Top Ten Rock and Metal Bands that Most TopTenners Know Probably Thanks to Metal_Treasure

I bet some TopTenners first heard about most of these bands from Metal_Treasure (including myself), when he added these bands and their music to lists where they weren't even up.
The Top Ten
1 Blind Guardian Blind Guardian is a German power metal band formed in the mid-1980s in West Germany. They are often credited as one of the seminal and most influential bands in the power metal and speed metal subgenres. Heavily influenced by Queen, they use the technique of overdubbing. They also incorporate large amounts of orchestral arrangements. Hansi Kürsch creates a huge choir effect by overdubbing his own voice multiple times in complex, overlapping harmonies. Thanks to overdubs and numerous backing vocals Blind Guardian stand out with a very dense sound.

Yeah. On one of his lists, he incorporated the song Wheel of Time by Blind Guardian and that's how I know the band. That song is EPIC though. Blind Guardian is currently my second favorite band of all time and their best song is the epic masterpiece known as And Then There Was Silence.

Wow, thank you, somekindofaguy! Seems I haven't been wasting my time and efforts on this site.

I've actually knew about Blind Guardian before I met MT, but I didn't really get all that into them until after.

Thanks for this list, man! It made me realize I should be proud of myself.
(I don't know why my previous "thank you" comment vanished; it was a bit different than this one though).
Update: haha, my 1st comment came back to the list.

2 Obscura Obscura is a technical/progressive death metal band from Germany, founded in 2002. The band became prominent when members of Necrophagist and Pestilence joined Steffen Kummerer to release the critically acclaimed second full-length album, Cosmogenesis. The band was named after the Gorguts album Obscura.

Yes, I am not surprised cjWriter1997 liked this band - he was already into similar music that is more complex, progressive and technical, such as the band Between The Buried And Me (also a great band).

He introduced this band to me via PM. At the right time too, as I just was getting into the more heavier bands.

3 Annihilator Annihilator is a Canadian thrash metal band founded in 1984 by vocalist, guitarist, bassist, songwriter, engineer, producer, mixer and mastering engineer Jeff Waters and former vocalist John Bates.
4 Primal Fear Primal Fear are a German metal band formed in 1997 by Ralf Scheepers and Mat Sinner. They play heavy metal, power metal and speed metal. Primal Fear remind of Judas Priest but Primal Fear are faster and heavier. They use twin (dual) lead guitars. Ralf Scheepers voice reminds of Rob Halford.

One of the most obscure bands on this list but a very good one. Not long ago TheTopTens user christangrant gave a listen to their album Seven Seals and rated it 100/100. Obviously he liked Primal Fear very much.
It's on his remix of the list Top 10 Best Songs On Primal Fear's Seven Seals
