One of the most influential bands in the genre. They definitely deserve the top spot.

2 Slowdive Slowdive is a British shoegaze band formed in Reading, England in 1989. The band is a key player in the shoegaze movement, characterized by their use of heavy reverb and delay to create lush, dreamlike soundscapes. Their music often explores emotional and introspective themes, complemented by their atmospheric instrumentation. After disbanding in 1995, Slowdive reunited in 2014 and released a critically acclaimed self-titled album in 2017.

Slowdive are the band that truly defines Shoegaze. Everything they do is amazing!

3 Asobi Seksu
4 Lush

Not only did they start Shoegaze, but they were one of the first Britpop bands as well. Many of these bands as well as Oasis, Blur, and the Verve wouldn't have been a thing. Heck, there is a new Shoegaze seen happening in America that is dripping with Lush influence. But despite this, their sound is still highly unique and cannot be coppied.

5 The Verve The Verve were an English rock band formed in Wigan in 1990 by lead vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bass guitarist Simon Jones and drummer Peter Salisbury. Guitarist and keyboard player Simon Tong became a member at a later date.

Their first album definitely did.
