollies.

12 Rush Rush Rush is a Canadian progressive rock band that was formed in 1968. Even though the only founding member still in the band is Alex Lifeson (Guitar), the band is most well-known for their current members Neil Peart (Drums) and Geddy Lee (Bass, Vocals). more.

The band's more.
17 Santana Santana Santana is an American Latin rock band formed in San Francisco, California in 1967 by Mexican-American guitarist Carlos Santana.

Santana may not be a sexy pick like the other groups on this list but he played a part in all four decades.

I loved when he played wit matchbox 20

18 Chicago

I live here! :) best city in the WORLD

19 Mötley Crüe Mötley Crüe Mötley Crüe was an American metal band formed in Los Angeles, California on January 17, 1981. The group was founded by bassist Nikki Sixx and drummer Tommy Lee, lead vocalist Vince Neil and lead guitarist Mick Mars.
