61 Shew - Fist of the North Star

Wasn't really a commenting section that I've seen on here but the whole list on this website kinda sucks. The saddest in my opinion is rei from fist of the North Star. Haven't gotten to shu yet but I highly doubt it will be as emotional as rei's death.

62 Diva - Blood+

I pity her.

Okay, no, this was not a sad death at all. in my opinion, anyway. I kinda laughed.

63 Piccolo - Dragon Ball Z Piccolo - Dragon Ball Z Piccolo is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama. He first appeared in chapter 161 of the Dragon Ball manga in the Shonen Jump magazine on February 22, 1988. He is a member of the alien Namekian race and has abilities such as ki manipulation, regeneration, telepathy, more.

He was originally Goku's enemy, following his death he decides to personality train Gohan himself although he was incredibly strict he and Gohan eventually become good friends, the very first real friend Piccolo ever had which is why he sacrifices himself to save Gohan during the battle with Nappa. - egnomac

I don't think that any deaths in DBZ (except maybe the first few ones) were sad. We always knew that they would be revived. Even Piccolo's real death in GT was rushed and emotionless. - RalphSaad

Erm, Piccolo died in GT For real..

64 Judeau - Berserk Judeau - Berserk

Even sadder in the manga, when Judeau tries to come up with his last words.

His death raped my emotions... Judeau was a character that I was emotionally attached to, I cry every time someone mentions his death... just all the emotions... and he was never able to get out of the friend zone and make my otp canon... R.I.P. I am gonna nickname a pokemon after Judeau and raise it to level 100

65 Asuma Sarutobi - Naruto Asuma Sarutobi - Naruto

Asuma knew he was gonna die and still he leaves some parting words to his students, including revealing to Shikamaru who the "king"

His death should be in the top ten. He didn't have a significant role but his last words are something which hold value in real life as well. - Hellblazer94

Seeing him die was sad enough, but seeing Shikamaru cry, who is usually serious, broke my heart

Oh god why did he leave us

66 Seiko Shinohara - Corpse Party

Only one sentence. Imagine your best friend hanging herself, causing you to go insane. Pretty sad

Favorite character from Corpse Party. She didn't have to die on the first episode...

I loved seiko. I hoped she would make it. Then the end of episode one happened

She just had a fight with her best friend... and then the plot twist... It just got me like TT-TT (her best friend was posessed and while posessed she killed Seiko) <~(in the game, I don't know if this happened in the anime) and when getting out of Heavenly Host Elementary school, she watched a video where she saw how she kiled Seiko... I died

67 Wizardmon - Digimon

I watching Digimon with my sister. We both cried!

Wizardmons death was so sad... - ItsDaWorldOfSNuGGLEZ

68 Nine - Terror in Resonance V 2 Comments
69 Amane Suzuha - Steins;Gate

So much hope only to be crushed by the heartbreaking yet imminent failure of out Part-Time Warrior. The manner in which she dies is brutal yet believable, making it all the more devastating.

70 Shiina Mayuri - Steins;Gate
71 Holy Roman Empire - Hetalia

The thing is, he had so much ahead of him. He was such a young country. Italy would've been saved from so much angst if he'd lived, too.

Even though he didn't die German lost his memory of his Holy Roman Empire days. He was only a child... The FEELS

Many say that he didn't die (turned into Germany) but his character certainly did - This should be number 1 for the SOLE REASON that France had to explain his death to Italy. France. After he (speculated) killed HRE.
Also, he was only a child.
The feels associated should be illegal.

Such sad, So many feels.

Need I say more, mr. Franc/(e)(is Bonnefoy)

Although many say he is Germany...

72 Old Man Fu - Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood

When Ling cried out in desperation for help as Fu died, I couldn't help but choke up. The old man was one helluva guy to the very end.

He was... WAS... one awesome old man. He could even stand his ground against Wrath... to the death...

73 Hide - Tokyo Ghoul

They say that the more you like someone the deeper the mark they leave. In terms of anime, this is especially true to Hide. He's such a cinnamon roll. He's just really lovable, caring, and generally a good friend. You can't help but like him. Everything's a little blurry about whether or not he died, but I'm hoping he didn't. Someone as amazing as him deserves to live, even in a crazy world like the one in Tokyo Ghoul.

