Top 10 Saddest Nickelodeon Moments
The Top Ten
SpongeBob was Nickelodeon's best show of all time, even better than Invader Zim, but after 3 seasons and 1 movie, Steven Hillenburg retired and Nick hired talentless writers who think suicide and bad morals are funny, there is no turning back without him, Thankfully, he's coming back for Season 10, but it won't happen at all this year, or the next year, we'll have to wait just about before 2020, otherwise, it's dead.
Nickelodeon ruined Spongebob... But Season 9 has some episodes that are heading in the right direction toward having masterpieces again.
This is one of nicks greatest shows with the fairly odd parents
WE LOVE YOU SEASONS 1 2 3
Invader Zim was basically one of Nickelodeon's biggest masterpieces of all time, It was a gem of joy for Nickelodeon to air, It had everything you could ask for on Nickelodeon, Action/adventure, comedy, drama, and aliens, Then after 1 year, they cancelled it, they were planning a movie, but then they decided to cancel it, It has drawn MILLIONS of fans and they really wanted Invader Zim to come back, but no plan worked, it's gone and Nickelodeon was the blame.
I don’t understand why they would cancel it mid season. It was so great
I once watched it it was awesome but sadly it canceled
This networks golden years was in the 90s. It's just sad how I can't even watch my childhood network any more because it's utter garbage now. It took a downward spiral starting with the logo. This network used to air the most timeless animated shows of all time like Rugrats, Ren and Stimpy, Hey Arnold, Rocko's Modern Life, Pre-Movie SpongeBob, The Wild Thornberrys, The Fairly OddParents (pre-2008), Invader Zim, Danny Phantom, My Life As A Teenage Robot, and of course, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Nickelodeon doesn't have creativity. Nickelodeon isn't a network that doesn't air quality content. Nickelodeon just wants money and they'll put whatever their kids will tolerate on the screen for a half hour. Back in the day, there were three main cartoon channels: Cartoon Network, Toon Disney, and of course, Nickelodeon. I'd prefer the other two, but Nickelodeon had a variety of great, memorable, and timeless Nicktoons that're remembered by animation critics and reviewers. This channel went ...more
Ever since invader zim ended in 2006, Nickelodeon went downhill I drew the line when nickelodeon changed the logo. Then nickelodeon crossed the line and died when fanboy and chum chum aired in 2009
Nickelodeon was such a good network, it even had a good logo and good bumpers, but then in 2009, they decided to rebrand it, as well as change their logo, now there's nothing good about it anymore.
In one SpongeBob episode, Mr. Krabs discoveres Plankton's fear of whales, then he sets up a scheme to scare Plankton from stealing the formula, but he scares Plankton so much that Plankton decides to commit suicide the next morning, he was laying out on the road waiting to get run over, He meant it and that was SpongeBob's worst moment of all time, yet SpongeBob told Plankton that it was against his good nature, yet SpongeBob doesn't have any good nature at all, That moment ruined the whole series.
Seriously nick kids do not need to see sucide!
Nickelodeon's biggest show, SpongeBob SquarePants, has lots a cast member for the first time ever, Ernest Borgnine, born in January 24, 1917, who played the voice of Mermaid Man in the Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy shows in SpongeBob, died in July 8, 2012, causing grief all over the world, He died of a kidney failure, at the age of 95, He's a true legend for Nickelodeon, This is by FAR one of Nickelodeon's saddest moments of all time.
Nothing on this list can make a comparison to Ernest Borgnine's death, it was Nickelodeon's saddest moment of all time.
This is too low, Make it Number One Please, Nothing compares to this.
We'll all miss Mermaid Man for sure.
Avatar: The Last Airbender was one of Nickelodeon's finest shows ever made, it had a large and deep plot filled with action and adventure, yet the characters acted mature rather than whiny babies, but before Season 4, they decided to end it, it was so good and popular that it could've ran longer, but they decided to end it so soon as if it wasn't very popular, Thank goodness there was a spinoff called The Legend of Korra, which got banished because of low ratings.
The series ended because the story wrapped up. It didn't need to continually grind out seasons, that's exactly what made SpongeBob go downhill.
This was an amazing and breathtaking show but it was only meant to go for 3 season.
My Life as a Teenage Robot was one of Nickelodeon’s good shows, It was about robots and what life is like as one, and what you have to experience, it didn’t run a whole lot of episodes, yet they cancelled it, which was dumb for them to do.
The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron was a good show, it had a mix of things to keep us entertained, and he was smart, but then Nick decided to end it with Planet Sheen, a show that ruined Sheen's reputation and had nonsense and rude humor, They ruined one of the best shows.
