Top Ten Sesame Street Characters

The Top Ten
1 Cookie Monster Cookie Monster is a Muppet on the long-running children's television show Sesame Street. He is best known for his voracious appetite and his famous eating phrases, such as "Me want cookie!" "Me eat cookie!" and "Om nom nom nom".

I love cookie monster! He is my favorite! You can go to my website sesamestreetlovers. Weebly.com. There at my website you can see all about all of these characters that are on this list. Including cookie monster who is the best sesame street characters I have ever seen and heard of. I have all kinds of cookie monster stuff. I have so many shirts and backpacks and a wallet and hats so I love cookie monster and I hope sesame street is always is on television, because I just love watching sesame street everyday I come home from my school. And I never want them to stop making sesame street or cookie monster

2 Elmo Elmo is a Muppet character on the children's television show Sesame Street. He is a furry red monster with a falsetto voice, who hosts the last full fifteen-minute segment on Sesame Street, "Elmo's World", which is aimed at toddlers.

Horray for sesame street, horray for big bird, and mostly horray for elmo wait? Elmo? That should be number one he rocks everything ( execpt for celebrites with elmo and evil elmo Shdder ) but still I love elmo even much better than cookie monster why is he on 1? He's only about cookies elmo has his own world dummies.

Epmo looks adorable, sounds adirable and IS adorable. His fluffy, furry red skin makes him the best, too. He is so good that he even has 15 minutes of the show dedicated to him, Elmo's world!

Elmo was my favourite as a little kid, so. I vote for him
And why isn't Elmo number one? He arguably became the most iconic character in Sesame Street

3 Big Bird Big Bird is the main protagonist of the children's television show Sesame Street. Officially performed by Caroll Spinney (1969-2015), Daniel Seagren (1969-1970) and Matt Vogel (since 1998), and voiced by Carroll Spinney (1969-2018) and Matt Vogel (since 2002).

Him and Oscars where the first 2 characters on sesame Street who can't love a 8 foot 2 in.
Turkey that's 48 years old check out the movie is am big bird.

I feel Elmo's a bit too popular. Can we bring big bird higher? He's friendly, yellow and he is sesame Street. He IS.

I met Caroll Spinney at Wizard World, and signed a picture of himself, Big Bird, and Oscar together. Best. Convention. EVER!

4 Oscar

Oscar is grouchy but educational at the same time. when I used to watch sesame street, I would think, "why is he so mean? " I answered the question myself by saying, "he is mean because he is in a less fortunate situation in some way that we may not know." I also think he teaches kids that your actions affect everyone, and that you should always be aware of this.

Oscar doesn't deserve to be Number One on this list. Instead, he deserves to be at the very bottom because of how much of a bully he is. Hell, I remember him ruining Christmas for his neighbors in Christmas Eve on Sesame Street. If I'm any of those folks, I'd beat the crap out of him.

5 Ernie Ernie is an orange Muppet character on the long running PBS and HBO children's television show Sesame Street.

Ernie is a bit like Grover. Always foolish yet so funny at the same time.

He used to be my favorite character! Either this or Elmo!

He's funny and it's pretty hard to get old of him.

6 The Count

My daughter's favorite character... when she was a little girl. She'd laugh and beg me to imitate him for hours!

The Count captured the hearts of parents and children being curious and humorous and enlightening.

He would've been great as Edward Cullen in Twilight.

7 Grover

Grover is so funny! He brings a sense of humor to older kids from a show meant for three year olds. Elmo is overrated, Cookie Monster is cool, too, and so are Bert and Ernie. But Grover tops them all. I love to watch his encounters with Mr. Johnson, especially the "Speedy Pizza" special in the movie "Elmo's Magic Cookbook." (PS Good movie.) If you haven't heard of Grover and Mr. Johnson, I recommend looking it up. I have also always thought it is cool how he is Super Grover and Grover at the same time. Grover tops all others!

8 Bert

Bert is related to Squidward Tentacles from Spongebob Squarepants, Ren Hoek from Ren and Stimpy, Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc.

I'm more similar to Bert while my brother is more similar to Ernie, it's such a coincidence.

Love Bert and Ernie a lot, but I hate it when people think that they are gay.

9 Kermit the Frog Kermit the Frog is a Muppet character and Jim Henson's most well-known creation. Introduced in 1955, Kermit is the straight man protagonist of numerous Muppet productions, most notably Sesame Street and The Muppet Show, as well as in movies, specials, and public service announcements through the years... read more

I love kermit, especially when people make videos with kermit as a part of ''Kermit's kitchen''. I really recommend it if you like comedy and cooking

Kermit was one of the biggest characters on the show when I was a kid. So a vote for Kermit it is.

The original muppet HAS to be the best (every other sesame character or thing should go away, they suck. )

10 Snuffaluffagus

MY all time favorite! Who cares that I am 50 years old!

The Contenders
11 Zoe

Zoe is so sweet and I love how she seems spunky!

12 Abby Cadabby

Abby has proven to be a great addition to the Sesame Street gang!

Don't vote Abby, she ruined Sesame Street.

Abby is such a cute and cheery fairy!

13 Prairie Dawn

I literally forgot about her. She's pretty cool.

14 Rosita

She is the first bilingual character on Sesame!

I love when she sings mambo I, I, I!

15 Hoots the Owl

The best saxophone player Sesame Street had ever seen!

16 Mr. Hooper
17 Harvey Kneeslapper
18 Julia

A new addition to Sesame Street and the first character with autism.
She's really cute, and her autistic traits are shown in a more positive light, being both sensitive and insightful towards the condition.

One of the cutest characters on Sesame Street, and one of the few characters on a children's show to have autism. Should be in the top 5.

19 Telly Monster
20 Guy Smiley
21 Slimey the Worm

A shoutout to Slimey:

You should be #1 on the list! You are the best Sesame Street character ever!

22 Dr. Nobel Price
23 Yip Yips (Martians)
24 Roosevelt Franklin

Roosevelt is extremely underrated! People, Roosevelt was one of the main characters in Sesame Street's earliest years, so respect him and place him higher on this list!