Hide was the first anime character to ever make me cry, every time I look at anything to do with his death, my eyes start to well up with tears.

How is this not higher up? I don't normally cry at things, even if it makes me sad, I want to cry but I just can't. But with Hide, he was the first anime character to make me cry. Every time I hear the opening song to Tokyo Ghoul or the words "Let's go home," I can't help but tear up. Hide played such an important part in Kaneki's life, and he was always energetic, supportive, and caring before and after he found out Kaneki was a ghoul. I just really miss Hide, along with the series. Great, I've started to cry again just writing this.

It simply wasn't fair that Hide died. He worked harder than anybody. He was the best friend Kaneki could ask for. He's brilliant. He's kind. He was too good for this world. The mark that he left can never be filled. Sui Ishida made his death a turning point in the manga. It is one of the most important events in the series, second only to Kaneki becoming a ghoul. Hide's death was so sad because he was the only one who definitely did not deserve it.

74 Rosette Christopher - Chrono Crusade

First anime death to actually pull through with protagonist dieting in my experience

75 Atem/Yami - Yugioh

I was trying to vote for lucario

The end of GX had Jaden go back in time before Atem left, and the movie is the same case.

So sad

Every time I rewatch Yu-Gi-Oh, I start to cry during the last scene. Whenever he reappears, I shout in joy.

76 Lucario - Pokemon Lucario - Pokemon Lucario is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak's Pokémon franchise. Created by Ken Sugimori, Lucario first appeared as a central character in the film Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, and later appeared in the video games Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and subsequent sequels, also appearing more.

I loved lucario. He was so cool, and then he died. I started crying.

First time I See this guy and he dies!

77 Simon - Fairy Tail

What the hell is Simon doing at 59?! He should be in top 10 for sure. He had an extremely sad past just like Erza. They both were forced to work at the Tower of Heaven. He loved Erza and died protecting her. The time he confessed his love for Erza made me cry. Erza and Natsu couldn't even take his body with them. Erza is a strong woman. When I saw her cry, I had lost it! She still thinks that it was her fault that he died and it was his sacrifice that made her value her own life even more.
To be honest, none of DBZ's death should be in the list because death in DBZ is a joke! You can simply revive the dead! - Hellblazer94

So sad how he died to save Erza. It was a truly heartbreaking scene in the tower of heaven arc.

It was sad because Simon admitted he had loved Erza when he died.

Who cares about Simon! As long as my baby Jellal is alive!

78 Raynare - High School DXD

True she may have been evil but she was gonna redeem herself. But just before she could do so, Rias killed her off, making me hate Rias even more! - SelfDestruct

79 Nuriko - Fushigi Yuugi

It's been so many years since I saw this anime, and Nuriko's death is still by far the saddest anime death scene I've encountered (Light Yagami's is a close second). He was the first of the Suzaku seven to go, and lets be honest here - his death hit at the worst possible time. Just when he had realised that he was in love with Miaka, just when they had been so close to the end of their journey... Everything about it was heartbreaking; that tired look in his eyes, that dying gleam; how Miaka and Tamahome arrived on the mountain just on time; how Nuriko spoke with Miaka before passing away. It makes it a lot worse that Miaka had turned her back to get help when Nuriko closed his eyes, and when she heard Tamahome's choked cry from behind-- heartbreak was painted all over her face. Nuriko was in love with Miaka, he admitted it himself... Nuriko x Miaka will forever and always be my favourite ship of all times.

Those who only knows modern 20's anime may not know about this man's death,or even the anime he's in. But he's death (which is a total 100.1% sacrifice for his friends and beloved priestess) is indeed very tragic. And the fact that he didn't get the chance to tell the girl he loved how he truly felt was truly heart-wrenching. He may be a crossdresser and a flirty okama in the beginning episodes, but he died the most manly death out of all them.

80 Suboshi - Fushigi Yuugi

A tragic villain who wasn't evil at all just a crazy bad boy worthy of redemption but he was thrown under the bus. He deserved a better show. - mingsnowyming
