Top Ten Most Sexist Songs of All Time

The Top Ten
1 Frauen Schlagen - Juliensblog

This is a German rap song by YouTube star JuliensBlog. As you can see on the cover artwork, he isn't exactly known for his good treatment of women. But out of all his sexist statements and punchlines both in videos and songs, this song takes the cake.

So that you all get an impression of what he's rapping about, let's summarize the song.

First of all, the title translates to "Beating women". Yup.

The first verse consists of things about his girlfriend that annoy him, including all the cliches: she hasn't cooked or cleaned up, she is jealous, she isn't in the mood for sex, etc. Then the chorus kicks in (literally): in an eerily happy tone and melody, he sings about all types of her bones he will break, hitting her all across the room, knocking her teeth out, etc.

Then in the second verse, he gets more specific about what he does to her, like making her eat very VERY disgusting things or hitting her with a vacuum cleaner, and furthermore explains that he thinks women in general are nothing worth and has been doing so ever since kindergarten (another chorus kicks in with the same lyrics).

In the third verse, his girlfriend does everything right she has done wrong in the first verse in his eyes, meaning she has cooked, cleaned up, prepared his clothes for work, and is in the mood - but nevertheless, he'll beat her up just for the fun of it.

Yes, that's about it. You can shut your jaws now. In his defense, despite JuliensBlog having a pretty good rap technique, good punchline, and perfect double-time flow, he is more a novelty artist than a serious rapper. This song, much like the rest of his only album to date, is meant to be a very dark-humored joke for his huge fan community (he is known for very insensitive politically incorrect humor) rather than topping the charts. It is not to be taken seriously. It's his role much like Borat is for Sacha Baron Cohen. Nevertheless, I've never heard any more offensively sexist song. Not... more

2 Love Me - Lil Wayne
3 Shut Up and Love Me - The Dead Exs
4 Bubble Butt - Major Lazer

This is not just sexist! It is absolutely disgusting, and these lyrics should NEVER be in a song!

This song is absolutely the most disgusting thing ever! I do not know what Major Lazer was thinking while they were writing this song. This is so sexist. And to all the Major Lazer fans, why do you like them?! They thought it was OK to write this song when it is not. And they may have said sorry, but you know deep down they are not sorry.

5 Run the World (Girls) - Beyoncé

There is a thing about making sexist ads from the 50s rewarst, that's sexist, making a sexist thing towards women and changing the sex just makes it sexist towards men instead.

But writing a song about how women basically run the world is a statement, not some kind of hate towards men, and it's sort of true. No, we don't run every single country in the world like the song suggests, but "behind every successful man, there's a strong woman supporting him." So no, girls don't run the world, but the world couldn't be run without girls. So we could just say it's a combined effort and call it a day.

And if you want an example, just look at Winston Churchill, the man who made sure England didn't make peace with Hitler during World War II. He was the only candidate for prime minister that the opposition would accept. So even though the king and his own party didn't want him, he became prime minister, and he's considered one of the best motivational speakers in history (he even has a Nobel Prize in Literature). And he's probably the reason we don't all speak German today since he convinced America to join the war.

So how did he manage to stay in power when his only allies wanted him gone and take power for themselves?

The answer is two strong women, his wife, and his secretary. His wife supported him his entire life, and when he did something she disagreed with, she told him so. Once she told him "you are not as kind as you used to be," and that let him know that he would win no supporters if he kept it up.

The other woman is his secretary, Lady Astor. She once said, "If I was your wife, I would put poison in your coffee," and to that, he simply replied, "If I was your husband, I would drink it." Now that might seem like a bad example since it seems like she's threatening him and like he then comes on to her, but that's not the case. She is simply telling him that she thinks he's an awful person, but that he's the man for the job, and that... more

6 Lookin' A** - Young Money
7 Tonite I'm F******* You - Enrique Iglesias
8 Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke

There are no blurred lines when it comes to sexism or sexual harassment. When I first heard this, I didn't really listen to the lyrics, so I liked the song because it was catchy. But now, I'm surprised this song hasn't had more criticism. It implies that it's OK to have sex without consent ("I know you want it"), and that the lines are "blurred" when it comes to consent, which they definitely aren't.

If someone (boy or girl, it doesn't make a difference) says no to sex, or anything like that, they mean no! It doesn't matter if you "know they want it". Their word is final! He also says that girls are "animals" and they need to be "domesticated", as if we're not human beings like men are. Also, they say "what you don't like work", which implies that women should have no say in sex, as the positions they don't like (often because they are painful) are ones men seem to find pleasurable.

I'm definitely not saying all men are like this, but unfortunately, there are those few who can freely spread this opinion onto impressionable young minds. I'm glad Pharrell has no sexist lyrics, because I like his other music (apart from Get Lucky because the chorus is also quite sexist, but nowhere near as severe as this song).

9 I Just Wanna - Kiss
10 I'm a Slave 4 U - Britney Spears
The Contenders
11 Shape of You - Ed Sheeran

People have to learn that a real boyfriend or girlfriend will like you without makeup on or wearing fancy clothes. They will love you for who you are. So, if you do not know if your boyfriend or girlfriend likes you, take your makeup off and wear sweatpants to see if they like you because of your looks or for who you really are.

As the Bart Baker parody says:
"Objectifying girls is rude. We have personalities, too. We're more than just hot bodies."

12 How to Love - Lil Wayne
13 Hey Mama - David Guetta

This song SCREAMS SEXISM. Lyrics like:
Yes I do the cooking, yes I do the cleaning
Plus I keep the na-na real sweet, for your eating
Yes you be the boss, and yes I be respecting
Whatever that you tell me, cause it's game you be spitting

14 Dear Future Husband - Meghan Trainor

Terrible, sexist, just all-around awful. It says if you buy women a gift she'll have sex with you. What?

15 What Makes You Beautiful - One Direction
16 Bitches Ain't S*** - Dr. Dre
17 If I Were a Boy - Beyonce

The lyrics here are sexist. Beyonce thinks that only guys hurt the ones that love them, only guys cheat, and girls never have their friends stick up for them when they screw around.

18 Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
19 Anaconda - Nicki Minaj
20 Slow An' Easy - Whitesnake
21 Only Girl In the World - Rihanna
22 Loyal - Chris Brown

I like the beats but not the lyrics, mostly the white girl part. All my friends love this in real life.

23 Je T'aime... Moi Non Plus - Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg
24 Women: Nature's Punching Bag - Anal C***
25 Cream - Prince
