Worst Rock Songs of All Time

The Top Ten
1 We Built This City - Starship

While I won't burst in anger when I hear this song, I can't help but notice the song calling out "corporation games" while being one of the most corporate-sounding songs of all time. And does the synth-heavy arrangement sound like a theme song for any rock-and-roll event ("we built this city for rock and roll")? Or some poorly-produced corporate or public service video in the 1980s?

Who put Aerials on here. Say what you like but Aerials is my favourite System of a Down song, so much meaning. This song however, sucks more than Tulisa's mouth! It's so bad, lack of inspiration, lack of quality and a disgrace to rock music!

2 The View - Metallica & Lou Reed

Metallica is one of my favorite bands but this song is bad.

sounds like blood on the dance floor

How about everything on this album?

3 Knives and Pens - Black Veil Brides

Stairway to Heaven is the 9th worst rock song of all time?... I hate my generation. It's like what The Who said, "Why don't you all just f-f-f-fade away! "

I do hate this band, but this song is about the bullying Andy experienced in his childhood, so it is kind of messed up to put this here.

This is a great song, I don't care how many stereotypical idiots call me an "emo poser". This song is standing up to bullies. It's a good song, give BVB a chance.

4 I'd Rather Die - Tramp Stamps
5 Something in Your Mouth - Nickelback

I don't hate Nickelback, I just enjoy hating them. As for this song, while it has a solid and pretty catchy riff, the lyrics are so sleazy I can't listen to the whole thing without cringing. Just no, Chad. No.

I think it's just a trend now to hate these guys... THEY'RE NOT BAD! Just because you don't enjoy them personally, doesn't mean they suck. Come on, people, Nickelback isn't bad

This song is easily their worst and WAY worse than Rockstar. It's disgusting and terrible, just listen to it. I'm surprised that Rockstar isn't in the top ten, however.

6 Surrounded by Silence - Design the Skyline

Songs like this one are why ignorant people hate metal and rock music. This song is so awful, I don't even know how to properly respond to it. It really is that bad. It is definitely worse than Stairway to Heaven, Green Day, and Black Veil Brides. This song is even worse than Nickelback and Creed. Thankfully, this song appears to be an anomaly in their catalog, as their other stuff is more mediocre than bad. Maybe they could start a brand new subgenre called "mediocore".

Words can't explain how disoriented this song is. I am not here to disrespect anyone's opinions but you should listen to this yourself before calling it good just because it's a rock song.

7 Why - Yoko Ono

Why does this song even exist? It's just downright unlistenable. Yoko Ono basically sounds like a whiny toddler screaming his guts out in a toy store.

I honestly found this hilarious enough for replay value. The backing instrumentals are also nice.

WHY was this atrocity not on this list already?

8 I Don't Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith

including the most commercial pap smear suckholing to become radio friendly effort of all time. The guys who released Rocks, Toys and draw the line. Say it ain't so! An undying curse placed on the ears of all who expected more.

I can't believe some people actually like this song. It's so bad it makes any song by Nickleback sound like Stairway to Heaven.

Anything written by Aerosmith after 1980 could easily make this list.

9 Nightlife - Green Day

Billie Joe Armstrong doesn't even sound like he wants to sing the song. The lyrics make no sense and the song fails at being sexy. Overall cringe.

10 American Bad Ass - Kid Rock

Bawithaba is way worse than this song in my opinion, because it repeats over and over and over. This one isn't entirely too bad, although the sampling of Metallica's Sad but True over rap doesn't quite work out well.

Worst song ever? Another one bites the dust. Great band, horrible song. Worst song song, period.

Great song, great artist...I've seen him multiple times and he gives his all EVERY time...

The Contenders
11 Addicted - Simple Plan
12 Photograph - Nickelback

This song has become a meme for a very good reason, it is just terrible

Rockstar is worse than Photograph

13 Bad Girlfriend - Theory of a Deadman

TOAD is definitely worse than Nickelback. I really hate the lyrics here, it looks like it's about some guy dating a stripper and the vocals are pretty obnoxious too.

Damn, the vocals on this track are so obnoxious (yep, even more than Chad Kroeger) and the lyrics are really immature. This is butt rock at its worst (has there been anything good in this genre anyway?)

14 American Idiot - Green Day

Which idiot added this awesome song in this list?

What? Are you crazy or something...did the worms ate your brain.....being voted on the best punk songs and now here...doesn't make any sense

Some retard from the South probably got pissed off and went haywire all over Green Day.

15 Toxic - Crazy Town

Yet another forgotten one-hit-wonder from the years of nu-metal. It's really nothing special.

16 Hey, Soul Sister - Train

Just horrible. The lyrics are as lame and pretentious as the worst of Robert Plant's hippie-dippy, Tolkienesque drivel. The song itself is forgettable, unless you happened to have been inundated with it, which was inevitable for anyone who worked in a public place while it was a "hit".

This is the most pathetic joke of a list I've ever seen. A lot of the songs on here aren't even rock for starters, and whoever had the bright idea of putting stairway to heaven on here should be unusually tortured. This list is a complete joke.

17 Rockstar - Nickelback

Ok for some reason Stairway to heaven by Led Zeppelin, the greatest band ever, is higher than this piece of crap on a worst rock songs list

Rubbish, I dislike this song and is officially demeaning rock 'n' roll. I prefer the other tunes of the artist Nickelback.

This song needs to be way higher, it's one of the most obnoxious and pretentious songs ever.

18 Adventures - Kid Cudi

*Kid Cudi abandons what made him great and tries to be Kurt Cobain*

19 Sorry - Buckcherry

This is one of the worst rock songs I have ever heard honestly. The lyrics are very immature and repetitive, and the vocals are super whiny as well. Also, I don't understand how this managed to make the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100

Whiny, drab power ballad in the style of Nickelback and Hinder.

20 Higher - Creed

This song rocks in my opinion. I don't give a funk what people say creed and nickelback rocks. Anyways most songs on here is just pop music. Also American idiot rocks so funk off you bastarderous rock n roll haters

Honestly surprised how many people are defending this song. I can't think of even a tiny thing good about this muck. Each to their own I guess.

This song was good until the radio played it literally six times in a single day and then it got very annoying.

21 Tonight, Tonight - Hot Chelle Rae

This crap doesn't even count as rock. And who the hell put Stairway To Heaven on this list!? It's not only the greatest rock song of all time, but also one of the greatest songs of all time, period.

Uh, a good majority of the songs on the list aren't even rock songs. Any-who, I've never a song so overplayed, so dull, so unbearable than this.

This band's first album was an awesome mix of Weezer, Blink-182, and RHCP. This album sounds like a generic boy band instead of the once great rock band.

22 My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark - Fall Out Boy

No that song is awesome. Whoever came with this list is an idiot. And this isn't a rock song it's a pop rock song

When you think about it really hard... you still don't know what the actual heck any of this song's lyrics mean.

You mean my farts know what you did in the dark

23 Hats Off to (Roy) Harper - Led Zeppelin

This deserves to be up towards the top of the list, not "Stairway to Heaven". I understand that the song was written as a tribute to old delta blues songs but it just sounds too abrasive for me to handle. What was Page thinking when he included this on Led Zeppelin III? He should have put "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do? " on the album instead and left this mess on the cutting room floor.

24 By and Down - A Perfect Circle

Whoever put A Perfect Circle here must be executed.

25 Nookie - Limp Bizkit

Worst Limp Bizkit song. Break stuff is so much better.
