Saddest Deaths In Comic Books

The Top Ten
1 Gwen Stacy Gwendolyne Maxine "Gwen" Stacy is a fictional character who appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, usually as a supporting character in those featuring Spider-Man.

I'm a big spider-man fan, so of course I'm going to vote for Gwen's death.

She does get resurrected as Spider-Gwen though.

2 Uncle Ben

I mean come on guys, he may have not been a superhero with powers, but he is a SUPERHERO

Spider-man was my favorite character. I think his death in the Ultimate universe is the most sad. Why did they have to kill him when he was 16? Why?

5 The Waynes

This wasn't sad at all. You learned who the Wayne's were on the same page that they died.

The Contenders
11 Jason Todd

I still feel the pain I went through every single day. Why Batman, I forgive you for not saving me but why is The Joker not dead?

Like he was trying to save his mum people and then was brutally, painfully and slowing killed by the joker with a crowbar

How was this sad? The reason Jason Todd died was because the readers voted to kill him.

It was sad when he got beat with a crossbar and got blown up

Death in the Family, and they don't bring him back to life unlike 90% of the people on this list

17 Supergirl Supergirl is the superhero name of Kara Zor-El, cousin to Superman. She was created by writer Otto Binder and designed by artist Al Plastino in 1959, and she first appeared in Action Comics, in whose first issue Superman himself was introduced. Kara Zor-El's Supergirl has been adapted into various media, including television and film, having being played by Helen Slater, Laura Vandervoort, and most recently Melissa Benoist in the Arrowverse.

She DOES come back to life though thankfully she dosen't stay dead. She's so powerful she's immortal and brings herself back to life.

18 Sue Dibny

Sue represents to me a very real person who lived in a fantastical world, and in spite of her lack of powers left such a visible impact on the world around her. She was the perfect embodiment of what it means to be a hero. Not only with spectacular adventures and abilities, but extraordinary kindness and courage as well.

Sue was an extremely devoted ally to The JLA to the point where she was actually considered an honorable member of The League along with her husband, The Elongated Man. I mean, this seemingly average woman was so well-respected among the superhero community that she was considered on the level of heroes such as Superman or Wonder Woman. That is just incredible.

Her funeral speaks of the gaping hole left in her absence, and the reactions of everyone around is even more saddening. Seeing Ralph break down like he did left a lump in my throat, a heavy heart, and misty eyes, which is a very rare thing in my case as death is such a common occurrence in comic ...more
