Throughout the movie Fievel has gone through so much trying to find his family after being separated from them during the boat ride to America and we do see moments where they were literally inches away from each other but fail to notice the other, after chasing the cats away to Hong Kong Fievel gets separated from his friends Tony and Bridgette and ends up with other mice orphans who pick on him and tell him he should forget about ever finding his family as they all gave up on finding theirs stating if they were really looking for him they would have found by now and Fievel not really wanting to admit it just gives up all hope of ever finding them. - egnomac
