281 Hiroshima - Sandra

Come on guys! This song is amazingly sad and touching! Let's vote for it

282 Fiction - Avenged Sevenfold

This song deserves to be at least top 10. The chills that you get from this is song is overpowering. When you fully understand the meaning Avenged Sevenfold was going for and the history behind Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, this song really hits in the heart with emotion

The most emotional part is the piano solo at the end with the backing vocals and the when the swithch happens between the piano and the organ you feel like this person is saying his last words must definitely be in the top 10

Really sad. The lyrics are so chilling and it makes me tear up every time.

One of the saddest songs I've heard should be at least top 10.

283 Dark Was the Night, Cold Was the Ground - Blind Willie Johnson

A beautiful instrumental that needs no words to express the pain felt in this song. Listening to this song takes to the land of darkness that this blues man endured without uttering a single world. Only a Slide Guitar and some moans. A perfect example of how actions speak louder than words.

More than anything else ever recorded, this tune reaches down inside and pulls something out of you. It's simultaneously one of the most difficult and rewarding experiences, listening to it. I can't make it through without choking up; it's what I imagine dying sounds like.

When I was scrolling through the list I realized that this song is way too depressing to be at 31. So very sad and emotional, even sadder when you hear how he died.

284 Brenda's Got a Baby - 2pac
285 Looking In - Mariah Carey

It is a very beautiful song, but the music sounds so sad.

Beautiful, Carey shows her sadness

286 Father and Son - Cat Stevens

Sad but very beautiful lyrics and sound. One of the greatest songs ever..

This song stopped me from hanging myself

287 Solo - Jason Chen
288 Angel - Sarah McLachlan

My Aunty had leukemia and this was played at her funeral. I've never cried so hard, and every time I hear this it makes me ball.

I hate how great songs slip through the cracks on lists like this. This absolutely deserves more recognition.

Makes me cry every time I here it.

289 Darkness - Disturbed

Why is this so low on the list?!?

290 Let Her Go - Passenger

The person that wrote before me is tone deaf I think this song is great

Honestly, this song is SO overplayed, and its annoying. Just saying.

291 The Noose - A Perfect Circle

This song starts out with some faint guitar sound, slowly crescendoing and then Maynard's vocals kick in. His lyrics are very meaningful in a way. The last part of the song where the guitar sound gets bigger is complemented by the "halo slippin down" lyrics, which convey a sad, deadly feeling. - NuMetalManiak

293 Where the Wild Roses Grow - Nick Cave

Sentimental duet by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue about what seems to be a young couple in love having just found each other. Told from alternating points of view, it is revealed in the third verse the young man is a mentally disturbed man who eventually kills the woman he loves. What makes this so sad is that even at the end of the third verse, it is still a lovesong. The act of killing has something inevitable to it, as if the man had to do it despite truly loving the girl. Unkike much of the "Murder Ballads" album, it never gets violent either. The actual killing is more implied then explicitly described. In the end, the man even lays down a rose on her dead body. The beautiful emotional outfit adds much to the atmosphere. - Martin_Canine

294 Archangel - Burial
295 Fields of Gold - Eva Cassidy
296 Damned If I Do - The Alan Parsons Project
297 Blackbird - Alter Bridge

Through the whole 7 minutes, you hear in every part of the song, lots of sadness. Starting out with the guitar riff that forebodes a feeling of loneliness to it. Myles vocals kick in, and they are low (in terms of pitch) to complement the sadness. When it picks up at the chorus, its lyrics ask for the titular blackbird to fly away, biding farewell. The song's guitar solo creates a sad embrace as well. At the end, the same guitar riff as the beginning plays, closing the song just how it started. Very sad song indeed, and actually dedicated to a man named Mark Morse. - NuMetalManiak

298 Room of Angel - Akira Yamaoka

It's so depressing... But very beautiful...

299 Why - Rascal Flatts

It's about a kid who committed suicide. This is an extremely sad song.

300 Heaven - DJ Sammy

That's a sad song! Because it's telling your lover that you want him or her lying in your arms so that you're in heaven! :'(
