Top 10 Scottish Places

The Top Ten

1 Cairngorms National Park

Simply the best, from skiing, to walking, to shopping, this place is the best!

2 Strathclyde Loch

In North Lanarkshire lies a very good area for walking and generally keeping fit. M&Ds, Scotland's theme park, lies here as well.

3 Glencoe

Home to many of Scotland's skiing locations, and some of its best scenery; from the lochs and Caledonian Canal, to the magnificent mountains, hill walkers are welcome here.

4 Loch Lomond & the Trossachs

Very nice scenery here, you can't do much better.

5 Dornoch & Surrounding

With the beauty of the local beaches, this place can be very scenic. Also note the lovely Falls of Shin, which sadly lost its visitor centre to a fire back in 2013, though a new one is on its way.

6 Orkney & Shetland

With many prehistoric finds, these Island groups offer a nice holiday at little cost. They may be very sparsely populated but they are still very nice places to be.

7 Ayrshire

Plenty of things to do, Robert Burns was born here. From the harbour at Ayr to the wonderful scenery of Loch Doom & the Galloway Forest.

8 Durness

It may be very remote, but Durness is the ideal getaway for those looking for scenery and more.

9 Glasgow City Centre

Especially at Christmas time when the outdoor ice rink is open, this place can be very popular, especially with shoppers.

One of my friends was mugged here. - Britgirl

And that, in your opinion, makes it one of the top ten Scottish places? Must be a cultural thing... - Billyv

10 Edinburgh Zoo

The only pandas in the UK live here and the zoo also has its famous "Penguin Parade" every day.

I love Edinburgh Zoo! One of my favourite places to go on a daytrip!
