Top Ten Greatest San Diego Padres Players

My quest to get a "best players" list for all 30 teams continues.
The Top Ten
1 Tony Gwynn

A great ballplayer, and a greater man!

He was an MLB Legend.

2 Dave Winfield

Better than Peavy on an all-time scale, though

3 Trevor Hoffman
4 Randy Jones
5 Jake Peavy
6 Adrian Gonzalez

He should be in the top 5 if he was a Padre for longer.

7 Andy Benes

Sad state of affairs when this guy gets 11 percent of the votes

8 Chase Headley
9 Brian Giles
10 Ken Caminiti
The Contenders
11 Terry Kennedy
12 Gene Tenace
13 Nate Colbert
14 Fernando Tatis Jr.
15 George Hendrick

George was a traveling man, playing for 6 teams, San Diego was one of them, even though he wasn't a All Star, he did led the Padres in hitting in 1977, hitting .311 with 23 home runs and 168 hits. He wasn't a popular player, playing in the shadows of another great Padre player Dave Winfield, by 1978 he was out of San Diego and Joined the St. Louis Cardinals and re energize his career and one of the missing links the Cardinals needed to contend for a world championship, and it did in 1982 with a World Championship with George on their team.
