1 Metallica Metallica is an American Heavy/Thrash Metal band formed in 1981. The original lineup was James Hetfield (Vocalist and Rhythm guitarist), Dave Mustaine (Lead Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums), Ron McGovney (Bassist). The group came into mainstream from their Self-Titled album and the hit single "Enter Sandman".

With their first two albums, Kill 'Em All and Ride The Lightning reaching underground success, their third effort, Master of Puppets has since become one of the most important heavy metal albums ever, as it became the first thrash metal album to be certified platinum. 2 Vader Vader is a Polish death metal band from Olsztyn. Formed in 1983, the group was founded by then-bassist Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek and guitarist Zbigniew "Vika" Wróblewski. Starting as a heavy metal group, Vader eventually went to thrash, speed, and then in the late 1980s became a death metal band. The band's name was inspired by Darth Vader from the Star Wars film series.

Every cover they made is awesome

3 Blind Guardian Blind Guardian is a German power metal band formed in the mid-1980s in West Germany. They are often credited as one of the seminal and most influential bands in the power metal and speed metal subgenres. Heavily influenced by Queen, they use the technique of overdubbing. They also incorporate large amounts of orchestral arrangements. Hansi Kürsch creates a huge choir effect by overdubbing his own voice multiple times in complex, overlapping harmonies. Thanks to overdubs and numerous backing vocals Blind Guardian stand out with a very dense sound.

They have about 10 cover songs. My favorite versions are:

Don't Talk to Strangers (Dio), The Wizard (Uriah Heep), Hallelujah (Deep Purple), Beyond the Realms of Death (Judas Priest), In A Gadda the Vida (Iron Butterfly), Dream a Little Dream of Me (Ozzie Nelson).

The most surprising cover was Dream a Little Dream of Me - I knew Hansi had several different voices but the way he successfully mimicked the singing style of the 1930s at the beginning was jaw dropping. I couldn't believe it was him...the same metal singer.

They have many great covers

6 Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin was an English hard rock band formed in London in 1968 as the New Yardbirds. The group consisted of Robert Plant (Vocal), Jimmy Page (Guitar), John Paul Jones (Bass, Keyboard) and John Bonham (Drums) and was very much the child of Jimmy Page who even financed their first tour. He had tasted some previous success with The [original] Yardbirds and was friendly with some big names in rock. Page states it was Keith Moon of The Who that claimed the band could only go down, like a lead balloon -- thus prompting the iconic name of Led Zeppelin. The band's heavy, guitar-driven sound, rooted in blues and psychedelia on their early albums, has earned them recognition as one of the progenitors ...read more.

Any song that they covered, are much better than original. Plus more skills requiring songs. For example - if they had only released the Babe I'm Gonna Leave You riffs (non-plagiarized), still it would be famous. It was so dam* heavy riff.

Most of their good covers were actually uncredited covers, i.e. ripoffs. But these ripped off versions were very good so they are the best cover band of all time, LOL.

Yes they do good covers although they steal them and claim it's their own

Good covers yes, credited covers no.

Their version of Somebody Put Something In My Drink (Ramones) is very interesting - they made it sound kinda brutal (of course).

Their cover of Looking' Out My Back Door is awesome!

10 Gamma Ray Gamma Ray is a power metal band from Hamburg, northern Germany, founded and fronted by Kai Hansen after his departure from the German power metal band Helloween.

Surpisingly when they make cover songs they are actually pretty good
