Ironically and sadly, popularity of his riff to Smoke On the Water became an obstacle to acknowledgement of his achievements and contributions that are significantly bigger than this riff. He's criminally underrated in relation to metal music invention. Also, his work in Rainbow is practically unknown but namely in Rainbow he took metal to a whole new level.

13 Johnny Rotten John Joseph Lydon, also known by his former stage name Johnny Rotten, is an English singer, songwriter, and musician.

Very popular from the Sex Pistols, but the true skill and talent from this man come from Public Image Limited. Completely underrated, and have completely turned the music industry and even basic forms of music on their head with creative and unexpected twists and turns. And even at 60 years old he is still going strong, and still tours and records relentlessly. Even after taking a 26er bottle to the head, he still just wraps his head in a towel and continues to perform, and this was very recent! An extreme amount of dedication to his fans, and deserves many more.