Like how could something so bad like planet sheen get half the amount of episodes that Jimmy Neutron got. I mean come on, Jimmy neutron was a classic and more than deserves a reboot. It got Nick its only ever oscar nomination
The Fairly OddParents was one of Nick's best shows of all time, but it turned bad in 2009, when Cosmo gave birth to Poof, a fairy baby, well it was still good, all the way til the trilogy movies, Then the show started hitting rock bottom afterwards.
Pre-Wishlogy movies episodes were pretty neutral. I don't like the episode where Cosmo gave birth to Poof. And also, I'm so glad that stupid show moved to NickToons. Hope it gets cancelled.
He played a character in Rugrats and Dexter's Lab, It was horrible when she died, but nothing compared to the moment when Ernest Borgnine, from SpongeBob SquarePants as Mermaid Man, died in 2012 because of a kidney failure.
Christine Cavanaugh, the voice of Chuckie Finster in Rugrats, Babe in Babe, and the pig in Dexter’s Laboratory, has died at the age of 51, nobody knows what caused her death, but it was a very sad moment in history, but doesn’t compare to the death of Ernest Borgnine in July 8, 2012, He played Mermaid Man in Nick’s biggest show, SpongeBob SquarePants.
We'll always miss you Chuckie Finster
Rugrats was one of Nick's best and most popular shows of all time, then after a long time, before more episodes were being made, they decided to cancel it, Thanks a lot SpongeBob, and they ruined it with All Grown Up, They weren't like what they used to be.
This is Nickelodeon's third best show so fat
Drake and Josh was Nickelodeon's funniest sitcom in terms of jokes and humor, yet it had good acting and morals, but then, one year, they decided to get rid of it and have iCarly take it's place, iCarly was nowhere near as funny, it had bad acting and it had lots of sexual content, Nick was dumb of doing that, Thank god it ended, but They shouldn't have gotten rid of Drake and Josh for iCarly in the first place.
The only thing good about iCarly was Gibby. Everyone else really sucked.
None of these moments are really that sad.
I've watch rocko's modern life on 123movies.
Amanda Bynes, one of Nickelodeon's biggest stars, from All That and The Amanda Show, took a downward spiral after a twitter meltdown, then she committed crimes and got arrested, she even threw a water pipe at someone's neighbor's house and got arrested for that too, then after that, she went to rehab, it was known that she was mentally ill, at least she's recovering, but that was a truly sad moment for Nickelodeon.

I BET NICKELODEON TURNED AMANDA BYNES INTO A BAD-TEMPERED MONSTER!
House of Anubis was one of Nickelodeon's best modern shows of all time, it had a deep plot as well as mysteries, it was supposed to run 4 or more seasons, but about a year after Season 3, they decided to cancel it, the season 3 finale wasn't even considered the series finale, and they cancelled it for no reason but to let Viacom make money.
It was boring.
This is the SADDEST Nickelodeon Moments, not the Worst or Most Annoying moments, This is supposed to be about moments that are sad, not obnoxious, Rabbids Invasion is more annoying than sad.
The creator of SpongeBob SquarePants, which was the most influential show on Nickelodeon and what made it even more popular. It ran the longest time on Nickelodeon and Stephen will be missed. Too bad he died of ALS at 57. R.I.P. Hillenburg.
This should be #1. The creator of the most iconic show.
How is this not #1?!
This should REALLY be #1!
Ned's Declassified was, perhaps, one of the best live-action 2000's shows Nickelodeon has ever made, It wasn't your usual sitcom with laugh tracks and gross humor, although Drake and Josh won for being super funny, it was a show without a laugh track, the plots seemed more vivid than in the other sitcoms of that time, ad it taught kids to have fun where ever they go, It was a shame to have Nickelodeon cancel it, They could've made a few more episodes, including a graduation episode, but they didn't they decided to just cancel it before finishing it, and what also sucks is that they didn't even make a spin off.
The sad thing is that it brain washes children with too much bathroom humor and gross objects, it doesn't do anything good to them.
Even worse than Sanjay and Craig, it does the same thing, but it has no plot.
You don't realize how much this broke people's hearts. This was a serious tragedy for Nickelodeon and its fans. It was the greatest live-action sitcom Nickelodeon's ever ran and since its end no more good original sitcoms were made on it. - NickelodeonFan1
This was probably the saddest moment for live action shows on Nickelodeon, yet the world mourned since its ending. Yet she had to go to college after more than 5 years since the show’s premiere. Since then there are no more good sitcoms on Nickelodeon. Though this was nowhere near as tragic as Stephen Hillenburg’s death as he was the creator of the no. 1 biggest and most beloved show SpongeBob SquarePants.
Saddest episode in Nickelodeon history, more sad than any episode of the Last Airbender, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Invader Zim, or even SpongeBob.
Made me cry so hard, but I'm glad they ended it as strong as they did.
Worse! It got revived into the Adult Party Cartoon, which turned out to be a disaster.
Nickelodeon ruined everything.
This is a sad episode of sponge bob just watch it, it made me cry so much
